I rarely met so unprofessional and so unrespectfull people like that man. I am crazy about good vintage clothes and I really think that shop had nice things, but when the guy look at you like if you were a piece of s. t and don’t let you try the clothes, I prefer to let him go to hell. Nobody needs your bad energy! Go to hell

You can buy new crap, or buy great quality, cool looking clothes here. Probably around the same price. I just can’t trust anything new lately, so I come here when I am looking for something special. And it’s always a success. Recommend 1000x.

This gem of a shop is mostly «dead» stock which is NEVER WORN VINTAGE! This is very hard to find and the kind gents that run it have fantastic taste. Many beautiful suits for men also strong in European 1970s athletic wear!
Also, if you are doing a major wardrobe job (film or theatre), they have massive inventory off site.

Rue St Denis is a real gem, filled with high quality vintage deadstock threads from Europe. The proprietor Ricardo takes great pride in providing beautiful clothes to his customers. Most recently I bought a navy blue dress suit, which Ricardo helped to tailor to my measurements. Easily the most amazing and perfectly fitting suit I’ve ever owned. Highly Recommended!

LOVE! The quality of the clothes here is really, really high. Also, you get a lot of attention from the owners when shopping for mens suits (for my spouse). They even got the arms tailored in a single day (overnight). The suits are unworn from the 60s and 70s and they are awesome. I also got my daily purse here — compliments on it every day. I love this place.

I was trying to throw together an outfit for a Depression-​Era-​themed NYE soirée and came across this establishment on the very same site on which I am now writing a review (the Circle of Unilocal is a beautiful thing).
Ricardo was incredibly patient and creative in helping to come up with a killer solution to my costumery situation.

I had a great experience buying a vintage suit here. I looked for a new suit at a few different stores and didn’t really like the current styles. I also had a hard time finding a nice fit and was not impressed by the quality of most of the modern garments I tried on.
Ricardo at Rue St. Denis showed me a variety of options from his beautiful collection of unworn vintage suits and then tailored the one I chose to fit me perfectly. Great shopping experience, great suit, and a great price considering the quality of the suit and the tailoring.

Picked up a shirt and pants for a wedding and couldn’t be happier. The selection is amazing, you’ll find any decade you want here and the service is extremely helpful. Excellent quality, hemming was complimentary, and I would definitely recommend this as a first stop for anyone looking for something fun to wear for any occasion

My beaux bought his wedding suit here — a unique 50’s suit that sat in a warehouse until it was imported to the states and tailored to fit him wonderfully. The owner matched it with a pin stripped vest and a black knit tie. I also bought a really nice reversible blouse that I ended up wearing for our engagement photos. There’s a lot of unique items here. This is a very special store.

I love this place– I am going to have a 70’s wedding this September and couldn’t decide what to wear. I ordered a few things from ebay that didn’t work out and went to a bunch of other places. I came here and the owner was EXTREMELY HELPFUL and threw together a whole outfit for me– without being pushy about it. The clothes are in amazing new condition, although they are vintage. After putting together my look, he had me come in a few times for follow up fittings, tailored my outfit perfectly for me, paying attention to all details that I would have never noticed. I was so impressed that he kept working for me after I had already paid. Many thanks!

I’ve had some snobby vintage experiences in NYC, and I tell you, this was not one. We came here in search of a suit for my fiancé, who was interested in buying a vintage suit for our wedding. Ricardo took one look at him, knew what size he was, and started pulling stunning suit after stunning suit out for him to try. We found the PERFECT late 70s Ralph Lauren, light grey two-​piece within a half hour of getting there. The jacket fit him like a dream, and the pants just needed minor alterations, which they do on site.
If you had told me we would have found the most perfect vintage suit for my fiancé at the first place that we went to and within an hour of looking, I would have said you’re out of your freaking mind. But Ricardo made that happen for us for less than $ 500. A. May. Zing. I will be back to look for something for myself VERY soon. :)

Beautiful clothes, if a bit beyond snooty. I know what I’m getting into when I step into a vintage store as I’m not the most svelte individual but the clerk’s continued insistence that I not try on a shirt that I knew would fit seemed rather rude.
Although on the pricier side of things I saw so many pieces that I would love to have hanging in my closet, especially on the tie rack. Everything is very organized and easy to find and while I wasn’t completely satisfied with the service I would definitely go back and look forward to purchasing more fine clothing here.

If you are looking for mint condition, dead stock and designer pieces, you have come to the right place! New things are coming in all the time, everything is easy to find and in a neat order.
I love the people who run this shop, sweet and attentive! LOVE this place!!!

Great selection, perfection condition, and impeccable style. Everything here is just awesome and if I were rich, I would buy everything in this store. The clothes here are formal meaning vests, trench coats, and suits. They have brand names like Dior and the prices are pretty decent compared to the brand.
In the back of the store, they have an AMAZING selection of leather jackets. I wanted one so badly, but they ranged from 200 – 400 and I didn’t have the money to splurge. I would definitely go back here when I have enough money saved. If only I wasn’t a poor college student :(

Didn’t even step inside. While it looks like they have marvellous selection through their shop window, after ringing the bell several times during their posted hours and when the lights and air were on, no one came to let us in. No service is poor service!
I wrote that bit 20 minutes before someone let us into the shop, one of the tailors, I think. She complained in broken English of not being able to hear the bell from the back. Then, a moment later, the man who runs the shop entered and unlocked the door. At 1pm. His posted hours say he opens at noon.
He has an excellent selection of clothing, including a vast array of suits, blazers, and tuxes. However he didn’t have what I was looking for. But he did recommend another shop to go to, so there we went.

Bought a vintage unworn velvet jacket here for about $ 150. It fit decently but to make it just right I had it tailored. Worth investigating if you’re in the neighborhood.

This store makes me feel special because the buyer ONLY sells never been worn, one of a kind pieces. It’s as if these pieces (clothes, purses, etc.) were curated and were waiting many, many years to find the right or lucky owner/​investor.
My latest purchase was a late 70’s patterned silk shirt dress from a revered local designer in Milan. It was a splurge by my own standards but I didn’t feel that guilty. After all, it will be the first time the dress will be publicly donned.
Due to the specially researched and preserved pieces, the prices range from $ 50 to $$$ but now you know why.
