I’m a big proponent of apples-to-apples reviews. For quick, fun, well made Asian-fusion, this is a great choice. I go about once a month, fried spring rolls and pork chops every time. Good beers on draft, quick service, consistent really good food. Highly recommend

Great food and soups are amazing! I am gluten free and i had their shrimp soup and just some steamed chicken and broccoli. Really good. The waiter kept on refilling my water glass. Very happy with the service. The best part i didn’t get sick. I will eat there again and again.

Excellent hearty Vietnamese food. Big portions, lots of carbs not quite as much meat as hoped. No. 14 p.m. the lunch menu, Vietnamese pad Thai was good.

Rudest service we ever encountered tonight when we dined here. Waiter gave us no greeting at all, just stared at us absolutely poker faced, and all he said was, «What do you want?» Taken aback, we ordered drinks, which he plunked loudly on the table in front of us, and immediately walked away without asking if we were ready to order. We had to flag down someone else to take our order, as this first server ignored us the whole night. When the second server brought our food, he practically threw it on the table in front of us, walked away, and never checked back to see if we were happy or wanted something else. And the weirdest part is, when my husband was trying to pay the bill, the waiter actually reached for the pen as my husband was still trying to write. Have never encountered anything quite like this. We left without having dessert, as no one asked us if we wanted one anyway. Tried to tell our«greeter» who we encountered when we first came in about why we were dissatisfied, but he just grimaced at us and walk away. Service so rude it gave us chills! Think long and hard before you give this place a try.

This is still one of the best places to eat in NYC. The venue itself is beautiful, the lighting is very intimate. The food portions are large and hearty. Absolutely no complaints. I love their pad Thai!

The taste is not bad but the size of the small phở was too small. It was more like an appetizer size

This is not the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had, but overall this is a nice experience in the restaurant wilderness called Union Square and in a city where Vietnamese cuisine is not prevalent for reasons that I do not understand. Saigon Market has several things going for it: – It is a spacious and nice restaurant, unlike many more casual Vietnamese cafes –The menu actually is Asian fusion and includes Chinese and Thai dishes as well as Vietnamese – The menu options are ginormous, so there’s something for everyone. – Our service was friendly and fairly attentive. I chose the soup with chicken and lemongrass broth, and the pork chop. Both were excellent choices. The pork chop consisted of 3 sizable grilled pork chops, which were really delicious. I promised to bring one home for lunch the next day but instead could not resist eating it at my table. For drinkers, the menu contains several cocktail, beer, and Vietnamese beer options. If you’re looking for Asian fusion or Vietnamese in the Union Square area, this is a solid choice.

I am surprised that this place does not have a higher rating! The service here is so quick!(Not always a good thing but when your hungry it’s great!) we started with chicken summer rolls, Tom nuong sate(shrimp skewers), cha Gio(fried spring rolls) and assorted crystal steamed dumplings. All of those were delicious! For entrees we had«spicy and tasty chicken», ga xao dau ve(chicken with string beans) and Tom xao can ot(lemon grass prawns) the 2 chicken dishes were great, I would not recommend the shrimp. It was served with an option of white, brown or sticky rice. We got the sticky rice which was great but do note that it is coconut flavored. Also you must try the pomegranate mojito it’s amazing! All in all a great meal. We will be back!

