I didn’t even notice it was there until my friend had ordered the 10 layer Sandwhich from Cemitas El Tigre. I think the idea is great, however I was underwhelmed and I couldn’t help but associate it to the Smorgasburg Food Truck Festival that happens in Brooklyn on the weekends. Compared to that, this is nothing. I wouldn’t travel all the way downtown for the food, but if I were in the neighborhood I might get something.

Cool concept but the food could be better. I tried the Lumpia Shack and the Lumpia was ok. The chicken vermicelli I hope it was chicken and not pork, the noodles were cold. It cost me 30.00 including tip and two bottles of water. I get it you get to eat outside by the water but I would have settles for. NY hot dog and water for 2 – 4 bucks. I wasted the food and didn’t eat it. The ramen burger looked better then it tastes. It’s plain minus the soy/teriyaki sauce. I was disappointed with the food and the time it took us to find parking.

I go to this bar on a regular basis when we do our nightly bike route around NYC. It is a great place to stop and order a quick beer and they have some nice other drink selections. It is always good people watching. Depending on the season can be touristy.

What a great place to enjoy the weather and eat! Had the lobster roll it was juicy and fresh! If you haven’t made it down you definitely need too!

I was not too impressed by my visit to Smorgasburg at South Street Seaport. I had not been to the Seaport in years so once I stumbled upon a sign while in the area, I became really excited. I’m giving 3 stars because Smorgasburg is mainly about the food. The sandwich I had from Cemitas was in fact very filling and flavorful for $ 10 which I was able to split with a friend. Though this location is open 7 days a week, there were no more than about 8 booths there in total. The main issue I had with this location is that I expected more of an experience, since the South Street Seaport is know for just that. Keep in mind there is currently a great amount of construction going on in the area… so don’t expect to see the water like I did! I still remain a fan of Smorgasburg as a whole because I definitely enjoyed my visit to the Queens location just a few weeks ago. I just will NOT be returning to this location for a while.

It is a nice gathering place to bring people who are new to the city and since the port is closed for renovation. However I find it to be easier to just pick a restaurant, since the lines are ridiculous, the price is a little steep for small amount of food, and if you have friends that need to sit to eat… forget about. DONOTPASSGOANDDONOTCOLLECTED $ 200ANDFIND A RESTAURANTTOSIT. Personally, I prefer the one in Brooklyn, much more variety, but I can understand why it is setup here. Great tourist attraction and a nice view of the port’s surrounding.

I like the whole concept of this place! I love the location. It’s a perfect summer spot for those who want to enjoy the seaport or a happy hour spot for those who work close by in FiDi. I’ve tried the hot buttery lobster roll and the ramen burger, both of which are very tasty(but perhaps not too great if you’re trying to get that summer body). I wished there were more vendors for sweets(ice cream, yogurt, etc.). Also, although this place stays open late during the summers, a lot of vendors tend to run out of food before 8, so time your visit properly.

I tried the ham & grilled cheese sandwich from Milk Truck. It was surprisingly really good. Took a while for food to come out as there was a line, but I was impressed. I really enjoyed the setting at the seaport. Also a bit pricey for a grilled sandwich, but I am glad I tried it, as it was delicious. Definitely go for a sandwich with an additional topping, the Ham and mustard additions were a winner.

When you post that you’re open til 9pm on Sundays, don’t tell me at 8:20pm that you’re all closed bc the wifi goes down at 8. That’s just poor on all accounts. This isn’t your first week open, please get your act together.

Cool outdoor spot with decent options. This is a smaller version of the Smorgasburg in BK. The ramen noodle burger continues to be my favorite. Lines can get quite long!

