Sleepy’s, The Mattress Professionals

David Schwartz was a fantastic salesman, and I made sure that, whatever bed I bought, I wanted to give him the commission.
I came in to get a mattress to replace the one I’ve had for 12 years, and David helped me pick a great one. He wasn’t pushy or overbearing. He let me take my time and even looked up every temperpedic bed available in every other Sleepy’s in Manhattan, so that I could travel around and make sure I got to try each type (as their store only had two models on the floor). I went to another store to try their mattresses, and, frankly, the salesperson there had no idea what he was talking about and kept bothering us. I made sure to go back to this Sleepy’s to see David and purchase my mattress from him. David took the time to even pull out a measuring tape and calculate the height of the various mattress, box spring, and frame options (as I’m rather short and wanted to make sure the selections I made didn’t end up being too tall!). He measured everything down to the inch! He gave us a great deal and made sure we thoroughly understood all of our options, the pricing, and all of the delivery processes.
David bops around to multiple locations, and I highly recommend finding where he’s working if you’re going to go to a Sleepy’s. He’s a very knowledgeable, kind, non-​sales-​y salesperson. Would 100% recommend Sleepys, but, particularly, David Schwartz. Thanks again, David!

I thought I bought a «high end», pillow top Dr Breus mattress thru Sleepys approx 3 years ago. The sale, delivery all one would expect from the self proclaimed mattress professionals. Very good. But what I bought was complete junk! And for that reason the company is out of business. BUT… Fear not, Sleepy’s issued the warranty!!!
ISSUE:
This mattress completely caved in the center. One must sleep in the dead center in a ditch. Two people is impossible without sleeping on each other… horrible!!!
THE CATCH:
The self proclaimed mattress professionals have recently implemented a new inspection method. I very clever one. They send you a self measuring package that includes little string with weights on either end. Weight equivalent of nickel each. This piece of cardboard «THE FEATHER» With this they ask that place the cardboard on the mattress and the string across the entire bed. Now should the feather drop a few inches into this pillow top mattress they will entertain a warranty. ***they also request this from 4 different locations/​angles and 8 other photos including the support, silk label, law tag, foundation… and it goes on. My photos all added up but the one. The one where the feather is dropped into the pillow top mattress. THE IMPOSSIBLE PHOTO!
THE CONCLUSION:
What does this do? Well it saves them a ton of MONEY! They do not need to send people to your house, they don’t have to take back the faulty mattresses and there are NO EXCEPTIONS! I weigh 200lbs and have a pillow top mattress. You think this feather is going to sink 2−3inches in the mattress??? NO! But i do. CLEVER way to essentially VOID a WARRANTY!
Take your business elsewhere.

I was surprised to learn that they lie about their warrant. My mattress was 2,000 and it lasted 8 years. It then developed 2 big indentations and they told me I was hot eligible for the warranty because the mattress had a small stain on it. They will make up any excuse not to honor the warranty. And the funny thing is. they are so cheap that they sent me a kit to take all the measurements and email the pictures myself, they don’t even send somebody out
Never again!!!

I just purchased a mattress at this location and had great service from Oelmin and Laura! Oelmin made me feel very comfortable and encouraged me to try out the beds and lounge — this was my first time mattress shopping. :). He was able to assess my back problems and recommend the perfect bed for me. The two of them scored me an even better mattress when the one I tried to buy was whisked away by another store. All in all, I had a great experience and everything was super easy thanks to the friendly and experienced sales people here! Two thumbs up!

So, your old pal Rick Jeans took a little trip to the Big Apple, which is also called New York City which is in New York State. And all the sites and museums are cool if that’s your bag, but I like to see how the people live when I travel. So, I was thinking, they also call the Big Apple/​New York City the City That Never Sleeps and why is that? Then I was like, maybe it’s the mattress and pillows people are using up there and maybe they’re not posturepedic or whatever. Makes sense to Rick Jeans. So, I went to a place called Sleepy’s, which is a bedding store about helping you sleep. And whatever reason the Big Apple is also the City That Never Sleeps, it is not because of the bedding on sale at the Sleepy’s store, mark my words, my goodness. There are so many beds in their store and if you want to lie down and imagine what it would be like if that was your bed, then just go right ahead and lie down. And then you close your eyes and maybe you can take a nap for a while if no one is looking. Some of the beds are so comfortable you could take a nap even if someone was looking. So don’t blame Sleepy’s or the salesman there by the name of Toby. Sleepy’s and Toby don’t think it should be the City That Never Sleeps. They think it should be called The City That Sleeps Well Thank You.

Where do I begin. First of all take into account that there are TWO Sleepy’s across the street from one another. The one I am redering too is the one on the East Side of 57^th. I received a mattress cover that I wanted to return due to the fact that it was not what I expected. I called customer service where I was told I could make a full return at ANY Sleepy’s store. I went into this one because it was near my job. I was «greeted» by a lady whose name I did not catch. She was older, tall with short hair. I then went on to explain how I wanted to make a return. I got nothing but rudeness and an attitude. The other salesman JASON called customer service about the return and told me that there was nothing he could so about it. Now, as I was walking into the store a man abruptly left. JASON, the useless and also rude salesman told me that that man just walked away from buying a $ 1200 mattress for whatever reason which is why the female salesperson was giving me attitude. What does that have to do with ME??? After he called customer service and supposedly they told him I can only get store credit. BS!!! Nowhere on that receipt did it say the item could not be returned not did it say FINAL sale. I just received that package today it hasn’t even been opened! He was so rude and unprofessional! After he «spoke» to customer service he processed to play on his iPhone.
Fast forward to 30 minutes later. I went to another Sleepy’s on 57^th and 6^th ave and spoke to LIZ TORRENS. She was AMAZING! She took care if the problem immediately!!! She looked up my account and saw that the asshole at the other store have me a STORE CREDIT!!! I did NOT ask for this nor did he tell me he did that!!! Liz went in to call the corporate office and have me a full refund. Do NOT go to the Sleepys’s on 57^th and 3^rd avenue. NEITHER OF THEM!!! Go to 57^th and 6^th and talk to LIZ TORRENS!!!

