Very unpleasant experience on this Black Friday. The Sleepy’s representatives of this Manhattan showroom displayed the worst customer service by promptly asking me as soon as I walked into the showroom on how much I wanted to spend, which I find this question to be offensive since they did not even greet me nor did they ask me what type of bedding that I would be interested in.
As I inquired about the Black Friday Sale with Carlos and William, they proceeded in showing me a line of mattresses that were lined up against the wall and appeared to be soiled and dilapidated and shockingly still overpriced.
I also did not appreciate their sarcasm in giving a poor analogy comparison to buying shoes as i questioned about the comfort of the mattress they had showed me.
This shopping experience was so upsetting.
I took my business elsewhere and got the bed set I wanted for a better price at Macy’s.

Worse customer service ever. The guy was so impolite and unprofessional. When I asked him more details about the bed, he said there is no difference by knowing those details. He was there playing his cell phone all the time knowing nothing about the mattress. When I ask about the price he asked me to check the price sheet myself. I don’t know why sleepy hire him to be there to irritate customers.

Worst possible customer service. I wish I could give 0 stars. We ordered our mattress on Monday evening and it was scheduled for Wednesday (⁵⁄₁₃) between 4−8pm. 7:15pm comes around and I get a knock on my door from the doorman. He brought up the 2 pillows we ordered. I asked where the mattress was and he said there’s no mattress, delivery people left. Call the store to find out and the woman tells us there was a ‘glitch’ in the system and they forgot the mattress. Great, so your said glitch forces my mother and I to sleep on the wood floor.
They scheduled a delivery for the following day — today (⁵⁄₁₄) — same delivery window. It is now 7:40pm and still no mattress. My husband calls the store to ask for help ‘I’ll call you back, I’m currently with a customer ’ — REALLY? Because we are a customer too, a very irate one at that…
10 minutes later…
‘Hi sir, we actually have in our records that the delivery window is from 2−10pm’.
So let me get this straight, I rearranged my whole work schedule for an inaccurate window, and on top of that the last hour of that window, your store will actually be closed. So who I am going to call when it’s 9:58 and the bed is still not here? What a great game of kick the can.
I will NEVER order from a Sleepys ever again.

Kimberly, your headquarters tried to buy my silence and they couldn’t. Just stop with the deceptive practices. There are so many 5-​star reviews from one time reviewers and this ., (please add «www»

Had an absolutely extraordinary experience at this Sleepy’s location for the reason mentioned in most other reviews– Masoom! He is the BEST.
My husband and I needed a new mattress (badly!) so we decided to swing by to see what Sleepy’s had to offer. Masoom greeted us warmly and took the effort to learn and use both of our names throughout our shopping experience. As in other reviews– the experience was so pleasant because we were not hurried or forced to make any decisions hastily– Masoom encouraged us to try, and retry different mattresses and pillows– all with a smile on his face.
We ended up purchasing a great mattress set and pillows– and I can’t wait for them to arrive! Masoom thank you so so much!

This Sleepy’s location and most specifically its associate MASOOM are THE BEST! After visiting another NYC location and feeling bullied and rushed, I took a breather and eventually came into Third Avenue Sleepy’s. Masoom gave me the exact opposite experience, made me feel comfortable like a guest in his home, and not rushed or pressured into making a purchase of such large value (my first new mattress in NINE YEARS… and first non-​fashion purchase over $ 1k). He not only was friendly, but quite knowledgeable as well — unlike the other store that rushed me through 3 mattresses and was ready to send me out the door, Masoom helped me test and understand the pro’s and cons of easily over a dozen models. Delivery and company customer service was top notch and speedy as well, delivery was efficient and CS was helpful and expedient with dealing with a product quality issue for me.
Most importantly of all… he got me an AMAZING DEAL !! It probably didn’t hurt that I made my purchase on my birthday, but i’ll just assume great service and prices apply to all of his customers ^_​_​^
That said, I plan to refer all of my friends to him and Sleepy’s 23^rd/​Third location for all their sleep needs… and everyone grab an «I (heart) my pillow» pillow — it was pricy, but the thing has changed my life :)

I had done a little research on Unilocal for a mattress store in lower Manhattan, though I hadn’t read the reviews in detail, I did chose this Sleepy’s because it had a high rating and they were having a labor day sale. We lucked out! We had a great experience and walked away with a great mattress that was delivered the next day. What made all the difference though was our salesman, Masoom, whom everyone on Unilocal had raved about (which I only realized later). He was personable, intelligent, funny, respectful, helpful, put no pressure on us, answered our questions, let us take our time as we debated over three differrent mattresses, etc. In the end, we felt as if we had a new friend. He also called the next day to make sure we had gotten the delivery and that everything was okay. Great customer service!

I can’t remember who we dealt with… «Ade», perhaps? (Alas, the invoice only gives an employee number.)
Anyhow! Whoever he was, he was not in any way pushy, nor was he reticent. He was the perfect balance between helpful and hands-​off, which I appreciated very much. We ended up buying two mattresses here that day, which was definitely a good day.
I would totally recommend that people go to this place for their bed purchases.

No problem buying a bed, but getting customer service afterwards was a NIGHTMARE. On hold with 3 different departments with a total wait time of 46MINUTES to change out a box spring. Will remember poor customer service next time I’m shopping for a bed.

Not a bad experience! Go there on a rainy day or weekday evening to avoid a crowd. Don’t be shy to try out all the beds. And most important, ask for Masoom, he’ll hook you up!

