Woah is this place intense! I love a good workout, and never feel satisfied after Pilates. However this place is Pilates on steroids! It is fast-paced, engaging, hands-on, and plays music that gets you moving! I was sore for a few days after, which makes me incredibly happy. Love it when I can barely zip up my coat, and walk home haha. They have great deals: $ 20 for first class, and then 3 classes for $ 100 so I recommend taking advantage of them all! I’ve now taken three classes, and I must say I am hooked!

SLT is fun! A very different kind of workout class, would do this regularly if I had the cashes… Your first class is $ 20! Take advantage of this if you want to try it for the first time! The studio is well maintained and the instructors are engaging. Try going at less popular hours(late weekend nights) for more 1:1 attention on how to do the moves. You WILL need some base level of fitness and flexibility. I went with a group of new students and we all had some dance/pilates/martial arts background and were able to follow along at the All Levels class.

Being my first time at SLT I must say I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to go back! The studio is simple, clean and bright! Coming from doing Pilates Reformer classes I thought that I would have this down with no problem, but the challenge was definitely there and it was amazing! Amanda was a terrific instructor, super sweet and amazing with direction! The class has great music going the entire time and each set of workouts went by quick. 50 minutes went by in a flash but as soon as I walked out, you really feel what a great workout you just had. I can’t wait to get back and continue learning the positions and workouts!

Clean and bright! It literally Palite on crack! No kidding! Awesome workout. In 50 mins I sweat more than an hour of gym by myself. I would really suggest booking your first class at a location that offers Beginner class. Today was my first class I picked the location more than class level. The one I went to is an all level class. Good thing I’m not a new gym goer. It is abit fast. And I have done Palite in the past so I’m familiar with some of the workout. The mega machine is a bit hard to use(usually the long cable due to my height) but I did enjoin the workout and will be returning !! You will definitely get a lean but strong body for sure. It’s actually more of your own body weight than anything else. Like any kind of classes and work out first 7 – 10 class is my adjustment time so don’t worry if you don’t follow the class. I made so much stops it’s abit embarrassing but you are going for yourself so who cares! Staffs are very nice and instructor took times to show me the equipment and run through what we will be doing at the beginning of class.

the workout — the best, really. the megaformer is super super hard and not for the out-of-shape or faint of heart. i’d recommend this place for someone who’s a frequent exercise-class-taker and is sick of barre + pilates and looking for something new. it is amazing for toning and will leave you with a rock hard core for at least a week. seriously… this is THEEEE ab workout. however, i wouldn’t really recommend this to someone new to the NYC exercise-class-scene since you DEFF need a solid amount of experience w general exercise to be able to catch on. the location — eh. the music is good and the studio is nice, but it’s not that nice. the location isn’t exactly chic, peaceful, or trendy… it’s in the heart of midtown and super loud/not the most pleasant. also, there are no showers and v few amenities. if youre going know that youre going for the megaformer and the redic workout youre gonna get. those machines are EXPENSIVE and do justify the prices SLT charges. regardless, though, don’t go expecting a friendly spa experience. the customer service — ok in my experience it’s been very good. the people are always nice to me and when it was my first time they were helpful and supportive, yet continued to push me. however, i also workout a ton and love lululemon. i think that the customer service will be to your liking if youre a certain type of person, ya feel? if you read SLT’s website, watch their promo video, or read the reviews on this page, the place looks like a bunch of stuck-up douches. part of me hates myself for continuing to go there because of this. whateva whateva.

I’ve taken megaformer classes at about 30 different studios around the country. I love the workout and find that different studios all operate a bit differently. I’d been to SLT a few months ago and was appalled by the volume of the music – it actually physically hurt my ears I am happy to report that it is now at a reasonable level. Previously, it was so loud that it was a disservice to both the teacher and students, as you couldn’t hear their shouting(with headset) over the music. From what I understand, the SLT studios across the board now have a volume limit. I had 3 different teachers over the course of a week and would return to them all. The only drawback to this studio is the very expensive cost($ 40 per class. Even a package of 5 is still $ 36 per class, quite a bit more than other megaformer studios(yes, I know NYC is pricey overall). For the price, they could have a water station to fill up your bottle, rather then charging for bottled water. Also, there are 2 bathrooms, but no showers or lockers or proper changing rooms. They do have many classes throughout the day so the convenience factor is high!

I was able to take an intro class last week. I can honestly say that I would have been completely lost if I had just walked in to a regular class. The megaformer is complicated and SLT is challenging. Very challenging. It is a point of pride for them that THISISHARD and not for everyone. Prepare yourself. Go to their website, watch the cringe-worthy video. They are upfront and honest about being bitchy fitness snobs. Know what you’re getting into. SLT is for super-fit people, but I expect even the super-fit will be a bit lost at first. Even though I couldn’t do all the exercises, I did get a great workout in all the right places. It was really fun to try. I would go back.

My very fit friend invited me to try this studio(at the old location) since she knows I enjoy Pilates, yoga and any variation of Barre classes. After rushing to change in the ONE bathroom they had with people waiting for it, I gave it a try… Within 5 minutes I couldn’t follow the very complicated routine on the machine and after 10 minutes I packed up my stuff and walked out the door in the verge of tears. It was so frustrating and upsetting. I have NEVER walked out of a class before especially after paying $ 20 for it. The person at the front said no refund so contact the manager and gave me an email address. After 2 emails stating my experience and desire to never return, the studio sent me this email: Again we’re so sorry to hear about your negative SLT experience. Unfortunately we do not offer refunds, as per our company policy, however, you’re more than welcome to gift your credit to a friend. Also, as Erica mentioned in her previous email, we would definitely encourage you to try one of our Introductory classes as an alternative to the regular Megaformer classes. How insulting to suggest I gift it to my friend! !?! My friend felt horrible sending me there and she will never go back either! Some nerve. All I can say is be sure you are advanced on the reformer, have some serious core and leg strength and be careful of the teacher you get. This one didn’t care if I broke neck on the machine he went full speed ahead and let me struggle!