Yesterday in my lunch break I went to sleepys on 57^th because it was closest to my office. My friend and I were greeted by Joe who was friendly and left us to browse. When we asked for help he gave unbiased answers and was very knowledgable. I found a mattress I really liked and turned out to be on sale (yes a real sale! — I checked). I came back to my desk and checked the reviews (they were favourable) and pricing (sleepys were competitive) at all the other major mattress retailers. Not only were they amongst the cheapest they were able to offer delivery the next day. I paid for it that evening and it was delivered to my apartment at 10.30 am today. What a wonderful customer experience. Now for the real test — sleep!

Todd is the man. Everything you would want in a salesperson. Answered all of our questions, and was patient as we tried just about every mattress in the store. He was able to give us a great deal as well and we left very happy.

This sleepy’s location is a little depressing as far as interior décor goes but the staff is nice. Though the bed frames are slightly on the expensive side, Chuck, the sales person was very helpful and knew his stuff. Overall a good spot for bedding needs.

The service was great at the store, but they missed the mark as far as deliveries. They give you a four hour window that ends up being a six hour window. It happen two times and each time I got a call from the dispatcher saying they are” running late, sorry”. Talk about double booking. So just have your to do list ready while you wait on them to show up. Oh and you know they didn’t get a tip from me neither time .

My husband and I just moved to New York and needed a new bed. We went to Sleepy’s and had a great experience in the store. Tested out a bunch of beds and then decided on one that was perfect for us. Our salesman Jacques was great IN the store WHILE we were purchasing. The whole in store experience was like 30 minutes. Not bad and we were happy.
Then tonight came which was the delivery of the bed. Everything was fine except we only had one pillow. That’s not right. We ordered two. We were very clear and Jacques was very clear about all the items we had ordered. Sure enough, check the invoice and it’s not there! I should have known better. Jacques had already made an error on the invoice and had a twin bed on there instead of queen but he fixed it in the store. He assured us it was corrected and wasn’t able to print out a new one when we were in the store because the printer was acting up. So i figured I would just call aboit this error and he would give us the pillow for free. Wrong. He gives me major attitude and says, sorry not in invoice so I can’t give you for free. Come on! I just spent $ 1800 and you can’t give me a PILLOW??? We argue about this for a while all the time he is not appoligizing about the mistake only that I cannot get something for free. My bottom line is that we were very clear about what we wanted and not only do we not get what we want but not you have created an errand for us. Finally he tells me I can get it for free but it will come out of his paycheck. Ok then I say. I didn’t think it was right that he was guilting me into paying $ 25 for the pillow. The whole thing was just ridiculous and so unnesseary. Seriously, $ 25 for a bad taste in my mouth about the whole company? Not smart. But I guess I won’t be buying another mattress for a while so who cares?

I recently ordered a king mattress plus bed and a host of other stuff from this store. The salesman as well as the delivery staff assured me that the mattress would be installed and while the bed was back ordered, it would be temporarily put on rails. I had repeatedly called and told the salesman as well as the despatch staff that I may not be in the apartment at the time of delivery and was assured of the bed being assembled.
Unfortunately, it didnt turn out to be so. The driver of the delivery truck calls me 20 min prior to his arrival and asks me vague questions about how to access the building’s service elevator etc. It doesnt help that I am barely able to understand his English! Then he just puts the phone down and I dont hear from him. I then reach my apartment the following day, finding, to my horror, the mattress, box springs and the rails all stacked up in my drawing room! When i call the store, a gentleman there does not even allow me to complete my story and insisted that I was never set up for installation, when I had the delivery slip right in front of me with the clear instructions for setting up the bed! Then he changes his story to something like «drivers will not stay in the apartment if doormen dont escort». I called his bluff again by pointing out that another dealer had successfully delivered and assembled a new TV on the same day as the mattress was delivered, with no one at home!
I am very frustrated as I had specifically searched for Sleepys in. Manhattan and decided on them to furnish my bedroom!
Sleepys tried to correct the problem by trying to send back the driver today, but he called again only late evening and I juist refused to have him over! Too bad, one always doesnt get a second chance!

A year ago, a very sweet man named Jacques sold me the most amazing mattress (and mattress protector) here for a great deal. Jacques even directed me toward a higher value choice with ergonomic technology that was the same price as the lower-​value alternative I was looking at. I even got the chance to lie on my future mattress for quite a while as I was waiting for Jacques to finish up a sale with the couple who came in before me.
I’ve slept on a number of premium hotel mattresses while traveling for my consulting job and nothing even comes close to the one I own. This mattress was so sweet that my roommate walked into a Sleepy’s and requested the exact same thing – and Sleepy’s was able to match the deal for her. Sleepy’s, Jacques, I don’t care about 1−800-MATTRESS: YOU rock!
