Never been here for the restaurant or concert aspect. but I been here plenty of times for the club aspect and it is pretty good. the DJ is always on point & I never seen anything as far as fighting or anything stupid. the bartenders & security as always on point

Came here for a Caribbean party/concert and had a great time. While there were some performance blips, I can’t lay blame on the establishment, so in my opinion SOB’s is a solid 3.5 stars. The space isn’t as large as I thought it would be, however the layout creates a nice intimate setting, especially for performances where there isn’t a bad spot in the house. They did a great job in creating and blending the dining and dancing areas. We didn’t have a reservation, but was able to get a table within the hour. While our meal wasn’t anything to write home about, it was enjoyable and service was on point(gratuity included). THENEGATIVES: — Very expensive. On top of the admission fee you pay for a party/concert, you can run a pretty hefty tab on food and drinks($ 14 for ciroc coctail, $ 8 for one cuban corn split in 2. $ 13 for chips, salsa and guac.) — At the bar, credit cards are only accepted for transactions greater than $ 30 — in which gratuity will be automatically added(18%). There’s just something about these forced gratuities that rub me the wrong way, especially when good service isn’t even guaranteed. Luckily our bartender was very nice, with a good pour. — Small bathroom with 2 stalls.

Came here on a Friday night through a living social deal which was 2 drinks(sangria), 2 appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts. This place is more like a restaurant/small live music venue. It has a bar area, stage, small dancing floor, and tables in either side. There’s apparently a cover charge to come in and listen to their live band(ours was included in the living social so I don’t know the cost). There’s also a $ 25 minimum to sit at one of their tables. If you have a living social deal they give you a special menu with just a couple items as options. We had the empanadas and salad as our appetizer. Skip the salad and go for the empanadas. You get one cheese and one beef and even though they’re small they’re tasty. For my entrée I got the fish in banana leaves. This was very tasty and it came with sweet potatoes and cole slaw(could have skipped the cole slaw). My bf got their steak, rice, and fried egg dish, this was just ok. It lacked flavor all around and it came out a bit overcooked. The band that was playing was a salsa band and they were good, they started playing around 8:30. My only complaint was they played 4 songs and then took a really long brake, not sure how long because we got tired of waiting and left. Overall my experience was just ok. Don’t think I’d be back. You can get better food elsewhere. If you want to listen to live music I’d check them out. It’s an older crowd at least on salsa night.

Had an amazing time with my husband for our 25th anniversary. «Noël» our waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive. The white sangria was ridiculously good. Salsa lessons and super fun. Live entertainment on point!!!

Went here a few weeks ago for the first time in years. This place is still and always has been a great venue to see shows. The amount of different artists and bands Ive seen here is insane. I wouldnt know where to start. Overall a great vibe.

Been here twice. The first time was back in 1996. The second time was April 9, 2016. Both times, I had a blast! The band was great and the food was pretty good. If you do plan to have dinner here for two or four, I’d check Groupon first. They may still have the 65% discount offers like this one – .

Fun! Fun! Fun… that is what I have everytime I go to SOB’S! The venue is small enough to give me a cozy feeling whenever I watch any bands or musicians perform. Most of the place is standing room woth a few takes for dining and enjoying drinks. However, the setting has an appropriate size stage placed in the middle of the venue so that I was able to see the performances well regardless of where I was standing. Located in Manhattan, SOB’S provides a lively atmosphere each time I am there which makes for a cool place to hang out!

**This review strictly for Caribbean Night** I came here last Saturday(03⁄19) and had a good time. We got there at around 11:30 p.m. and there was a decent line and it moves very slowly – I’m glad I decided to wear a lower heel shoe. The atmosphere was nice and the crowd was mature and diverse – I really appreciated that. I don’t know how much it costed for alcohol – I had two coronas and I didn’t pay for them. The music selections were great. The DJs play a nice mix of soca and reggae with a little hip hop. I paid $ 20.00 cover and $ 3.00 to check my coat. The men actually behaved like men. They actually ask you if you want to dance rather than just«wukking up pon you.» One guy asked where I lived and when I said Maryland, he said, «Oh, I have family there.» I swear, you could say that you’re visiting from Timbuktu and a guy would say, «oh, I also have family from Timbuktu… can I have your number?» All in all, I had a good time and I’m looking forward to trying out their brunch and well as their salsa night the next time I’m in town.

