As much as I tried to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, I can’t.
I had been living in my building for 2 years, and paid the rent 2 – 3 months in advance.
The drama began with the construction. They totally took over my private back yard space, turning it into a construction staging area. As I paid a premium rent for that space, and had a dog, it was a huge inconvenience. I was told over and over again it was only for one more week. It ended up being for over 4 months. In addition to construction guys literally outside of my window all day every day, the dust and dirt led to needing professional cleaners 2 – 3 days per week. My requests for reimbursement were met with a ‘sure’ but the bills were never paid.
Their offices/​residences in Harlem were right down the street from our building, and they constantly complained about how much they hated living in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, those of us that loved living there couldn’t stay.
With 32 days remaining on my lease, they revealed that they were raising my rent by $ 1200/​month. I had no choice but to vacate, as that rent was beyond what I could pay– especially with only a 30 day notice.
If you’re looking for just a place to live/​store your stuff– take the risk. But if you are looking for a HOME in a neighborhood that you call your own, don’t get too comfortable with this property group.

We used to live in a clean safe building until these animals took over. Our building has turned in a filthy sewer on purpose because these guys want everyone out so they can knock the building down and build a luxury rental tower.

This is the worst management company ever. They think that because they have so much money and they could push around all the tenants. They bought my building and raised the rent on us by 80%, basically forcing us to move out. Our water is shut off at least twice a week and it took forever for the water to come back, which basically was a ploy to get us out.

It is now 4 years since Silverstone contractors broke thru my bathroom ceiling, knocked out the support to a wall, broke thru the ceiling over my shower and still no repair !
Add to this over two years complaining about water leaching into my bedroom and dissolving brick from obvious rooftop issue.
There are some pretty awful building maintenance/​ownership companies in NYC but this one belongs at the top.

This is by far the worst, most inattentive, most deceptive, and dishonest property management company I have ever dealt with by a long shot. Stay far away.
They have taken YEARS to fix leaks in my ceiling. Instead of being attentive to the damages, they tried to evict me for nonpayment when I withheld rent due to the lack of repairs.
They will consistently lie and cheat you to get every little penny. The people that work here are scumbags.

The worst group of people I have ever encountered. I lived in the Grayson on 28^th and 2^nd Avenue and the place was horrible. I thought I had done my thorough research but was doped but looking at the leasing office and thinking I was moving into a luxury building. Was ripped off for rent (my own fault, I signed the lease) but what occurred over the 6 months I lived there was bullish*t.
First of all, they promised construction would be complete months and months before it was actual done. I would walk into my apartment from work and saw dust and trash would be on my floor from construction work in the hallway. Trashcans and mini dumpster left in the hallway. Lights not working, broken wood in the hall, nails, etc. It was not acceptable.
Horrible management and they even ran an illegal hotel on 2 floors. They were having problems renting them out bc of all the construction so after seeing dozens of middle eastern tourists with massive suitcases in the lobby day after day, I figured out what was going to.
To help increase cash flow they were illegally renting out 2 floors for day to day guests. Several tenants called the city to complain. Definitely a safety concern. Why would I pay for a doorman building when random building are coming into the building and wandering around daily? Reported them to the city and finally management addressed it.
Heat went out for days at a time in the middle of winter.
Fortunately, given the legal situation, the property manager let my roommate and I legally step out of our lease. It was literally after 5 months of revolting against management and calling the CEO’s cell phone weekly did we finally get through. One of the worst groups of people to rent an apartment from. Caused me more headaches then I ever imagined.
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. DO NOT MOVE INTO THE GRAYSON OR ANY OTHER PROPERTY THEY OWN/​MANAGE.

They own the building that I currently live in, and it is dreadfully mismanaged. The building is dirty, infested, falling to pieces. Maintenance barely happens, the management cannot be reached. Greedy, faceless, useless.