This is my favorite Vietnamese place. The prices are very good considering the quality of the food and the large portions. In terms of appetizers, the spring rolls are expensive but flavorful. I highly recommend the La Sa Tom soup — the shrimp coconut curry noodle soup. The large is very large, so the small will usually suffice unless you’re sharing with a big group. For entrees, I recommend the bun — cold vermicelli noodles, as well as the Bun Xao — Vietnamese pad Thai. I’m not the type to get pad Thai at Thai restaurants, but the Vietnamese style one that they have is very delicious and large. The ginger chicken is also quite good, as long as you like strong ginger flavors. For rice, I would stick with the typical brown or white rice option. I ordered the sticky coconut rice and it had only a very mild coconut flavor. The drinks are also slightly expensive — around $ 9 – 11 each but they are large and tasteful. I’ve tried the Long Island iced tea and the Sex on the beach and they are both good. The only problem I’ve had with this place was the service the last time I came. The server, Alice, rushed us on New Years Eve even though the restaurant was half empty and it was 7 o’clock. Also, our food came out within around three minutes since we had ordered it and we found that a bit suspicious. Alice gave us our check before we asked for it and before we had even finished our drinks. What if we had wanted to order more drinks? On the bill there was a review option and I had checked«good» for the service rather than excellent and written next to it «felt very rushed». After she took the bill, another worker and her had a conversation about it very close to us(I know because she pointed at our table and the other server turned). Then, she proceeded to obviously cross out the comment that I had written before she went to turn it in. Excuse me? Either way, I’m not going to rate this restaurant as a whole because of one really rude server. Every other time, my experience has been amazing and I’ll be coming back. Hopefully she won’t be there as my server again.

First and last time I order from this place … After waiting almost an hour to get my food … I found a piece of metal nail in my food … Called the rest and the only solution was to give me a credit for future orders … UNBELIEVABLE!!! Not even an apology !!! I took pictures of the piece of metal found in my food … I do not recommend this place to no one … Unless you really want to die choking on a piece of metal !!! — this place must be dirty and filthy to find stuff like this in your food !!!

Wow, how awesome. I love a good Asian cuisine, so this place really met my expectations. The time I came here, my date and I ordered an appetizer and a main dish to split. They have a huge list of yummy cuisines from Prawns to rice and fish dishes, so it was pretty difficult to make a decision –everything sounded so good. We started out with their shrimp summer rolls. They looked amazing, but they turned out being just okay. I wish the lettuce wrap around the roll was a little fresher tasting. Each roll at only one shrimp in it. Since I absolutely love shrimp, I was disappointed that there was only one in each. We then ordered the salmon which was actually amazing. It was cooked very well and seasoned to perfection. Left us wanting more. Overall, this place turned out being very satisfying. It’s the perfect atmosphere to go out friday night with the lady friends or out with a date. It’s in a prime location in Union Square, so easy to get to. The service is pretty good and there’s a ton of seating(we thankfully got right in, especially being a Saturday night at 7pm). I must say, the prices were pretty steep, like $ 20 or more for just one entrée. It must have been the dinner menu. Other than that, the place definitely worth trying, especially if you’re in the Union Square area.

Saigon Market is definitely a place worth visiting. First off, there will probably be no wait as the place is huge inside with tons of seating. Service is friendly and the food arrives very quickly. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. While the phở noodles here are okay, what really sticks out is the Bun Xao noodles and the Bo Luc Lac(beef steak cubes). A great place for Vietnamese food.

So I didn’t realize it when I stumbled in, but Saigon Market is the kind of place you go with a group of people — a large group of of people(or at least a small group of really hungry people). On a recent trip to NYC, I explored the streets of Manhattan,(alone) looking for a late dinner. After a couple of misses, I decided to give Saigon Market a try. The first thing you’ll notice is that unlike many of intimate eateries peppered throughout NYC, where people are crammed into a shoebox space, practically sitting on each other’s laps, Saigon Market is huge. They can accommodate a lot of people here. I was seated right away and given a glass of water. Their menu is expansive. So many choices. I settled on my Vietnamese go-to: Xuong Nuong or grilled marinated pork chops with a side of fried spring rolls. When the food arrived, I realized that this was a place better suited for«family style» eating. I was expecting a small mound of rice and a pork chop. What I got instead was a platter with a stack of three huge grilled pork chops. And a small mound of rice. The pork was perfectly grilled, succulent(and greasy), with the perfect amount of char to offset the saltiness of the dish. A garnish salad of pickled vegetables helped balance things out. It was an amazing experience and I couldn’t stop eating. As I was halfway through the second chop I could easily see myself finishing the entire dish myself. But then I stopped myself, thinking — this is a plate that is supposed to be shared by a small family, not devoured by a single person. I slowed myself down, and as the rice began to expand in my stomach, I began to feel uncomfortably full. I ended up taking the last chop to-go. The spring rolls were nicely prepared — deep fried and served with some lettuce for wrapping. I wish there was a little more. Good stuff. All in all, I left more than satisfied. At $ 18.50, the three-chop platter was a bargain, especially by NYC standards. If you’ve got a group of people, all wanting to partake in some authentic Vietnamese cuisine, look no further than Saigon Market! Enjoy!

