The lobster mac and cheese is really worth it. The main lobster roll is also delicious!

Like this better than Luke’s Lobster, basically $ 20 for a lobster roll but the juicy freshness is definitely worth it! They put a generous amount of lobster in the buttery roll and I love how it melts in your mouth. Super good! Will be back for more!

We first tried Red Hook at Laurita Winery’s Food Trucks and Fire Pits event in Fall 2014 and we were obsessed. We spent all year raving about how this was the best lobster roll we had ever tasted. The bread was crispy and the perfect ratio to the massive chunks of lobster drizzled with butter and lemon. However. We went back to the Food Trucks and Fire Pits event this year and were very disappointed with Red Hook. They were sold out of everything except the Conn. lobster roll, which is advertised as served with warm butter, lemon, and topped with paprika and scallions. Ours definitely came sans scallions. The bread was soggy and even though we watched them make our rolls, they tasted as if they had been made hours ago and left to sit in the heat all day. It’s hard to pinpoint whether we had just built up an unrealistic expectation over the year or they simply were not as good. One thing is certain, however, I would have preferred to save that space for some of the other delicious offerings at the event. Read our full review here:

Surprising to think that a lobster roll from a food truck would be good but it actually was! They have a store front near Soho too but for a quick fix of seafood and price comparable to the restaurant without having to travel far from the office, I definitely recommend giving this food truck a try. Oh and they do accept Credit Cards which is a plus for convenience.

Lobster roll??? Yes please! Chucks of lobster meat in every bite! It’s one of the many vendors part of Broadway Bites. This one made me stop.

Nothing like pre-gaming before a Unilocal Elite Event! I couldn’t take it anymore and finally was excited to give the infamous Red Hook Lobster truck a try. I would have loved to have given this five stars, but I was gripped about the tiny single slice of bread, not a roll, that my classic lobster sandwich was on. I definitely had more lobster than bread, which is great, but I wish for the last three bites I had, there was still some bread left to go with it. Again, beautifully seasoned, beyond fresh and tasty, but for that much meat, a little bigger of a slice wouldn’t have killed anyone, and at $ 17 a clip, it’s not asking for much. It lives to the hype, but Luke’s Lobster might still be the epitome for me. Red Hook, if I catch you again, I will have to give you one more try!

Had the Conneticut. Lobster was pretty good and nice medium size chunks but the bread was dripping in butter. I like butter but it was too much. Pretty pricey.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of lobster that was generously heaped in between my top-split bun. It was pricey, and the line was long, but it was well worth the mayo-based«Main-style» lobster roll. However, I do not recommend going when it’s broiling hot outside– it is hard to keep the lobster cold as is, but once it hits the table, you better gobble it down or it will become a pile of warm shellfish.

LOBSTAH! If you got $ 16 to throw for a Lobster Roll and want to treat yourself, go for it! I got the Connecticut Style(WARMDRENCHEDINBUTTER) with Bacon and it was RIDICULOUS. YOULLL. all 5 seconds of it. The Clam chowder was meh. I probably wouldn’t recommend it. That is the only reason I didn’t give 5 Stars. I will definitely be back when I feel like treating myself next time they’re on my block.

The lobster BLT literally changed my life ! For $ 12 you get 1⁄8 lb of fresh lobster chunks tossed in aioli with crisp thick bacon strips lettuce shred and sliced tomato on a soft foccacia like bun. This is a street cart location but they offer seating and rapid service. I can’t wait to go back and have another one. Delicious ! Absolutely.

Ran into this truck at the Monmouth Park Food Truck Festival in NJ. This truck had the longest line out of all of the other trucks, so the wait in line was long. But man, was it worth it! I got the lobster roll w/lemon mayo. It was $ 18 but the huge chunks of lobster on the roll, I’d say it was worth every penny. If you can, try this truck! Yummy!

So. Incredibly. Delicious. I ordered the Maine lobster roll from their food truck at Madison Square eats and was blown away. This place gives Luke’s Lobster a run for its money! They do not cheap out on lobster and the mayo is light and refreshing. The chives on top bring it all together on a classic hot dog bun. Will definitely be back!

Came here at Madison Square Eats, the best month long food festival the city has to offer. Got the Maine style roll and it was DAMN good. Pricey, but that’s the going rate for lobster rolls in the city these days. TBH I loved the butter and sauce, but wasn’t crazy about the spice sprinkled on it. And it doesn’t taste like a Luke’s Lobster roll, which will always be my pride and glory. All in all, great roll and great service at the stand, but IDK if I’ll be back. It’s a helluva lot to pay so i feel like this should be perfection and it wasn’t. Almost, but just short.