Recently took my building over from previous management (we were notified of this purchase in July 2014, just as it was taking effect) and are terrible so far. Clearly they’ve stopped the monthly pest control sprays because I see roaches and centipedes everywhere; there has been a dead roach in the hall for at least a week, and one outside the main door. Happy to see they’ve also stopped sweeping/​washing the halls! The quarter machine in our laundry room has been broken for months, and the washers and dryers themselves burn/​put holes in all of your clothes. I mean, what are you doing if you aren’t taking care of the basics?

This management company is the absolute worst. It’s 90 degrees in my apartment and no air conditioning for weeks. No response when asked to repair. This isn’t the first time. The heat was out for weeks and they only bothered to fix it after I filed a complaint with the city and an inspector came and wrote them up. What a bunch of losers.

I live in an apartment owned by this group and it is the most unprofessional and immature organization I have ever dealt with. The employees here have no regard for the law or their tenants. Do NOT live in any of their properties.

I lived in a Silverstone owned apartment complex in Rochelle Park NJ. When I First moved in I noticed that outside my apartment the lights were filled with cob webs and flies. After about 10 emails and numerous amount of phone calls with no response to either I had to clean it up myself. I lived there for a year and not once did I see anyone who could help me with a question nor did any of my neighbors know who to contact. This group pretty much cares about your money and that’s about it. They have no consideration towards the tenant and then they tried to raise my rent $ 100.00…WHAT A JOKE… if they weren’t so irresponsible and neglectful towards their tenants maybe I would’ve considered, but NO THANKS!!!
P.S IT IS NOW 90 DAYS LATER AND I HAVE HAD TO CALL EVERYDAY TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF MY SECRUITY DEPOSIT!! DIFF STORY EVERYTIME I CALL… SMH.

This company is a joke. Avoid at all cost. 247 East 28^th is not what it seems. If you like a transient, unsafe, airbnb quality of living then by all means have fun meeting your random neighbors every other day.

Currently in the process of breaking lease due to the lack of fulfillment on promised amenities, quality of living, and illegal hoteling practices being exercised without any concern for their lease holding tenants.

I moved into a silverstone building back in October 2012. What seemed like a lovely studio at a modest price has turned into a complete nightmare! The boiler that is used for three buildings has been in disrepair for the entirety of the winter heating months, when it is on it bangs profusely all through the night not allowing any sleep! It is terrible! There is spotty heating and hot water. Not to mention the run around I’ve been given about what the problem is and when they will fix it… they said it has to be warm to fix it… are you serious! So here we are in April with no fix to the problem.
It takes about five times of RESENDING emails to get the property manager to respond with an «Ok». This property group needs to get it together. They buy too many properties and manage the upkeep and repairs so poorly, yet will gladly take your rent and say they are fixing problems that are never addressed.
Stay away!!!

Seriously think twice before renting with them (e.g., at the Grayson). I am a tenant at the Grayson and I can tell you, it’s been a horrible disappointment. We lose heat and hot water frequently. They rented out two floors of the building, which have been /​are being used as a hotel (think people with luggage moving in and out of the building constantly, cleaning ladies hogging washers and dyers with towels and linens, etc.). The amenities are still not finished. The construction is more intrusive then they let on. The staff is rude. The super is basically useless. Silverstone is a terrible landlord.

I currently live at 885 Park Ave, and this management company has recently taken over this building.
Since I moved in June 2010, basic building features have either fallen into disrepair or have disappeared altogether. The intercom stopped working after being here for about a month. It has never been adequately repaired and it still sits broken today.
The management company has reneged on a previous written agreement to allow zoned bicycle parking on each floor’s lobby. This is a converted warehouse building and there’s PLENTY of space in the lobbies for bike parking. There’s no way I’m locking my bike on the street — this is Bedstuy. I’ve had to move my bike from the lobby and prop it by my kitchen table.
Then there’s the inconsistent appearance of the security guard. Sometimes they’re there and sometimes they’re not. Sometimes there’s shady activity right outside the door and sometimes there’s not. I’ve witnessed people walking into the building without keys, unchecked. I signed my lease agreement with the understanding that there would always be an after hours security guard. Again, this is Bedstuy.
In a conversation I just had with a neighbor, I’ve learned that when lease agreements start expiring this year (2013), the management company is going to start raising some rental prices by $ 1300-​$ 1500/​month. They claim these prices are in line with the market value. If you live in this building, please check websites like