Pretty much the most amazing place on Earth, we went down on a perfect day to hang out with friends to eat and drink Sunday away. The food stands are legit, we got oysters, the OG ramen burger, a lobster BLT from Red Hook Lobster Pound. We found a table and sat and ate and then ate some more, this little outpost of Smorgasburg is awesome and I hope that it stays somewhat chill but I doubt it since everyone and their mother is coming down to Financial now. Glad to see that people are starting to stop dogging on South St Seaport, love everything about this place will be back.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this place is amazing! Perhaps that’s because I’ve never been to any of the other Smorgasburg spots around NY, but this was great. So many unique foods to try in such a historical district, it was a phenomenal experience. For food we tried the cemitas, pepperoni pizza from Pizza Moto and the Ramen Burger(which is actually how I found out about this spot because I was so excited stuff my face with one). The cemitas was awesome and sadly I don’t even know what exactly was on it but it was delicious. Basically chicken, cheese, tomato, guac, etc on a bun(?) and it was heaven. The pizza is brick oven style and did not upset. I did some research and Pizza Moto apparently has been a mobile pizza joint making pizzas in a portable brick oven for the past 7 years. I think I need to invest in one of those. The pizza had a crispy thin crust with gooey cheese, splashes of fresh sauce and spicy pepperoni — yum! Finally, the Ramen Burger. Not gonna lie, I almost had a mini heart attack/cried when I saw all of the wonderful Ramen Burger chefs cooking up a storm only to see a sign that said«Not Open For Business» on their sign. Apparently they have a deal with Über for lunch time where patrons can order Ramen Burger directly through Über and get it delivered, which is why none of these magical burgers were in my belly at 11am when we got there. Luckily we got to try one around 1:30, so if up you’re coming here just for the burger you’ve been warned. As for the burger… It was like a party in my mouth. The burger was seasoned with what tasted like some sort of Asian BBQ soy sauce. There were also scallions, cheese and bacon on the burger. I was kind of disappointed because the ramen«bun» was soggy, but honestly who in their right mind cares about that when they’re eating a beautiful patty of beef on the worlds most versatile noodle? Not me that’s for sure. This place also has a bar and picnic table areas. Not every food shop was open when I was here so looking up on the vendor websites ahead of time will do some good if you’re coming for a certain place.

I didn’t know this actually existed! How awesome! Plenty of different food stands from Texas BBQ to lobster rolls to the famous Ramen Burger. And plenty of seats even at prime dinner time on a Saturday! My friend and I didn’t have an issue finding seating on a beautiful night. I definitely enjoyed my time here and cannot wait to go back. Met some interesting tourists and got some great alcohol while soaking up the nice weather. Perfection.

After Hurricane Sandy, the South Street Seaport needed love.(They still do!) SmorgasBar is here to help, and they sure draw a crowd, earning an «A» for effort in my book. SmorgasBar’s smattering of eateries isn’t as diverse as older brother SmorgasBurg, but there are options, from pizza to oysters, to Asian sandwiches. Unfortunately, unless you’re Mr. Monopoly, you can’t afford to make SmorgasBar a regular haunt — more like once and done. Overpriced food is bad enough, but overpriced booze[1]? That’s a sin. But we should know that walking into the Financial District, right? Stop by and check out the other Seaport attractions. Support your communities! [1] During one stop at SmorgasBar I had the luck to meet a kickass bartender who administered mean pours. I’d mention her more specifically, but she’d probably get in trouble.

Four stars because it’s great that the Smorgasburg folks are part of the reactivation of South Street Seaport. It’s such a shame that the area was totally annihilated by Hurricane Sandy — all these historical buildings’ underground electrical systems were destroyed by flooding, and continue to be unusable even while the rest of the city has been recovering steadily. Smorgasbar is set up on cobblestoned Front Street, just off the main Fulton road. There are only a handful of vendors here: Red Hook Lobster Pound, Asia Dog, Blue Marble, Landhaus, Brooklyn Oyster Party, Fonda, Pizza Moto, Milk Truck Grilled Cheese, Rice & Miso Everyday… I hope the vendor mix rotates, because it doesn’t seem to have changed since they launched. Landhaus’ pork chop sandwich was pretty good, very messy, and strangely the pork chop was bone-in. Huh. The maple bacon stick was all kinds of delicious. I’m not excited that the above cost $ 13 though. Asia Dog’s Korean BBQ burger($ 7) is VERY tiny, with a bulgogi meat patty, which doesn’t work as well as you’d hope. Smorgasburg in Brooklyn thrives because most people go with the intent of trying multiple things; few of the offerings are large enough to be a full meal. Smorgasbar, on the other hand, needs to cater more to the Financial District lunch crowd — people who are looking for something filling. It’s a bit more everyday(literally, 10am-10pm), so the portions and price points would benefit from adjustment. Still, on a nice day there’s plenty of cafeteria-style seating under umbrellas, especially during the early evening when things are quieter. Grab a beer or horchata at least and enjoy the summer breeze. Also, not that you have a shortage of options in NYC, but if you’re a fan of outdoor films — check out the movie lineup this summer! The See/Change program(which includes Smorgasbar) offers free movies at sundown this July and August — see the schedule here: . The seating on an astroturf platform is limited(only a few lounge chairs), but it is comfy, and I’m sure they wouldn’t object to someone carrying over some goodies from Smorgasbar to munch on.

