Great neighborhood pub — I love the upstairs vibe and the cider they have on tap.

Great neighborhood spot. Important to know that they DONOTSERVEFOOD. But they give out endless free bags of potato chips(bbq and regular) for the drunken munchies. they have an basketball hoops arcade game in the back, along with a pool table, darts, and some board games lying around the bar. Any bar with games is a bar I give a big thumbs up to. Always a good crowd, and nice bartenders.

I’ve been going to Ryan’s for years but just thought to write a review. In short, the reason why I go to bars are the people and environment. In both respects, Ryan’s is one of the best neighborhood pubs in the city. Authentically friendly bartenders, unpretentious patrons, social games, and a warm relaxed feel to the place. I also enjoy bars that have entertainment options. Upstairs they have trivia nights on Mondays, jazz on Thursdays, and special events(plays, readings, bands, etc.) that are advertised near the entrance. Most times I eventually find myself by the pool table gabbing with usually very friendly regulars or new visitors — and hopefully playing a decent game against whoever won the last match(hardly happens). Anyway, hope this place remains down to earth and awesome. p. s. As a beer lover, it’s been great to see this place deepen its selection of microbrews, and swap in new options occasionally.

Been here a couple times because I’m friends with some girls who enjoy flirting with the bartenders. Apparently if you’re female and hot enough you can score some free chips. However, if you don’t want to thot it out for salty snacks or have a penis, the bartenders are generally cool and the drinks are cheap. Also the hoops machine and pool table make it a fun spot that is rarely frequented by the typical basic masses that inhabit the UES. Go here.

It was loud and crowded, but it was also a a Saturday night. Pool and basketball, cheap drinks, free potato chips(Utz– my absolute favorite), and a very low minimum on cards(two drinks, so $ 10 or $ 12). The bathroom was DISGUSTING. One stall was full of diarrhea and menstrual blood, and the other had a girl vomiting in. It smelled so bad in there, and I couldn’t pee! There were so many other girls waiting on line and none of us could go. I ended up telling the bartender, and, to my surprise– THEYCLEANEDIT!!! That earned them an extra star, because most bartenders couldn’t even be bothered for things like that. Douchebag dudes hogging the pool table, but whatever. I’d go back. I like it.

Please do not go tourist on me, It was a great place and a nice way to hang after work. Prices are fair, service was good, and hey they have ‘Utz’ chips. Bartender was friendly and wanted to get to know us, helped my date with beer ideas. Please do not ever change a thing regarding the décor, staff, and vibe!!!

Great casual bar with pool, darts and my favorite — bar basketball! That’s what brings me here for drinks occasionally– impossible to find this amazing fun bar game in the city. Hoops! :D

A great neighborhood establishment. This Irish bar has been operating in the same location since the late 1970’s, which is very impressive by the standards of an ever-changing NYC. I was told by a family friend, who was a patron for over 15 years, to come here for the first time about 5 years ago. All it took was one outing to keep me coming back. The ambience is casual and welcoming. The bartenders consistently provide quality service, including solid pours, friendly conversations, and good jokes. They know how to keep their customers happy, and that makes for a great atmosphere. I mean, how could you be upset when you are provided complimentary bags of UTZ chips? The bar setup is great. Downstairs features a large bar, seating areas, televisions, pool table, darts, and Hoop Fever. Upstairs is a more intimate setting with a smaller bar, lounge seating, a fireplace, and a big screen television. The upstairs is open to the public on occasion, but they also hold private events in this area. Perhaps my favorite part about this place is they are active in the local community. They host a myriad of events, including«Movember» fundraising, a farewell party for Lorenzo’s(longstanding shoe repair business), and a «Stoop to Nuts» show in the month of November alone! I highly recommend coming here for a casual drink or one of their events.

Laid back, charming, old school pub. Casual atmosphere, somehow sophisticated and easy at the same time. Yorkville is becoming my new favorite neighborhood.

Outside of Ireland, I do not spend much time in Irish pubs, so this place was a great surprise. This was the first place I hung out with Karen and she taught me about«buybacks»(Buy 3, get 1 free, the night is primarily a blur). I did not realize cider was a thing and sure as hell did not know it was something you could have on tap. This place was far too clean for a dive bar, the bartender was a genuinely nice human being and the interior was spacious and inviting. The laid-back vibe was welcome in an otherwise pretentious-lite part of town. The free Utz potato chips were nice but the liquor was strong. Luckily no one complained that I had more than two bags.

Ryan’s daughter is my absolute favorite Irish bar in town. Two girlfriends and I just wanted to stop by for a drink about a year ago — and it happened to be one of the most fun nights ever(left at 2AM). Since then I’ve been visiting Ryan’s daughter almost every week. Pool, hanging out, drinks, relaxed atmosphere, fun people, and especially Walter is like the bars embodiment. He just makes this place complete and fills it with happiness and inspiration. I had so many laughs and good times with him! Simply love the place.

