Foot Locker, Finish Line– You guys got nothing on this store! When you think West Village, you think, antique apartments, cool restaurants and coffee shops. You would never think boutique sneakers. When I first stumbled upon this place, their selections was AWESOME. The people that all worked the floor knew their inventory and were very bright when it came to the cool kicks you just won’t find in those boring chains. I will be going back there a lot to get all my sneakers and shoes. There was a fat guy with a goatee, the nicest guy to ever assist me with my sneakers search. Look out for him when you go there because he will hook you up and keep you up to date with the fashion world!

So I went in to this store on the way to the gym just because their window caught my attention. I walk inside and I came across the Tom’s section and automatically knew that I was going to make a purchase. The young man there was very slow to help, and acted like he had an attitude at the same time. I guess you shouldn’t go here at night or something. Maybe a**holeness is in the employee handbook. :/

I used to love this shoe store and the selection until I had the worst and only encounter with a store manager in my life. I stupidly purchased the floor sample and with in the hour after purchase realized there was a large scuff mark. I immediately went to return the shoes and the manager proceed to make an obnoxious scene in front of all his customers claiming that I had ripped out the inner soles of the boots. his sales team was great as they backed me up, but he was a mega jerk. it’s been a year since i’ve been there, and really wished I knew if he still worked there. if not, i’d be back in a heart beat.

This is definitely my go-to shoe store. I really hate shopping in large stores with too many things to go through, so Rugged Sole is perfect. They have a great selection of sneakers and the layout is very clean. They carry Toms, which I can’t seem to find in most places. They also carry PF Flyers, and a lot of Vans in rare styles.

I’ve been going here for over a year now. They used to be a few doors down from my office, but they moved on 6th Ave. It’s smaller than there old spot, but it’s a cool place. All in all I think i’ve bought about 8+ pairs of shoes there. They have the rare color-ways that I look for and they know me as always buying New Balances. The staff there is really cool and helpful. They also have New Era Fitted Caps, shirts, headphones and they also sell one of my favorite magazines, Antenna. The only other place I know that has this is Reed Space on the LES. If you want some good deals and a comfortable place to shop. I do recommend coming here.

Mostly geared towards the dudes, this hidden gem of a sneaker store is not to be missed on a shoe jaunt through NYC. Specializing in sneakers, Rugged Sole also has a small selection of t-shirts and jackets to go with your gear. Since I’m not a big sneaker junkie, I’ve never actually purchased anything here, though I was very tempted by the Creative Recreation high tops on my last visit. The selection of women’s shoes is small, as is the store itself, but if they don’t have what you’re looking for I’d wager a bet that they could help you find it … somewhere. It’s also not super pricey, so you won’t be shelling out Benjamins for footwear. Be sure to browse their website for the brands they carry — and they ship around the world. It’s like chicken soup for the sole.