Wait yes! This place is awesome, but I think it may be the food that has people rating it less than 4 stars. Came here last week for dinner and samba, and it was the bomb dot com. We purchased the groupon for two which gives you a three course meal, a glass of sangria and dancing for $ 65. Which we thought was a great deal. The sangria was yummy and the bartender didn’t go light on the alcohol because it was«included», which is nice. We both started with the beef and cheese empanadas which were flavorful. For the entrée, I had the crispy chicken breast with poblano mashed potatoes and my bf had the bistek ipanema. I REALLY enjoyed the chicken, it was flavorful and filling. And the bistek with rice was delicious too. The rice was so flavorful, it could stand on its own if needed. The only option for dessert was flan, which unfortunately, I’m not a fan of. So I paid $ 2 extra to swap it for the volcanic lava cake. But there was NOTHING volcanic about it. It was dry to the point were it was even borderline burnt. But I will let that slide cause everything else was phenomenal. The dancing was great! Seemed like there were many professionals on the dance floor which was a bit intimidating to try to keep up. But after some more sangria, we were all on the floor! It was a great evening, would definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I purchased a Groupon to eat here. The food was great! Our appetizer was the Brazilian empanadas which were fantastic. My boyfriend had the salmon which was amazing. I wish they had more options of Brazilian styled food but it was still great. Our waitress was also great and friendly. We had reservations at 7 but the band didn’t start playing till 8:45. The band was great, the singer was so enthusiastic and people got up to dance! Great atmosphere — def. recommend.

A $ 20 cover? First time I’ve had to pay for cover in New York. For $ 20, I expected something amazing. SOB’s is fun, but definitely not worth the cover charge. Also, I’m not sure if every night is similar, but it was Caribbean night and the DJ would shout out, «This is for all my Africaans!» Ummmmm… Cue awkward dancing from me and my white friend.

First time coming here but I’ve heard stories about this place growing up in NYC. The infamy of the club is right up there with the Tunnel, Shadow, Limelight, and many of the big name nightclubs of a long forgotten time in New York City. So yeah on to the meat of the review, I went here to see Teyana Taylor and her Unplugged event and being she is the First Lady of GOOD Music and I’m a member of the cult of Yeezus I had to show my support or else feel Kanye’s wrath lol. Me and a friend went to experience the powerhouse that is Teyana this past Thursday and let me tell you she did not disappoint. She put on a dope performance, the crowd was eating it up, not to mention special guests were in the building as well, Pusha T and Monica. Couldn’t get pictures of them as the crowd was just way too large. The sound system was thumping hard as ever as she sang cuts off her previous album. As for SOBs in general they were on their A game for security, the food smelled good, regret not getting any, and the drinks were made heavy handed judging by how a lot of people got lit almost instantly from their first drink. The only minor issue is that a dude exploded into vomit and snot, passed out in front of us and it took management too long to clean that crap up. No good in my book. Having two open bars means big trouble. Oh and what’s up with this 4 dollar bottle of Poland Spring? You know you doing something wrong if your price for water is higher than Smorgasburg.

I came here for one of my friends birthday, she got a package were everyone was supposed to be free but somehow they charged the men $ 10 at the door ! Four of my friends and I arrived at 11pm for Caribbean night, they didn’t let anyone in until 11:40 I couldn’t even run back to the car because the line was getting pretty long ! While on line I observed the dress code ! Guys wore everything you could think of except sweats. Females had on sneakers and most looked like they were going to Applebee’s ! I was so overdressed ! Finally in the venue the DJ was definitely playing the tunes from old to new. It gets really stuffy in here mainly with a lot of the grown & sexy crew. Drinks were really pricey $ 16 for Hennessy on the rocks in a small glass $ 3 for bottle water the bartender was rude as hell ! Will I return? maybe! Lol wasn’t what I expected smaller that I taught

