Savoy Bakery

A hidden gem in east Harlem. Great pasties and baked goods. Their Almond croissant is to die for! The layers of folded flour, butter, and sugar have been mastered in this recipe! Their regular croissants are just as good. Their angel sponge cakes are also really delicious if you’re looking for something on the lighter end. I’ve ordered a large fruit tart before and it had my senses tingling. You won’t regret it! They also have good coffee and lattes at reasonable prices. Their small iced latte is 3.75 compared to another place that charges 5.00+ in the same neighborhood.
The only thing I would like to see improved is the customer service which has some slight inconsistencies. Overall it’s usually good but I came by this morning and the lady behind the counter was chatting with a gentleman for a few minutes with no acknowledgement of customers coming in. Until he left is when she asked how I was doing what I wanted to order. Needless to say, she got my order but it came out wrong. Some of the staff working here also look like they dread being here. Have some enthusiasm when you’re at the job since this is a customer service oriented profession!

The fruit salad cake is perfect. Really light and not too sweet. The staff is always so pleasant and helpful. Worth the trip uptown!

3.5 stars. Not too impressed with the tiramisu but the latte was good and service was attentive. Selection of sweets was limited when I was in but I would go back for the coffee and try something else.

Chinese bakery goods (pastries such as pineapple bun, coconut crème bun) at a Harlem café? Imagine my pleasant surprise to see Chinese bakers working in the back and a few Chinese buns in the front! Obviously Chinatown bakery prices beat these but loving that this even exists!

Stopped in today because it was the closest thing to our apartment rental and was very pleased. My mom and I loved the almond Danish, while my dad loved the chocolate croissant. My daughter had a roll with a sugar cream filling. So delicious with a latte! l or chai tea… will definitely go back!

Consistent, reliable neighborhood coffee shop. Croissants and pastries always fresh. Love the friendly, caring staff.

Love this place. Their desserts are so yummy and the prices are even better. Love stopping by here when I’m on my way to either the library or post office around my neighborhood.

So I had my sons first birthday cake done here. It’s a Pablo from backyardigan cake and it is beautiful! Not tasting until tomorrow so I will update on taste but I love how detailed it is. Thank you ladies
UPDATE!!! OK I promised to review the taste as well. The cake turned out to be extremely dry. I’ve had fondant cakes before and none were ever this bad tasting. I know how to make a cake and I know fondant can be heavy but a cake shouldn’t be so dry that I can’t even grasp the flavor. The person in the bakery tried to tell me they tasted it earlier and it was fine. Really you work there you can say anything. Then I was offered a new cake for half the price of what I payed. SERIOUSLY? So the other half of My money goes down the drain. If a customer isn’t happy with the product then you as a business should accomodate them rightfully.

for harlem its not bad. really hope they start getting more non dessert or treat based food and more sandwiches and other good food.

Savoy is all the best parts of Spanish Harlem wrapped up in a little bake spot.
The vibe is casual, minimal, clean. There are a few crate like seating options. Yankee paintings, stone floors, well air conditioned, immaculate and some ambient pop r&b playing in the background.
They sell simple sandwiches and have a daily soup — like chicken tortilla,
The baristas are super professional. Which sounds odd, but they sometimes wear little jackets over summer frocks. It may be to keep the AC frost off their shoulders but for me it is so indicative of what I love about SpaHa… there is dignity and pride available in whatever your do. Plus any day is a day to look cute.
The real treat are light as air, not too sweet pan dulce, cloud like sponge cakes in a wax paper cones, assorted muffins and ridiculously indulgent cakes and refreshing little tarts.
The cakes emphasize fruits and subtle flavor. The baker is light handed with sugar so if you want to try a couple of postres you won’t have a sugar hangover. It’s a nice spot.

Diamond in the rough, in a tough part of town. Coffee, as a previous reviewer said, is hit or miss. Sometimes cold. Sometimes grounds at the bottom. Also, such a tense environment. I imagine the employees must get up early, and deal with some crankballs in the morning, but it’s always so super serious inside. Smile, damnit. Fake it! I started going to Uptown Roasters on 110^th instead.

I took a morning walk over the bridge and ended up at Savoy on Mothers Day. Great place, excellent croissants, both the chocolate and the original (nothing plain about it) I’ve been back twice and i’m not heavy into breads, but this place? Excellent. The ladies were helpful, and the older gentleman behind the counter suggesting for me to eat up and get a little extra meat on my bones, was funny. Great café style place, really.

Omg… I had the strawberry shortcake and it was the best. I wish they’re close to me so i ciulc go everyday and purchase the sponge cake and the strawberry shortcake.

Excellent coffee. In fact, I would say it’s by far the best in the neighborhood. Nice staff… most of the time. But man, they make this banana pastry thing that is out of control. It is so great! Really the only really good coffee joint in the area.

Lately coffee has been EXTREMELY hit or miss. Which is fine — they are a bakery after all — but they just upped the prices of all of their coffee, so I really expected the coffee quality to be better now. I’m also not convinced that some of the girls behind the counter know the difference between an espresso drink and brewed coffee.

Great spot in east harlem to grab a coffee and chocolate croissant. The staff are so friendly and the place is always relaxed and welcoming. Their bakery items are fantastic — my favorite: chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and red velvet cake.
On Fridays they serve an amazing shrimp/​corn chowder. Go early because they sell out fast!

Talk about dodging a bullet.
My Husband and I were looking for a Bakery to make our Wedding Cake. I had emailed several Bakeries including Savoy. We ended up going with another Bakery but I wanted to write this review to warn other Brides. This Bakery is just awful.
It took forever for the person I was corresponding with to get back to me. At one point I even called the Bakery to speak to my contact. The lady who answered the phone was nasty. Frankly I was taken aback by her attitude. My contact was not in so I left a message. He never called me back or replied to my later emails. As a potential customer you want to know that whomever you are dealing with will get back to you in a reasonable amount of time. If he behaves like this before being hired. Can you imagine how he would be if you hired him? No thanks. I’ll pass.
Whether a customer goes to the Bakery in person, makes contact over the phone/​email. The same level of respect and courtesy should be shown. You could have the best tasting baked goods. None of that matters if you have terrible customer service skills. Too many great Bakeries in Harlem to put up with bad customer service.

Just moved to the neighborhood and absolutely love this place. I stop in occasionally before work for their yummy chocolate croissant and a coffee. Where else can you spend only $ 3.60 for a chocolate croissant and coffee??! I’ve also had their strawberry shortcake — very fresh and very yum, as well as their red velvet cupcake. I wasn’t as wooed by the cupcake — it was actually a little *too* moist, but the frosting was yummy and just the right amount.
You honestly cannot beat Savoy’s prices! It’s my favorite new morning spot.

I really enjoy this bakery! It is right by the 110 & Lexington Subway and conveniently located for me.
The price for the small salad given all the toppings you can add is really great! The banana turnover is AMAZING! Like seriously I have to stay away from it or else I will have it twice a day everyday. The iced coffee was made to perfection… not too sweet with just the right amount of cream. The chocolate chip cookie had a perfect amount of cookie to chips ratio and was so soft!
Love this place!

What can I say about this place? Is a wonderful trendy place that usually throw some interesting events, such as open mic poetry event. If you have either, lyrics that you want the world to know, attend! I recommend you to call first regarding this. I usually pass by the shop and view their wall postings. You may find things that may interest you, so look.
Now let talk baked goods! All are fresh and quite tasty. The price are reasonable. I would recommend you to try their either their cheesecakes or strawberry shortcakes!