Many of the restaurants and eateries still remain closed at the seaport post Hurricane Sandy. SmorgasBar allows for the revitalization of business and tourism in the area by providing a sampling of some great eats of famous Manhattan/BK businesses — the mini SmorgasBurg basically. For a limited time through the summer, they will be parked in the middle of South Street Seaport. This is a great opportunity for tourists/NY’ers alike to try out some great eats. Cash only and limited seating available. There are only a few businesses available at SmorgasBar, but all offer something a little different. My particular top choices are AsiaDog, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Landhaus. If anything, I highly recommend these 3 businesses if feeling uncertain. AsiaDog — Offers an Asian twist on the traditional hot dog. Their hot dogs come with a variety of different toppings, and all are very delicious. My favorite is the WangDing. Red Hook Lobster Pound — Lobster rolls here are legit. You can’t go wrong with either the Maine or Connecticut style. If you haven’t had one of these, you’re missing out. Landhaus — Their cheeseburger is actually really good. The ground beef is very juicy and high-grade. Please also get the pork belly on the stick; it’s so good, and of course it’s worth the $ 3($ 8 for 3) All in all, great little food market to stop by if you are hungry and happen to be touring the seaport. *Just a little tip, while the SmorgasBar is still there, I’d skip the Pacific Grill down by the water. The food is honestly better here. They do have some alcoholic beverages available, but they have better drinks at Pacific Grill. So, drinks at Pacific Grill, then head on over to SmorgasBar for the food.

I came upon this little strip on my lunch break today. I haven’t eaten here yet but boy oh boy was I excited! Red Hook Lobster Pound, Asia Dog, Blue Marble, Brooklyn Oyster, Pizza Moto, Milk Truck, Rice and Miso, Landhaus, and my personal fav Fonda! Holy moly. Also anything that connotates to the Swedes makes me happy! I am definitely coming back here next week with a pal. There are picnic tables all along the alleyway. Only complaint I guess would be prices. The beer was $ 6 and water $ 1. But its the financial district. Everything here is expensive. More importantly, this is an effort to help restore the Seaport from Sandy. So go support! ** I finally went back to Sample their food today. Really quite delicious. Of course I went to Fonda because its one of my favorite restaurants! And I wanted something not entirely incredibly unhealthy. 3 Charritos(Pork) Tacos for $ 9. Not bad considering how expensive the restaurant’s appetizers are to begin with. The pork was delicious. Not piping hot as I would have wanted but it was prepared with a black bean paste, fresh cilantro, radish, and greens with a wedge of lime. We wanted more lime and a margarita to wash it down with. But I was very very content for a quick office lunch.

I know this is just a little version of the much grander Smorgasburg, but still, the small number of vendors they do have are pretty weak. I guess you might like it a lot more than me though if you aren’t allergic to shellfish and are one of those that love Red Hook Lobster Pound, which has a stand here. I kinda wanted to try some of the sandwiches from Landhaus, but all they had were those bacon sticks and a cheeseburger. I finally tried Asia Dog, which was pretty underwhelming. I got The Sidney($ 5), which was decent, but nothing special. The other options, like Rice & Miso Everyday and Pizza Moto are also not my favorites. I was hoping for a couple more options with some sandwiches and way more sweets(all I saw was Blue Marble Ice Cream). The space itself is nice though, with plenty of seating and a large, open area. I will probably stick to the somewhat close by Hester Steeet Fair instead on Saturdays(the major thing they have going for them here is that they are open seven days a week until 10 or 11, which is pretty cool).