This company will try to play on your lack of knowledge on real estate/​neighborhood information. This is not a good neighborhood. Someone was just shot directly across the street the other day in the projects. My boyfriend has had shit thrown on him by random people on the street. Oh, and then there was the guy bleeding out on the sidewalk 3 weeks ago while neighbors just looked on (NO ONE HAD CALLED FOR HELP!)
They are just another shameless and greedy big company trying to squeeze every penny out of their tenants. I’m moving out as soon as the lease is up. I’m done with the management and the neighborhood.

These guys are terrible. The front office is a complete joke. They confirmed a date to change the windows in my apartment and did not show. While I was waiting for them to give me a new date, they called the locksmith to get into my apartment while I was at work. The new lock was not made sure to work and the door cylinder was broken, meaning I was locked out of my apartment until 2 am. They broke into my apartment without my knowledge or consent or any notice to change the windows.
I always pay my rent on time and I am a quiet tenant.
I had to take the next day off of work due to the door cylinder being broken.
They blamed the locksmith.
So, whether building management allows locksmiths to enter tenants apartments at will, or these guys are liars, my recommendation is to avoid at all cost.
Companies such as Silverstone is why Unilocal needs a zero star rating.

Wow, I’m glad I looked these guys up. I’m currently living month-​to-​month but looking for an apt with a close friend of mine. We checked out the Grayson on 28^th and 2^nd, and that place was a dump. So much for «luxury» building.
They basically took a crappy old apartment building and started renovating the units and lounge area. It’s not looking like they’ll be done construction soon, so I can’t say how it will look. Do they really want people to move in when it’s not even done yet? It looked like a hard hat area still.
Ignoring the building’s drab exterior and construction zone, it’s still a bad deal. First off, they were WAY overpriced for what you get. You’d think it was an entirely brand new building for what they’re asking. My problem with the space, though the model looked OK, is that the heating/​AC units are dated and not being replaced, plus things like windows are not energy efficient compared to newer buildings.
Plus, the neighborhood is pretty run down… there’s a lot of homeless people nearby, a dirty park that’s awkward to walk through, and what looked like a housing project a block over. The neighborhood isn’t as up and coming as the website makes it seem.
Anyway, between that and these reviews, they’re not getting an app from us.

I wish I can give half star if possible or NONE!!! I guess I live in the same building since I am having same problems at same time… Also, they are having all these constructions and my apartment gets all these dust with doors closed at all time. I went to business trip for 4 days and when I got back, my apartment was full of dust all over my stuffs… I’m sure they are not healthy dust!!!
I would never live in Silver Stone property group building!!! Highly suggest to stay away from them.

Silverstone recently bought the apartment I live in. I currently have no heat, hot water or gas. Sivlerstone has not returned any of my phone calls. Every tenant in my building is experiencing the same issue. I have not had heat, hot water or gas since Wednesday January 5^th. According to the New York Department of Housing Preservation & Development, Silverstone is in major violation. Please see below:

I have no heat or hot water in my apartment. What can I do?
By law, residential owners must provide adequate heat between October 1 and May 31. During this period, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., if the outside temperature is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, owners must heat apartments to at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., if the outside temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, owners must heat apartments to at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Owners must also provide hot water at a minimum constant temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit all year round.
Tenants whose building owners fail to provide adequate heat or hot water should first speak with the owner or building manager about the problem. If an owner does not restore heat and hot water, tenants should then call the City’s Citizen Service Center at 311, open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, to lodge a complaint (311 can be accessed outside of New York City by dialing (212) NEW YORK).
