S’Mac Closed by Health Department : EASTVILLAGE — The East Village mecca to mac and cheese, S’MAC, has been shut by health inspectors. Evidence of mice and dirty wiping cloths were found at the restaurant’s East 12th Street location, between First and Second avenues

I love this place, I see ehhh reviews and I cant even believe it. I’ve been here several times and I’m a fan of almost all the variations on the classic mac n’ cheese. I recommend the Buffalo Chicken mac n’ cheese. Chicken, cheddar cheese and buffalo sauce makes for the perfect lunch… What’s that you say? Would I like you to top it off with crumbled blue cheese? Yes please !

Food is one of the many joys in life as well as an important sustaining factor. Every night, I look forward to waking up and eating the next day. So, when I purchase food that puts a smile on my face that I can’t control, it really is something special. Being gluten-free, a lot of replacement products for pasta can be iffy, but the noodles here were spectacular. It wasn’t just the noodles though, the whole dish was reminiscent of ambrosia. The blend of cheeses and the GF bread crumbs really made the deal. It was a little expensive for the amount that I got, but it was entirely worth it. If you are gluten-free and you are in Manhattan, you need to go here.

This is the first time I ordered from this company. I read so many great reviews about this restaurant I was dying to try it. Also, I passed by this restaurant in the park numerous times while on my way to shop at Whole foods. I was dying to try their food. I ordered the gluten free low lactose American Nosh, the gluten free low lactose buffalo chicken Nosh and the green salad with honey mustard dressing. The food was delivered promptly. the green salad with honey mustard dressing was quite good. However, the gluten free low lactose American nosh and the gluten free buffalo chicken Nosh were delivered in spoiled conditions. The cheese sauce had already spoiled and the gluten free pastas were half-cooked and hard. I do not believe the low lactose cheese sauce was made fresh daily or kept at the proper temperatures to prevent spoiling. I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. If they want to cater to people who eat gluten free low lactose foods then they have to cook the food order fresh and keep it at the proper temperatures. The food was rotten and half-cooked. I am extremely saddened by this experience. Any restaurant that delivers food in spoiled rotten condition is not a restaurant worth recommending. I expected better from this restaurant chain.

I’m a firm believer that Mac N’ Cheese should ALWAYS be baked. and S’MAC caters to both vegans and people that are gluten-free!

The buffalo chicken – hands down winner. Perfectly seasoned chicken with well blended blue cheese. Make sure you save your appetite all day because it is more cheese than u can imagine.

Got the masala mac ‘n cheese with bread crumbs on top, it was good but I could also feel my arteries clogging after each bite. ALOT of cheesiness, but what else would you expect from a mac ‘n cheese place? It has very unique flavors of mac ‘n cheese, but due to how unhealthy I felt after eating it I wouldn’t recommend it. Large portions(even the small was too much), a bit hard to find(it’s right next to the subway station, it’s IN the park — which has a little stank to it)

Only in NY will you find a place that specializes in mac ‘n cheese. I came upon S’mac by chance while exploring the east village. I had the 4 cheese — muenster, cheddar, gruyère, and pecorino. The crust mixed with the creamy cheese macaroni heaven sent me into a frantic tasting and eating frenzy at the restaurant and in my bed loft.

Mac ‘n cheese for breakfast? Yup, I’m doing it! I picked up a nosh-sized All American this morning and lugged it to DUMBO three stops away. It didn’t survive the trip very well; the food stayed intact, but that was mostly due to the fact that the cheese on top formed a semi-hardened layer. I guess that’s what cheese does, but it wasn’t very appetizing :(Also, as I ate it, some bites carried a faint aftertaste of rubber. Cheddar isn’t supposed to taste like that… right? The noodles/elbows were more wet than creamy. And there was a greasy sheen left on the bottom of the dish, as if to remind me exactly what I was eating. Ugh… Ultimately, S’MAC doesn’t even come close to my favorite mac ‘n cheese, the Wisconsin style from Noodles and Co.

I swear this place is right under your nose, It took my friends and I forever to find this place because it was int he park! DONTMAKETHISMISTAKE… the address said 31st cross street first, we walked back and forth across the street until we realized it was in the park… LOOKEDLIKESTRAIGHTUPTORREST haha Cajun MAC — Very tasteful and cheesy, maybe a little too cheesy, but if you like cheese, hey why not. The other down fall was it was very oily. I know its not supposed to be «healthy» but it was just a little too much oil and cheese for me. They were generous with the meet and integrated everything well with the spices. Price is ok… yet whats cheep in NYC… expect around $ 7 – 8 for a small dish. The smallest size should be enough! its pretty filing!