I can’t express how happy I am with my experience! The best part is Masoom. He is incredibly helpful and patient and I highly recommend seeking him out personally. He goes above and beyond and did the extra leg work to make sure that I got all the deals available to me. I got a Tempurpedic and they never do sales, but sometimes throw in extras. Masoom made sure I was covered and matched and exceeded every deal and extra I found. He worked until I was 100% happy. I will send everyone I know to him, and you should too!!!

I spent a lot of time making a decision on the bed that I bought — a few visits. The salesman, Masoom was very helpful through the whole process. He will spend time with you to figure out your needs, and listen to your concerns. I would recommend going there and working with him, because the mattress shopping experience can be very daunting!

Short: Pushiest car salesman ever.
As soon as you walk in, they greet you and try to get you into their system (so they get credit for the sale). If you’ve already visited another Sleepy’s, they’ll just tell you to go back to that location rather than offer any type of customer service (although you’re free to try any of the beds on the floor).
Unless you’re willing to purchase that minute, they won’t talk prices, discounts, promotions, availability, delivery — NOTHING. Forget them even offering any comparison between products in the store, you have to walk the floor yourself, while they sit at their desk.
When we did talk prices, they try and bundle the smallest things to make it seem like an expiring deal (free delivery and pillows today only), even though I was promised the same things AND a sizable discount on a comparable mattress ($ 400 off) at another store. Lastly, they really push for you to buy an expensive mattress ($ 2000+) and finance it through Sleepy’s. Honestly, if I couldn’t afford to buy it outright, why should I finance it again? The staff even refused to give their contact info or work schedule. Especially frustrating since I’m trying to work with you to find what I need and you’re obviously not interested, unless you can make a monster commission. You, Alan really need to go back to employee training.

A few weeks ago I needed a mattress for a new apartment. I went on-​line and read articles on what to look for in a mattress and how to spot if a salesperson is trying to take you for a ride. I went in late expecting just to poke around and get a feel for the location and people but ended up buying that night.
The salesman Todd Fischer was great. He thoroughly walked me through many options and often suggested less expensive ones that were a better fit for me as opposed to always pushing the most expensive ones. He was honest, patient, and very helpful. I’m very happy with my purchase and experience. I recommend both Todd and the location highly.

Terrible experience – overpriced with pushy, overbearing salespeople. You don’t get a price until you sit down after trying mattresses. Then they try to bundle together lots of stuff you don’t need to create the illusion of a good deal. Try the places in the Unilocal top 5 first.

Bought a mattress for the very first time in my adult life and was afraid to try out Sleepy’s but glad I did. I did research on mattresses and would go to various locations to say what each salesperson would say about each mattress. I must have changed my mind at least 6 times! Finally settled on a Beautyrest, Lucetta Plush Firm. Love it! Firm but not too firm. Have had it for two months now.
For those that are wary about lying on exposed mattresses with the masses – Sleepy’s has a sheet you can lay over. Just ask for it. Definitely ask a lot of questions to different people – I learned so much from each of them and felt I was able to make an informed decision. Also, no matter what, mattresses are always negotiable!!! Don’t be afraid to put an offer on the table. I ended up paying $ 1000 + delivery charge (if they tell you it’s free delivery, it’s prob in the price somewhere and you don’t know it). Their customer service was pretty good too – I actually placed an order for a Tempurpedic first but changed my mind a few wks later (just not for me, the sides of the mattress sinks in a lot if you sit on it which I don’t like). Called the 800 number and it was cleared right away.
Delivery came right on schedule (3 weeks later at noon, my delivery window was 12 – 4). Two guys brought it in, whipped the plastic off, and peaced out.
Masoon at this location helped me out and I liked working with him, the other older man is also nice too. I ended up going to 3 different locations in the city + 1 in LI to figure out what I wanted. Never appreciated Sleepy’s being everywhere until I needed to get a mattress! You can also put down a down payment if u want, which is refundable if you change your mind (before delivery of course).
Also word of advice: don’t clip off the tags when you get the mattress… I accidentally did, then found out later if you do the warranty no longer covers it. :(I think I’ll live though.

ASK FOR ED!!! ED YOUGH IS THE BEST OF THE BEST! He really helped me find the perrrrrfect mattress for me! I bought the queen size Simmons Phenom Plush (HIGHLY recommend, don’t get the firm it will be way too firm!) and it is sooo sooo amazing. He is honest, he keeps it real, and he will help you get the best deal! Trying to find the right mattress can be a living nightmare, ED can save you!

My salesperson Masoom was extremely helpful and honest… he provided great service and helped me get a great mattress at an excellent value. I would recommend him to other customers!

I went to this Sleepys recently and had a great experience. My salesman Richard was extremely nice and helpful and all his co-​workers were as well. They gave me an excellent deal on my mattress and I would recommend this location for anyone in search of a fairly-​priced new mattress. And no, I do not work for Sleepys!

I went to Sleepys recently to look into buying a new mattress. When I got there, at 1pm, the store was closed with a sign on the door saying that it would reopen at 1:20… Very odd. So at 1:40 the guy working there showed up and thought that my friend and I were just randomly hanging out outside of Sleepys and was surprised when we came in. He offered no apologies for being MIA. He then proceeded to be, basically, a sleazy used car salesman. Needless to say I did not buy a mattress. A waste of an afternoon!