Celebrated my cousin bday 6÷8÷2015 with family and friends on a Saturday and the places was packed. It must have been caribbean night because the soca and reggae was going strong!!! Now the music was not the best because they keep switching dj’s and one would play the jams and the other sounded like he was practicing in his basement. There is not alot of sitting places if your feet start to hurt because most of those seats are«reserved». Thank goodness the bouncer was being nice to me and let me sit VIP, but the funny part is when my cousins boy tried to come and say hello he made them back up :-). He let them come in once I said they cool, they was just checking on me. I must have been looking cute that day or like always.lol. The parking around there is hard, there are 2 main bars, coat check downstairs and bathroom in the back. Now when it gets packed in there the place will get hot and you will start sweating like you in basement party or literally a house party. They did make us wait on line for 45 minutes for nothing which sucked and it was early, but understand the rationale to make it look like the club is popping! Went back on 1÷9÷16 after another party and cover was $ 20.00. Walked in and my glasses was steaming up from all the heat in there. I walked in with heels and was in sneakers by the end of the night. Wasn’t sure if i could wear them so brought them with me. Saw girls with sneakers on so I should have left the shoes in the car. I sweated my hair again since this was my afterparty. The music was soca and reggae again and i didnt mind at all. Would recommend going and experiencing the black and caribbean culture. Full of fun and dancing!!!

If you love Soca and Reggae, this is the place to be on a Saturday night! One of the best Caribbean clubs I’ve been to ever, NYC included. You’re guaranteed to dance your butt off all night. The DJ was good. Played mostly Soca, but there was also a good mix of reggae and a little hip hop. Bottle service is reasonably priced and the service is good. I did go out in the crowd for a little and thought I was gonna die from the heat and there were too many aggressive men trying to grab me, so my 4 stars is based on having a table. For my pretty ladies– don’t be surprised if you have a few«admirers«ok ok stalkers, that may follow you, but I found them harmless. Keep in mind security was in full effect. Just a heads up that the line gets long and slow around 12AM, so either get there early or if you’re in a group. It’s cheaper to get a table($ 300 before 1am for 2 bottles and $ 300 after 1 for 1 bottle).

Good spot if you’re looking for live entertainment. They had a Brazilian singer and a full band on the Saturday night I went. The show was supposed to start at 8 but it didn’t really get started until 9. If you’re having dinner they’ll waive the cover charge, which I think is either $ 10 or $ 15. We got two pitchers. One caipirinha and one mojito. $ 50 each. Rough. But it only made sense considering the cocktails by the glass would have been about $ 14. The coconut shrimp was good but I can think of a Brazilian other sauces they should be serving this with instead of cocktail sauce. At $ 15 for only 5 shrimp, we were forced to get a second order. Service was attentive, but the bathroom attendant was as unreasonable as the prices, leaving me wondering who the SOB is that’s getting away with them.

Best Carribean Party in NYC! Booked VIP for my husbands 35th. The service was awesome. Bottle service… Food…attention to guests ALL surpassed my expectation for a NYC nightclub. Janine(server) and DK(security) and Peter(club manager) did their best to make me and my 25 guests feel at home. The DJ was incredible and we danced from 11pm to 4:30am. UNFORGETTABLENIGHT!

Celebrated a cousin B Day this weekend! I guess who you party with really makes the difference in the world! We had a blast with our group! This spot is cool. I think it’s hot or miss though. They have a good amount of vip sections and 2 – 3 main bars. Parking was a breeze, but the line to get in though… I mean seriously waiting on line for 45 mins to get into club with 15 people inside… Common brah!!! I was driving so didn’t drink, but heard the drinks were on point and pricey. The DJ… Hmmm one was ok and the other KILLEDIT as he rocked all Caribbean music I grew up on and a splash of rachet hip hop! Nyycee. He got the crowd moving. We might return as the Caribbean night was cool. I hope they can get the door and line process improved though.
