Roberto’s Hair Design

I been Roberto’s client for the past 6 years. Roberto would do any type of hair style, just name it! He is the most talented and professional hair stylist I ever had. If you want to change the way you look, Roberto’s Hair Design salon is the way to go. Make sure Roberto is in town, since he travels between Brazil and America. Roberto knows all latest fashion haircuts, however, if you have something special in your mind, bring him the pic and he will do exact replica. Roberto cuts mostly with his hands, it shows a great quality of work! Nancy is his assistant which is very helpful and does a fantastic head massage. I recommending to all of you, especially to the guys. If you are a blue color, suite and tie, model, or executive person and wanted to look sharp and professional, use my advice and visit Roberto!

Roberto is a true genius! Yes, all the great reviews from the past are still accurate.
I went to see Roberto the first time in June this year — a friend of mine set up an appointment for me after I went for a well-​known salon in Manhattan for a check-​up and a price quote and was told that I would need a full color+highlighs to start getting the color that I wanted and that it would cost $ 600. Since the appointment at Roberto’s would cost me 3 times less and the recomendation came from a friend I decided to give it a try. Plus as it turned out one of the ladies in my office has been going to Roberto’s for years now and since her hair always looks great I knew I was in good hands. And oh boy was I happy with the result! The color was exactly what I wanted after just highlights (!) — from golden-​reddish blond I was back to my beloved sun-​kissed dark blond. Plus I got a touch-​up hair-​cut which was also done perfectly. I don’t remember the exact price but it was around $ 200 which is a pretty good deal in the city.
My second visit took place 2 or 3 weeks ago. This time I wanted an actual hair cut (figured it was time for a change) plus the roots needed some coloring to even out the tone. I was the last one for the day and Roberto spent almost 2 hours working with me. I didn’t even know what exactly I wanted (just that I wated to keep the length) so I just went with what Roberto suggested. My only concern was that my hair get really frizzy at the front but he assured me that he’ll fix that for me as well. At the end of 2 hours I had a perfect hair cut, even color and some keratin treatment in my hair (all for just $ 200). I haven’t used my hair straightener since! Even right afer the shower my hair stays straight! For the first time ever! And every day I get compliments on how great my hair looks and how the new hair cut compements me (look younger too aparently lol)
On top of being a true master Roberto is super nice and charming.
The only downside is that he’s not in the city all the time — he’s travelling back and forth between the States and Brazil so if you want to see him and only him for teh first time — call first. Once you become a customer the salon will contact you to let you know the dates when Roberto is in New York and make an appointment for you.

Who has been writing these reviews? I went for the first time today and I thought I was seeing Roberto but didn’t. I went for a color correction and cut. I should have known when I wasn’t shown the back of my head that there was a big big problem. From there I went to a function and at the function my partner remarked how awful the back and sides looked… terrible stripes like a raccoon going across the back of my head.
I asked before leaving if the unevenness that I could see on the sides were needing to be fixed. I was told that after a few washes it would even out. That felt like a big red flag and it surely was!
I just put a call in after hours to complain and to get squeezed in to correct this. I really should get my money back and get it corrected elsewhere. The cut is very primitive as well. I can’t go to work like this, that is for sure!

Roberto gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years. I have very thick curly hair and he’s the first stylist in a long time to get it right. I can’t recommend him enough.

I’ve been contemplating cutting my hair for quite a while and finally got the courage to just do it. Roberto listened to what I wanted, made his own recommendations and did a fabulous job. Now if he would only move to Silicon Valley…

I’ve been going to Roberto for color and cut for the past 10 years! You can read from the other reviews on how talented he is with hair but what you you may not know is that he has such a wonderful and beautiful heart. You can tell by the energy of the salon as soon as you walk in. Not only is the room inviting, but everyone is so warm. You walk out not only looking great but FEELING great. I would highly, highly, recommend Roberto. He is also so reasonably priced! Can’t get any better than that! He truly is amazing !

Pancho has been doing my hair for 12 years. He was the first person to give me a relaxer and he keeps my hair healthy. He has also done all my hair cuts and trims. Besides doing my hair he does my two sisters and mothers hair as well. He has also done color for my sister and relaxers. When he does your hair he does not want to do anything that will damage it. He has clients with all hair textures. I have ethnic hair and I would not let anyone else touch my hair besides him. I get my hair done every week and the price is very reasonable.

I’ve been coming to Pancho to about 7 or 8 years now and there is no one else I would trust my hair to. I’ve moved all over from Long Island to NJ to Staten Island and back to Long Island, and I still make the trip to see him wherever I’m living. I’ve had horror stories going into other salons that simply don’t know how to handle my hair, with «professional» stylists saying they give up because I have thick, curly hair that isn’t as easy to style. Pancho has NEVER disappointed me, and always gives me exactly what I want, whether he’s straightening, styling, cutting, or chemically treating my hair (I just got a keratin treatment done, it’s amazing). He is always friendly and courteous and makes you feel like you’re a friend, not just a casual customer. His prices are very fair, and his work is excellent. I have recommended him to friends and family, and would recommend him to anyone that was looking for a good hair stylist.

Roberto has been cutting, coloring, and styling my hair for 6 years now. He is literally a GENIUS with everything hair-​related. Not only does he cut and style my hair, he does my highlights also… and they come out amazing, every single time. Other places I’ve been to (I’ve been coloring my hair for about 15 years) aren’t always consistent– sometimes it comes out brighter than normal, sometimes blonder or darker than other times, sometimes they don’t get all the way to the root… in the 6 years Roberto has colored my hair it has not once been less than fabulous.
A few years ago I had him dye my hair dark brown, from the light blond it had been for years… again, I left it completely in his hands just by showing him one picture from a magazine… it was exactly what I wanted and came out beautiful. A year later he transitioned me back to my original blond color, with perfection.
I recently trusted him with my wedding day hair-​do and all my bridesmaids hair… again LOVED what he did. I didn’t really know what I wanted, he just went to work at my initial hair trial, and nailed it with the first try. The day of my wedding, my hair came out amazing.
So not surprisingly, last Friday I had Roberto do something drastically different with a new hair cut. I was bored and wanted a change. He simply said «Let’s cut bangs», so I said «Go for it!» (this is how much I trust him!). Once again it turned out perfect and I’ve received tons of compliments on how well it fits my face and the actual style of the cut. I can’t imagine there is a better priced or better cut or colorer in the entire city… not to mention one of the nicest, sweetest, most gracious people I’ve ever met. I would recommend Roberto to anyone looking for a fabulous, well-​priced, hair stylist.

What can I say? I’ve been with Roberto for years now (I see my first review was 2007), and I’m still totally happy with his work — I always walk out looking and feeling great! I’ve sent more friends to him, and they all rave as well. One of them has flown in specifically to have him cut/​color her hair, and is most unhappy with the economy as it’s decline is preventing her from returning!!!
