Good food on the cheap side, but this comes with a big HOWEVER! They told me that my card had been denied and I had sit on the phone with my bank, only to find out that it had actually gone through and they ended up running my card again and double-charging me. This wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but the waitress told me this happens all the time! Never going back there again. Cash should be fine though.

Found this place while walking back to our hotel late one night and enjoyed it so much we went back again a few nights later. We were looking for a late night breakfast to take back to our hotel room(at 1 am). We ordered waffles and pancakes… service was great, the gentleman at the counter who helped us both nights couldn’t have been nicer. The deserts in the case looked really good, but we didn’t have a chance to try them. Maybe next time!

I fully intend to move to New York just so I can keep eating at Scotty’s Diner. This is the second time this week I’ve gone there at midnight to get an omelet, and both times I’ve had an amazing experience. The staff is friendly and fast, and the food is delicious! Thank you!

Very good greasy spoon diner in Murray Hill. I stopped in one night while staying overnight in the neighborhood and ordered the french dip. My meal was very tasty and my coffee cup was kept full. Nice polite staff as well — no sure what the previous, sensitive reviewers are complaining about.

Decent late night snack — cheesecake and tiramisu was good for 11:30 at night. Milkshake was not thick and was more like a glass of chocolate milk. But as I said, for 11:15 on a Sunday night after a show, it did the job.

Very dive-y diner, a little too much for my tastes. We were in the area at a tequila restaurant /bar that closed too early for food — and after cocktails I wanted a little something to eat so Unilocaled food or diners nearby. This was one of the only places that showed up. The block seemed kind of deserted even at 12 Friday but we ventured in. I ordered a vegetable omelette with ham, and the quality wasn’t great. Canned mushrooms, huge chunks of tomatoes. Perhaps if I had more tequila it would have tasted better but — being sober — not so great. My friends tuna sandwich was pretty good and the French fries with gravy were tasty. Service was good, friendly and quick.

We went here for lunch with 5 and had sandwiches which come with pickles and coleslaw. The coleslaw had to much mayo and was not freshly made. The pickles were too salty. But you will not be disappointed if you go for sandwiches. I had the Rueben with pastrami with swiss melt on a slice of bread. The price is around 12 dollar. In the check they already included service 15% and asked me if I needed change??? Service and food good but would not go back to this place again.

Scotty’s was awesome! Good food, great service, reasonable prices… And open 24⁄7. We ate two late dinners and one breakfast here during our week stay in Manhattan and wish we had a Scotty’s Diner at home.

I had breakfast there with my family on our last trip to NY. We had pancakes with blueberries and strawberries, butter and syrop and some eggs Benedict with salmon. Best pancakes I’ve eaten so far in NY. Service was average but the food was really good so we’ll probably go back next time we’re in town.

Fui ao Soctty’s para conhecer o tradicional café da manhã americano, e amei. Não deixou nada a desejar, tem várias opções no cardápio, e é muito saboroso, com preço acessível e bom atendimento, recomendo.

I stopped in here based on prior Unilocal reviews, and I’m glad that I did. The service was friendly, the order was accurate and quick, and the food tasted great. Granted, I had a few lazy sodas in my gullet, but my omelette was the cat’s meow. Scotty’s is a shining example of what a small diner should be. Thanks to the staff for a pleasant experience. I will be back for more!

Do not order from this place. They messed up my order and then told me to «f#%# off» when I called to tell them that an item that I had paid $ 10 for was missing. How ridiculous. After that, the manager got on the phone and told me that I had said vulgarities to their employee(which I hadn’t) and that is why they responded that way. Scotty’s — learn how to run a business. When you mess up an order — it’s definitely okay — but take responsibility. I don’t want to pay for something that you didn’t actually send, so just refund me for that item. I’m happy to pay for what you did send. And teach your phone staff how to deal with customers. Swearing at them when they are only reporting a missing item is absurd. You don’t deserve to even have a business in this city.

I am hungover and angry(I think rightfully so, but you can be the judge). I just want french fries with my burger — please just give me fried carbohydrates. I ordered a burger with french fries, but the fries did not arrive. When I called to inquire about my fries, they told me that I didn’t order the delux burger and therefor don’t get fries. «But wait,» I cried. «The delivery dot com order I put in very clearly and plainly says that fries come with the order.» Too bad, he says, too bad. I offered to pay for the fries and instead of saying yes, he continued to argue with me about the fries. I just want my fries. ALSO, they charge you $.30 for the takeout container that the food comes in. WHODOESTHAT!!!

Heard nothing but good thin about this establishment so I decided to give it a shot. The place is clean and the people are very friendly. Had the patty melt and boy was it tasty. The fries were nice and crispy and I will be dining here again.