AMENDED: Since posting this review, I have been reached out to by a couple of people, including the owner of the bar expressing their sincerest apologies and regrets over the incident I describe below. He is taking steps to make the situation right and I am really grateful for that. It is a relief to see that ownership and fellow patrons care so much about keeping this establishment friendly and about making sure its fellow customers feeling warm and safe here. Thank you so much. — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - - It gives me pain to write a bad review about this place because generally it is warm and friendly but I recently had an extremely poor experience where the drunk bartender called me the«c word» out loud to my face at the bar. I couldn’t believe how unprofessional this guy was. He was tall, bearded, and tripping over himself while neglecting many bar patrons. I asked for 2 Bronx draughts and he said ok. then helped someone else. Then he came back minutes later asking what I wanted, completely forgetting my order. Again I asked for 2 Bronx beers. He said OK and got 2 bud bottles. I said«sorry, no this isn’t what I ordered I wanted the Bronx beer» and he called me an «f — ING c – t.» Obviously I was beyond shocked and appalled by that disgusting use of a disgusting word and he began mocking me at the bar and hitting me in the head with an inflatable object of some sort. Not funny. Not friendly. He finally got the beers for me and it took several attempts to get my card closed out. First time in my life I tipped 0.00. He was a fool and has ruined my opinion of this otherwise great place.

Walter is the reason Ryan’s Daughter gets 5 stars! He’s the best, friendliest, coolest bartender I have ever encountered! His hats are awesome. The bar itself is 4 stars. –board games –pool –basketball(like the ones from arcades) –darts –free chips –cheap drinks Bar runs long, and there’s an upstairs with comfy couches. Another perk, NYCFC employees and players come here after all their games.

This a big size divy bar to go with a big group of friends to play some pool, shot some hoops with the basketball game in the back and drink cheap beer! I’ll be back here without a doubt

Spent Valentines Day here for my girlfriend’s 21st birthday and had a great night. Returned after a month to take a visiting friend out to one of our local favorites and was denied service from the self proclaimed manager on duty because our out-of-state Arizona IDs look«dodgy» Anyone familiar with the Arizona IDs know that they have a very long expiration period. Hopefully the super rad manager there will update his knowledge on state IDs since ID checking is literally half his job other than pour drinks Disappointed at the embarrassing experience and will not be returning.

What a lovely neighborhood bar! Couple of my friends are regulars, so we went in on Thursday night. Immediately were agreeable to really friendly bartenders. One had an Irish accent, I think, and the other one was named Walter and was super super funny. Even though it was a Thursday night, it wasn’t too crowded which was actually perfect. There were people there, but everyone was seated at the bar and we could all hear each other speak. I had a few shots — Jameson I think? — and a draft of Coors light. The shots were nice and strong. The bartenders also hand out these bags of potato chips for a snack.

Badass Hard Cider bad ass hard cider Please excuse me. That was for the search engine spiders. The best cider I’ve had on tap since I used to hang out in the Bainbridge section of the Bronx during the 90s. When the bars were taking up collections for Sinn Féin right under my nose, and I only found out when the next week I come back only to find that the FBI shut it down in a raid. I don’t think you get how good. So good it took me back to House of Pain and my painful crush on Everlast and the envy I had of his USPS cap. Don’t worry. After working for the Post Office for 2 years, I’m so over it. I wouldn’t even wear the uniform home. But if you play«Jump Around» I will rap the entire thing at the top of my lungs while jumping up and down like an idiot. Thank God I don’t have kids. I would embarass them to death. First of all Ryan’s Daughter has a cider on tap. That alone has put them in a special place in my heart. But to not have done the pedestrian thing and serve Magner’s… Magner’s is a decent, serviceable cider. But that’s like having sex and not… Okay I’ll keep this PG. No. They decide to put on the most delicious one I’ve ever had. Any cider connoisseur knows it’s best when not served in a bottle or can. Can… *shudder* Between guffawing with Eva. T and my newfound love of Badass Cider, I almost can’t tell you much more about the bar. It’s bigger than I expected. Lots of floor space even with the pool table. The bartender was sweet and kept us swimming in free chips. And as usual, you get the beloved Irish Bar Buyback. This is why you go to an Irish bar folks. Buy three, get one free. So whenever you see an Irish flag flying out front, you might as well apologize to your liver ahead of time and head on in. The other way this is closer to my Bainbridge Irish Bars of old, they don’t serve food, but let you order in. I actually like the option of getting whatever I want. Craving pancakes, go ahead order them from the diner nearby. Because I now I really want to see someone eating pancakes in a bar at night. Why couldn’t you be on the UWS, Ryan’s Daughter??? You’re going to make me take the crosstown bus aren’t you? *sigh* For you I’ll make the sacrifice.
