Yup! Great cheesesteaks! Nice cozy place — everything you want in a cheesesteak place. Simple small bar setting. Go here and enjoy.

Went for a walk to try a NYC Philly Cheesesteak. Eh… It was Ok. Being from Philly and growing up on Pats, Genos, Jims, etc… I have high standards. I had a Wiz-Wit. Steak was good, tender and decent taste. Needed more Wiz. As any good Philly Cheesesteak aficionado knows, its ALL about the Roll! The roll was decent… but just missing something. If they used Amoroso rolls it would be take it to the next level. The Italian fries were very good. The place was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night, so I got my order to go. Service was good and price was expected for a place in NYC.

Came here this past Monday with 2 of my best friends. What a blast we had. They have a great happy hour from 4 to7 pm $ 4 any beer $ 4 fries and $ 5 cocktails. We ended up staying till 9 because we really like the atmosphere. As for food I had the Italian fries omg so delicious and a regular cheesesteak with light onions. The cheesesteak was good not the best I have had but good especially in NY. I will definitely be back soon.

Who needs Philly when you have Shorty’s? I was surprised at how good the cheesesteak here was. I got one with wiz and fried onions. Also got a side of the Italian fries(basically fries with Italian seasoning and lots of grated cheese). Being a French fry fiend, I LOVED these. The fries($ 6) pushed the meal from reasonable to overpriced lunch(cheesesteak on its own is $ 12). Expensive lunch for $ 18 but on the other hand, I did have lots of leftovers. I would definitely go back.

What a great place to hang out with a few friends after work. Their happy hour specials are awesome. From 4pm-7pm: $ 4 any fries, $ 4 draft, and $ 5 shots. Cheesesteak here are pretty darn good. A bit too drippy for me, but it packs a ton of flavor. One thing I stay away from are the peppers here. Not only will it cost you extra $$, it’ll have you chugging beer after beer. So avoid it at all cost if you’re cheap like me. At such a prime location(near Time Square), there’s not much more you can ask for.

My second favorite cheese steak joint in New York City. But it’s a pretty fierce lineup so in this case, number two is a really good thing. This is THE place to be during happy hour where all the beers are just four bucks and they have various food specials going on as well. Just 10 blocks away from Penn Station means it’s not too much of a walk to catch my train afterwards, though I am a little jealous of the folks who can just go down the block to catch their bus back to New Jersey. Speaking of the beers, it’s a great selection of craft beer from across the country, and one of the few places in the city that I can count on to have Jai Alai from Cigar City Brewing in Tampa on hand year round. As far as the sandwiches, they are a little pricy with the starting price of $ 11, and then an up charge for each extra thing you put on the sandwich. The sandwiches generally are well prepared and the homemade bread that they use is pretty good– though being from Pennsylvania myself, it’s no substitute for s proper roll baked in Philly and delivered the same day. Fries leave a little to be desired as they are frozen with some type of batter on them– would personally prefer crinkle cut fries– that’s what the Philly steak restaurant I ate at as a kid had– guess it’s personal preference.

3.5÷3.75 stars. Rounding up because when I come to Shorty’s, I’m among my people. Something really really atrocious would have to happen for me to round down on any place affiliated with Philly. Well, something really really atrocious did happen while I was here but it had nothing to do with Shorty’s itself. Just the Eagles’ ineptitude. Came here to watch the Eagles-Redskins game this past Sunday and it was all kinds of crowded. People were unintentionally sitting on me at times. Not exactly optimal. My small star deduction is due to this, given that the Shorty’s in Flatiron is significantly more spacious. While we did get seats, they can be a blessing and a curse here — you can rest your legs but run the risk of being blocked by many bobbing heads. This all said, people are fairly considerate if you ask them to shift positions slightly. On Sundays, we’re all here for the same purpose — to hopefully watch our Birds win. So we can’t *really* get annoyed at anyone, because we’re all quite literally on the same team. So despite it being nearly impossible to navigate around in this place, I didn’t find myself running into any rudeness. Now onto the good. Most TVs are showing the Eagles when they’re playing — pretty standard. On this particular Sunday, the Giants were playing at the same time, so they had that game up as well. My semi-educated guess is that NFC East match-ups will always be shown over less relevant games. So if for some reason you’re a lost Giants, Cowboys or Washington fan(not getting into the name debate right now…), you might be able to find your game on here. But I have no idea why you’d come to an Eagles bar then, unless you’re a complete masochist. While I can’t speak to their cheesesteaks, I actually got a breakfast sandwich(I know I know, very weird… but I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet so…) here on Sunday and it was super tasty. Broccoli rabe, egg and provolone on a very fresh roll. Simple and delicious. Also — only six bucks! Not too shabby. Unlike the Flatiron Shorty’s, you should not expect a server to come by asking to take your order — it’s simply too cramped for that. So order at the bar, and someone will bring you your food promptly. Done and done. Yum and yum. And if you do want a cheesesteak, they’ve got an impressive variety to choose from here — if I see Philly fans genuinely enjoying cheesesteaks at a New York establishment, they’re bound to be good.