For some reason I prefer going to the«real» SMAC a few blocks north, but this one is closer(for me) and just as good. They serve all the wondrously strange mac and cheese variants they have at their real store, everything from buffalo chicken to cajun. All major credit cards accepted. Closes when the park closes, unfortunately. When I went, they ended up kicking us out right after we sat down with our piping hot food… but by the time I got it home it was cool enough I could actually eat it!

First time I ate Mac and cheese was here. I first tried the one in 12st and now I do take out here. My favorite is the pizza one but it is also the only one I’ve ever tried. Want to try other Macs soon though, maybe make my own because it gives you the option to

The nosh size is plenty for one person(dinner or lunch) even though it’s the smallest size. There are so many unique flavors on the menu, you’ll find it hard to choose what to eat. I picked the Mediterranean, which was divine with big servings of goat cheese. My friend had the Napoletana, which she really enjoyed. I really liked the tomato flavor in the Napoletana. This place is a steal for dinner or lunch at $ 8 or less for a nosh plate. Plenty of table space outside for everyone too!

Cheap gourmet Mac n cheese served up fast and fresh from a food stand? Yes please. I got the Parisienne and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. The Brie and figs were very tasty and coupled with the breadcrumb crusty topping, this dish was wolfed down in record time. I can’t wait to try more flavors! I had to remove a star because the server was very aloof/unwelcoming. Not that big of deal for a food stand since I obviously took it to go, but I really do value friendly service and S’mac fell short in this category. PS– the nosh size is more than enough(definitely meal size rather than snack size)!

It is a nice warm summer day in a small urban park, why not get some Mac n’ cheese. I think the term Mac n’ cheese does not do this dish justice with it’s blue collar connotations. I Italian food has many variations and they give it names like Alfredo and a la vodka to sound fancy. At this small smac you can pick from a large number of flavor combinations and 3 sizes, However anything bigger than the nosh is just pure gluttony. Inside a pizza like box you will find a nicely melted and caramelized cheese crust on top, below that a creamy cheese medially of pasta cream. your choice of add ins(basil and tomato in this case) and cheese. The neopolotian tasted a lot like a pizza. Overall the it was quite good where the top crust was the star of the dish in my mind.

Writing this review as I sit at one of the tables sitting under the night lights enjoying a delicious bowl of Mac and cheese. 1) the«Nosh» Size is good for two(not so hungry) people 2) the crumble on top, super delicious and crunch 3) the mac and cheese is really really creamy 4) loved the outdoor park setting, felt like i was eating in my backyard(if i had one) 5) spent less than 8 bucks! 6) had the four cheese and it was perfect, can’t wait to eat my way through the menu! would definitely stop here when i’m in the are or bring people here love it! happy there wasn’t a humongous line(wish it could stay that way!)

S’MAC recently opened this little kiosk inside First Park(corner of First Ave and Houston). What I love about this tiny stand is its convenient proximity to many East Village bars that don’t serve food. It’s so easy to hop on over and grab a quick bite in between rounds. They have a few tables, but the mac and and cheese is packaged to go, so you also have the option of taking it back to the bar with you. The nosh size is perfect for stabilizing your drinking momentum, and the prices are reasonable(around $ 8, give or take depending on which variety of mac and cheese you choose — and surprisingly, they offer the full S’MAC menu). Check it out the next time you find yourself drinking on an empty stomach in the East Village.

My first reaction? Why didn’t I think of this!?! It’s genius and I love bringing out of town guests here. Unless you have a ginormous appetite — a nosh is plenty. I even shared one with a friend and felt satisfied. The 4 cheese and cheeseburger varieties are fantastic(and blow hamburger helper out of the water). I love that they’re served in cast iron skillets(at the other location though). Boyfriend ordered the cajun one and loved it but it’s spicy for those(like me) who have a weak tolerance for spicy. It’s reasonably priced for the amount you get and for an additional cost you can get bread crumbs to top off the gooey goodness you’re about to enjoy.

S’MAC? Is more like smack me. YUMM!!! I get off the F train and I see this small Kiosk in the park called S’Mac. Huh? Wait a second, all they serve is Mac and Cheese? And the S stands for Sarita? Sarita, I love you. I quickly order the Parisienne: This is straight from their website: Mac-n-Cheese for the«upper crust». Creamy Brie, roasted figs, roasted shiitake mushrooms & fresh rosemary. It’s addictive! Addictive? Sarita, I want to give you my 2011 tax return! What I ordered was sooo good and flavorful. They asked if I wanted bread crumbs? Yes! Sarita, I need you to open a place in midtown and I’ll be a forever faithful follower.