If you’re planning to spend a day walking around Manhattan doing touristy stuff, you’d better put away a big breakfast. Remember, you need a lot of fuel to keep those legs moving, and there’s nothing better than walking out of a diner feeling horribly full and being able to say a couple hours later«guess we walked that breakfast off!» when it turns out you’re hungry again. Scotty’s is nothing special, just the run of the mill midtown diner serving the usual fluffy pancakes, the usual not at all fluffy scrambled eggs, and the usual done to a crisp bacon, all with coffee that won’t win any awards but is still probably better than the evil green empire on every corner. There are enough of these around town that you don’t need to go far to seek Scotty’s out, but if you’re nearby and need that power breakfast, this place will do you fine.

Love, love, love Scotty’s! My husband and I come here every time we’re in NY, at least 3 times per trip. it’s the quintessential New York diner. They have everything under the sun and it’s on your table in about 5 minutes. It’s really unbelievable how they have the system down. The servers are all really nice and very efficient. The breakfast is always great. My husband usually gets the salami and eggs. I usually get a Greek omelet or a bagel and lox. The bagels are great, and you can substitute one for your toast on any egg order. For lunch or dinner, we will often get the gyro platter(delicious). You can’t go wrong with Greek specialties in a NY diner since they are almost all owned and operated by Greeks. They know what they’re doing! The hamburgers are also really great — very traditional old school burger. If you’re looking for super casual, reasonably priced good comfort food in midtown East side, you can’t go wrong with Scotty’s!

Diners are not easy to come by in the city. But Scotty’s hits the spot when you are looking to just grab a simple meal. The staff is really polite, but during lunch hour things can get pretty hectic. During my visit to Scotty’s, I had their pizza burger. It was okay, nothing special. But pretty good for the price you pay. It was a huge portion and also had fries on the side. I was really full when I left.(Just a warning though, eating their Pizza Burger can get pretty messy. So ask for extra napkins!) Overall, this place has a nice atmosphere and is a good place to go to grab lunch with coworkers.

Had a late night bite here as we wanted to try a new diner during a recent trip to NYC. Our travels take us to this neighborhood a lot so looking at new options is always something we do. The food was good and the service was very good. Friendly waiter who took care of us with a smile, which can be a rarity in a NYC diner… Scotty’s is on our list for when we need a quick bite.

Having just grabbed bagels our first couple mornings in NYC, I knew I wanted to sit down to breakfast to kick off our last day. Just down the street from our hotel in Murray Hill my family and I found Scotty’s Diner, a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week diner that has been open for many years. We were greeted by a friendly man who easily could have been one of the brothers who owned the place. He also was our server for breakfast, which was served fast and always with a smile. I ordered the Monte Cristo, French toast topped with turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese($ 10.95). The serving size was massive and the portion of French toast alone was what you would expect in most restaurants and it was quite good. The turkey on the other hand was very dry and lacking much of any flavor. The ham was better and the cheese was thick and plentiful. Overall I think I would skip this in the future and just go with the French toast and a side of meat. The Belgian waffle was just as you would expect($ 7.25) though the price was a little higher than normal. Our son requested this and though he is just three-years-old, he nearly ate the entire thing. He is fairly picky with his food these days, so that is definitely saying something. My wife went with a three egg omelette, the California if I remember correctly with avocado, mushrooms, and cheddar, served with potatoes and toast($ 10.95). She seemed to really enjoy the omelette, so add that to the list of good choices. I stole a few bites of her country-style potatoes and enjoyed them as well. Aside from the Monte Cristo, we had a great meal at Scotty’s with wonderful service and would easily recommend it.

I don’t get the hype in some of these reviews. It was okay at best. It is a true good old fashioned diner in Murray Hill, so that’s pretty cool. Then the similarities end. You have certain expectations for diners. They usually have great eggs. The entrees are sizeable and above average and remind you of some good home cookin’. This is not the case here. We live nearby so stopped by this fine establishment, since my dining companion was homesick for Long Island(har har). We ordered the meat omelet with bacon and the fettucini w shrimp and broccoli to share. An omelet and a pasta seemed pretty standard diner dishes and we were ready to eat. Boy were we disappointed. The omelet was fine. The bacon was not crispy and I think that’s what killed it. You don’t put soggy bacon in an omelet! Maybe on a steak it might be acceptable or as a wrap for some crab cakes… but not in an omelet! The pasta was significantly more disappointing. The pasta was bland. The shrimp was overcooked and the broccoli was basically raw. Not to mention it’s pretty overpriced for the rubbish food we were served. Don’t get me wrong. I’m only complaining about the food. The servers were great, unlike most diner servers in Manhattan.