I needed a little blue moon and it was delicious. I really wanted to have a philly cheesesteak by my roomies cooked for me. I needed just ONE bite. I love how they have the HH deals on the east side. Not the same here. you get a beer and philly cheesesteak for 7.00 bucks, now that is what I’m talking about. I loved how cozy and small this one was. Overall they have bomb HH. 4.00 blue moons Im sold! Check it out… I love 9th Ave in NYC… :) so much to offer on this street.

A no nonsense cheesesteak. The bread was so unbelievably soft and fluffy. The steak was perfectly cooked, though lacking a little teensy bit of seasoning. And the cheese was perfectly melted into the steak. Conclusion: I can’t wait to come here again and get another cheesesteak.

I’ll never forget the time I made an intentional detour and went to the Shorty’s in Flatiron, only to be denied a beer by a very snooty bartender because I didn’t have my ID(seriously? I’m grateful you think I’m closer to my 20s than my 30s but we all know it’s because you’re a Phillies fan and I was wearing a NYGiants hat) who gave me the most condescending look when I sat at the bar and I ended up leaving without a sandwich. Sad day. Well, everything happens for a reason because I decided to try my luck elsewhere at a different location. And I’m so relieved I did. I was waiting for the bartender to ask me for my ID when I ordered an Allagash white, but she just simply smiled and poured me a draft on the spot. Plus, I fuggin love eating while watching football. Then I ordered a honey chipotle steak sandwich without the pepper jack(I’ve been trying to cut out as much dairy as possible from my diet these days) with sauteed mushrooms and hot peppers. HOLYSHIT. They are not kidding about the hot peppers. I took a few bites and my mouth was on fire. This is coming from a girl who has a pretty high threshold for spiciness. In fact, the heat was so unbearable I was ready to throw in the towel and pathetically take my sandwich home when I realized something. Oh, yes. Improvisation. Took my head out of my ass and scraped off all of the hot peppers and took it from there. The meat was perfect. Not too chunky, but thinly sliced enough to taste the flavor. Could’ve used more sauce and mushrooms, but it’s all good. And the bread was the perfect blend of crispy and fluffy. This sandwich will definitely leave you feeling full. I didn’t even bother ordering fries because I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish them(also staying away from fried foods). I’d love to come back here and try their chicken cheesesteak with cheese, this time. It definitely makes a difference. Oh, and my bartender was such a sweetheart which made things even better. Too bad, Flatiron snob. I’m a pretty nice tipper as well as a very easy patron to serve but that’s neither here nor there.

We drank a few and when the bill came, it was dirt cheap. It was happy hour! What more can I say? We accidentally stumbled upon this place as we had about an hour to kill in NYC. Really good beer selection and the food looked really yummy as well. Moments after we stepped in, a friendly server took our order. We were full but we drank a few beers(including a Delirium). If you are in the area and want to watch a game, chat with your bff, or however you like to have a good time, if it involves drinking go to Shorty’s. You will like it here. cheers!

Steak, cheese, and bread – three simple ingredients that when put together the right way can create a sandwich that brings a comfort that rivals any other sandwich you could get. Having been raised just about 90 miles from the Cheesesteak capital of the world, Philly, I always felt fortunate that if ever I was in the mood for a legitimate cheesesteak, I could just make a day trip out of it because, yes, I will drive close to 100 miles to get a fix – we’re talking food here, folks. So the day came where I was craving a cheesesteak and thanks to Unilocal I was able to find Shorty’s. Conveniently located a block away from the Port Authority, it was a 30 minute commute door to door. The vibe is cool. Neighborhood sports bar is what you feel upon walking in. Definitely your place to catch a game if you have the misfortune of having an allegiance to a team from Philly. Just kidding, my fellow Philadelphians ;) Moving forward, I liked how the menus were taped down onto the bar panel. Service was attentive. They carry enough of a beer selection to keep things interesting as well. The star of the show of course was the cheesesteak. I got their Steak Club sandwich with provolone, hot peppers, bacon, sauteed onions and mayo. The juices from the meat dampen up the bread, but don’t soak it to the point where it’s falling apart. The bread is fresh. I think they bring it in from Philly everyday. Hats off for that type of attention to detail, Shorty’s. Expect to get your meal pretty quickly also. So much for needing to drive 90 miles for a cheesesteak. Thanks, Shorty’s! You’ve gained a customer for life.

Great cheese steak and great beer. When ever I am in town I love to stop in a get a bite. Carry out service is super fast too. So fast the one time I ordered 2 subs with fries and sat down at the bar and couldn’t even finish off my beer before they were ready. The prices are good so I will always be back. Came in today during a snow storm and didn’t want to leave so pulled up at seat at the bar and enjoyed. The bar tenders are friendly and knowledgable.

I have been to the Flatiron location which is bigger than this location but it was my girls’ first time ever at any Shorty’s locations. There were two guys also waiting for a table and nice to give us the table because it was the three of us and they sat at the bar. Fries: Sweet Potato w/spicy mayo and Italian from the Happy Hour Menu Food: Steak Whiz Sliders with onions(my order), Chicken Steak Whiz Sliders with onions and a side of Pork Roll(my friend) and my other friend ordered a Chicken Cheesesteak with onions The food is extremely delicious and we had a great girls night out. Definitely the best spot to me on a Friday night after work to get loose to the kick ass music blasting!