The food is OK, the portions are large and service is fine. Some of the dishes are more Chinese than Vietnamese but the phở was OK. The place is large and can accommodate a big dinner party.

#This place has been here for a long time, right? My first time here. It reminds me of a dimly lit #Disney tiki restaurant. The space is huge. My food was decent, especially for the price. «The Price is Right» –Bob Barker. The servers remind me of #old school Chinatown waiters(i.e. Wo Hop, Hop Kee). All business, no fun.

I was here yesterday. I got here very near the end of the lunch special hours. I looked at the menu which had included which ones were on the lunch special. I ordered La Sa Tom soup I had considered one of the different types of phở but I was having beef for dinner and I wanted something with heat. I was given my food within 5 minutes. They also brought over metal containers to add extra heat in 3 different ways– one had raw sliced jalapenos, a thick chili paste and the red chili paste with the seeds you sometimes get when you ask for hot pepper in an East Asian restaurant. I added about a tablespoon of the sauce without the seeds and some of the raw jalapenos which I let sit in the hot broth to cook a little. It was flavorful before those additions but even better with those additions in my opinion because I like heat. There was lots of basil in the soup as well as cilantro which I liked. I was glad I let the jalapenos sit in the broth before tasting them with my soup. Raw jalapenos can be harsh. The service was professional and prompt. I was asked if I wanted anything else before the presented me with the bill.

Came here with a friend for lunch on a Thursday. Their lunch special was good, but just comes with the entrée. However, the large serving sizes are very filling. I got the pork chops, and they were great. It’s a special type of BBQ sauce, so it’s not as thick but has a slightly sweeter aftertaste. My friend ordered the Bun Xai with beef, which tasted a bit bland to me. Otherwise, it was a good experience. The interior was great and they have a wonderful bar.

This is a very overpriced Vietnamese restaurant. Unfriendly waiters… Would it kill you to smile? Geez! I’m just hoping I can change my review when I visit them another time. My experience with my friends was pretty bad. We ordered a bowl of phở and some other dishes. I’m not even complaining about the price. It’s the city! That doesn’t stop me from complaining about the staff… Please smile and be a little friendlier guys. I’m a pretty good tipper lol Will I come back… I’m hoping if I do, the staff will be a bit different and not look so angry.

The size blew me away!(that’s what she said lol) Seriously this is a massive restaurant, for NYC. I love how open it is, really reminds me of the Asian restaurants I frequent in the Midwest, super authentic feel. The Phở Ga is my absolute fave! It’s the best I’ve had in NYC and it being on the lunch special list is a plus. Very well flavored and great portion size. Because I’m such a creature of habit, I have yet to try anything else. Maybe next time. They do have happy hour at the bar beginning at 4pm during the week, hopefully I can return during that time. If you’re a Phở lover like I am, this is a spot you need to visit!

In an area with lots of great casual choices, this is an excellent spot for large groups– the round tables can fit 10 people comfortably and the dishes are definitely geared for sharing. I wish the tables were outfitted with Lazy Susans so that passing around dishes was easier… We ordered a bunch of dishes and were struggling to make sure everyone got to taste everything. The standouts were the Spring Rolls(but I want to come back to try the Summer Rolls), grilled prawns(very small for the price), and Bo Luc Lac(cubed steak). Ginger chicken was also good, and I would be curious to try it again. Probably would skip the Fried Rice and Pad Thai next time as they were both pretty bland. All the traditional Vietnamese side salads(lightly pickled carrots/cucumbers) added lightness and the dipping sauce that came with most of the dishes is needed on probably everything. When given the option, definitely order STICKYRICE. MMM so delicious, with slight coconut flavors and goes well with everything!
