LOVETHEM, but they are pretty pricey. I ate here for breakfast and lunch when I worked in Midtown. For breakfast I love the roasted tomato and egg sandwich, and lunch I usually get chicken and avocado with balsamic vinegrette sandwich. Both are yummy, and make me feel like I’m eating relatively healthy. This location gets packed, but the cashier was very helpful and friendly.

Unmitigated chaos. Right hand not only unaware of what left hand is doing… right hand unaware of left hand at all. Burnt coffee, empty coffee pots, confused staff. A lesson in how not to run a coffee shop. Consistently idiotic. Surely they don’t have to get too many things right?

Slow service and too few cashiers. I’d rather go to Dunkin Donuts on 37th street!

I really choose going to this place for a quick tasty healthy feeling(because I can judge based on the calorie count) breakfast and lunches. The oatmeal is good(steel oatmeal, meaty and tasty) and I love the shrimp wraps and Italian wedding meatball soup(which they don’t always carry). Today I had the carrot ginger soup and I highly recommend this soup, small amount of softly cooked carrot chunks and the ginger gave it a little bite that made it stand out from other carrot soups I’ve had. I love me some Pret soup!

Looking for a Fast and Healthy Lunch, then Pret A Manger should be your next stop for lunch. I work in the Garment District and am running around all day long and barely have time for lunch. Pret provides fresh salads, soups and sandwiches daily. The staff is especially friendly and fast… rarely a line at any of their locations. If you have only ten minutes to grab food and get back to the office, then Pret is your place. I can count on them always when I am running in between bookings/jobs.

I’ll save the word count on this one since it’s a Pret A Manger and since I didn’t get explosive diarrhea or food poisoning eating here, I’ll be happy to just report that this is a nice location where you can get decent healthier food/sandwiches as opposed to eating taco bell or mickey d’s for lunch. That’s always a plus. Food tastes fine and the place has good seating options. Simple and to the point!

First of all, I enjoy this franchise, but find it a bit pricey. That aside, this branch has great seating and good lighting. If only they kept their tables a wee bit cleaner. I like their sandwiches and I love that they have their own line of sodas. NOT a place to go out of your way for, but definitely a nice place if you are in the area.

Great chain serving fresh and tasty food. We need you guys to get into all the New York area airports. There’s so much junk there!

For a lunchtime snack… ehhh its Pret. I’ve never been to a Pret before — but from what i can tell… it’s a grab and go situation. Grab — pay and go. The food is freshly made in the back and packaged so you can take it and leave. The food is ok — nothing special, prices are average for NYC — so expect around 7 to 10 for lunch. A salad is pretty expensive. Oh well.

These people are awesome! The food is good, they change up the menu, and they make my coffee(double capuccino) so much better than the Starbuck’s down the street. I even forgot my wallet once but didn’t realize it until after I had placed my order. And when I tried to cancel the order, they said it was ok — I’m there every day so they gave it to me and wouldn’t let me pay even after I came down at lunch to do it! Great customer service!

This place is definitely less crowded than the one right by Bryant Park, FYI. Stop by for a quick bite to eat-I grabbed the grilled cheese sandwich with some tomatoes and basil-to be toasted. It was ok, more like healthier fast food, really. There’s some seats inside, but you can also take your lunch for some outdoor seating across from the store.

It’s been nearly three years since my last PAM review and the major difference is that what was once a chain with a half-dozen midtown stores had bred like a cockroach with outlets on what seems like every block. Still the same simple upscale flavors that are always fresh: sandwiches, wraps, panini, salads, pastries, coffee. I realize now they’re focus is on the office worker as I haven’t yet found a store open on the weekend. That would be nice.

I got the half chicken balsamic sandwich, chicken noodle soup and a bottle of orange juice. The sandwich was quite bland, despite other Unilocalers raving about it. The chicken soup was… Chicken soup. Good, but no better than Campbells. And the portion was teeny tiny. All this amounted to over $ 10. I suppose I should understand, since it’s midtown… But I kind of expected more based on reviews. Also, the guy behind the counter was most definitely new. I had my order to stay, since there were tables open and I had 20 minutes to kill before rehearsal. I wasn’t offered a tray, although the gal next to me got one. So I asked for one and he didn’t know where they were. Then he charged me for a full sandwich. He was nice about it when I went back up to the cash register after noticing, but it was still kind of annoying. I think I will find somewhere else to stop for a quick bite on the way to rehearsal. I liked the idea of the place — organic, natural, giving back to the community — but not enough to spend $ 10 on something I could get from a convenience store for half the price.

Pretty spacious and very quick. Lots of sandwiches to choose from but not as many places to sit(i.e., if you come, at least to this one, expect to take it to go — though the sandwiches are in handy wrappers to hold). I really dug their egg salad sandwich. It wasn’t too heavy, and the flavor was anything beyond bland.

i know i probably shouldn’t write a review about pret since it’s a chain &THERE’S A MILLIONOFTHEMALLOVERMANHATTAN but i do love their shrimp wrap & it’s always a safe bet for lunch. SETTING: everything is clean lines & dark wood tables. it really depends on which location you go to but some have really nice seating. FOOD: pre-made salads, sandwiches & fruit cups. they also have soups & sushi! the chicken caesar salad is always a safe bet — the dressing is on the side so i always go for the balsamic! everything they have is made that day so it’s fresh. also, their canned sodas are amaze! try the orange! PRICE: pretty average for midtown. is it sad to think that an average salad is $ 10? =/ xoxo

This is a chain restaurant/deli, so youget he same food everywhere. I am giving the stars to the cashiers and waiters who are among the best and nicest people you will meet. They go out of their way, to perfect your tea order, they offer you extras when they are closing and they are generally really friendly, quick and attentive. I love this branch

I lived in London for two years. In the City, where all the financial institutions are, they take breakfast and lunch seriously. Meaning you can get toast with butter and marmite at all times and there are sandwich shops galore. EAT, Marks & Spencer(Marks & Sparks, the English have to nickname everything), and a local chain called Pret-A-Manger. My American colleague once called it Pret-A-Manager. She also asked if we could eat by the river in Paris, you know, the Thames? We’re no longer friends. So when Pret opened a couple locations in NYC I was excited to see the return of the little triangular box. They don’t have all the cool combos of London(no shrimp and arugula, for example) but they have baguette, wheat bread, and now toasted wrap sandwiches. When in Rome I guess. I always get the salad with chicken, parmesan flakes, and croutons. My colleague swears by their soup. And the cookies are more than scrumptious. Sushi looks a tad funny, but I’ve had it and it’s OK. Plus the staff is always really friendly. If they started serving toast with marmite I would be dead chuffed mate.

I escaped the frozen tundra that was NYC today and defrosted at Pret for lunch. My usual spot for grub at 2pm daily is PAX down the street, but I wanted to check out this place today. Well while it is tasty, it did have a pro and con with their healthy food competitor down the block. Pro: I like their«half sandwich» option. I was not starving and was able to just get ½ and save a little loot in the process. I went with Grilled Chicken sandwich that included some great avocado, balsamic vinaigrette, mesclun greens, seasoning and basil. Washed all that goodness down with a water. It was nice to spend under $ 6 on a healthy lunch. Only so many times my fat stomach can inhale 2 slices of pizza for lunch. Con: This place was so tiny. I mean wow… I was lucky to get one of their tall tables and snatch a stool from some chick that was eating alone. PAX meanwhile has a huge eating area and much more room to enjoy your meal without people all up in your bidness. I will probably stick with PAX, but Pret is definitely a good alternative. Do not go here during a weekday lunch break if you are looking to sit down with friends.