This review is for the Herald Square food stand. I waited about 15 minutes on line during the lunch rush, but considering how many people were there they really kept things moving. Staff was super friendly and they take credit. They also have sides and salads. I ordered the lobster BLT($ 18): lobsta, chipotle mayo, bacon, lettuce, tomato– sans the lettuce and tomato. It was great, generous amount of lobster, perfectly toasted bread. I was worried the chipotle mayo would be too over-powering, but it ended up being just a little too understated for me. The bacon is a thicker cut. I still prefer Lukes, but I’d be very happy to visit any Red Hook again.

The Maine Lobster Roll was amazing. Thoroughly satisfied with it. If they had some additional menu items to round out the experience(no whoopie pies, not much of a side dish or beverage selection), it would have put it over the top.

I don’t know where to write my review! Oh dear. I had Red Hook Lobster Pound at the Urban Space stand in the Garment District. I got the Maine Lobster roll. Have to have the specialty. I admit, I haven’t been to Maine in like forever so I cannot compare lobsters. This is also my first lobster roll, and it tasted very good. You get a lot of lobster in this roll. Probably a whole lobster. And then you get the lovely sauce that’s mixed in. MMM. Also the bun was toasted nice and buttery. So it had a good crunch while eating the roll. I must say at first the roll was too fat for me to take an actual bite out of it, so I just ate the lobster with a fork at first. Then I realized there was lettuce on the bottom when I thought there was more lobster. So I ended up eating it like a hot dog. I really liked it. I think price is decent, because lobster can get expensive depending on market price, so they have to jack up the price for labor and profits. So if you think it’s too expensive for lobster roll, well I don’t think you can get good cheap lobster rolls anyway, unless you make it yourself. I was left filled, so I think it’s worth the $ 16.

This was the first vendor we tried at the Smorgasburg Sunday event. $ 16 for a hot dog roll filled w lobster, main style. It was good and plenty of lobster in the roll, but $ 16 worth? No it should’ve been priced at $ 12 – 13. Great but not a must have! I would’ve given 3.5 stars

Oh, Lord have mercy! Lobster, properly cooked and on it’s on is enough to induce a psychotic break from reality and send one to lobster heaven! Bacon, do I have to say anything more about bacon that hasn’t already been said? Now, combine those two items together with a home made chipotle mayonaise on a buttery toasted bun for the ULTIMATE lobster roll! On a recent trip to New York, while on the subway, my daughter, sister and I spoke with a couple of passengers about which stop to get off. While we were talking, an extremely helpful passenger(especially for New York) told us that she was going where we needed to go and that we could follow her. She didn’t look deranged and so we followed. Not only did she lead us to our destination, but she told us that for the summer a food truck«pit stop» had been set up with over 20 food trucks/stands and that we should try one of them out before we left. Off we charged to the food truck oasis! OMG! What a surprise! Not only were there food trucks that we had never heard of, but quite a number of popular restaurants(Can you say David Chang’s Momofuku Milk Bar? Yaasss!) We purchased food from several vendors, but the lobster BLT roll that I purchased from the Red Hook Lobster Pound Truck was the Big Kahuna! The Illuminati! The Chosen One! I love lobster, but most lobster rolls usually have something off, to me. Too many vegetables, too much mayonaise, too little complimentary seasoning… But this one was perfection! Here’s their description: «Lobster BLT — Lobster + Bacon = Heaven(¼ lb) Lobster tossed in a Chipotle Mayo served with thick-cut bacon and the fixings.» Lil Jon in the background, «Yeah-yah!» Go! Don’t Stop!

Tried the Connecticut style lobster roll and it is so drool-worthy! The bread was golden, lightly crisp, and buttery and the lobster was just piled on! My only complaint is that it all came to an end so soon. The pals that made my meal also were kind enough to wish me a happy birthday and sing a little song for me! Totally put a smile on my face!

Oh goodness. Well this is just wonderful. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Cool crowd, fast service, and a concept that is truly cutting edge when it comes to the food truck scene. It’s hard to create and acceptable atmosphere when you’re a food truck, but Red Hook pulls it off. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? My one complaint. Yes, New York is expensive. Yes, food trucks can get away with charging premiums. Yes, lobster is among the more expensive ingredients out there. All that having been said, $ 15.00+ for a lobster roll, and in my case $ 12.00 for a small portion of lobster mac n cheese, is simply too much. Can they pull it off? The line speaks for itself; but it doesn’t mean that I can’t protest. Have a look — No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Very, very good. The consistency to the mac n cheese was spot on, the lobster fresh and tasty, and the cheese an interesting blend(no blue box here folks) that was freshly melted atop my cup. Excellent. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I love a good concept, and I coincidently am a big lobster fan — yes. Star Granted.
