Food was pretty average, like in a student places. We paid 170 $ for sangrinia, 4 little pieces of ravioli and Osso Bucco. That’s pretty much it — not enough even for 1 person and the price was exorbitant. Another surprise was that they charged us 30 dollars tips — so we HAD to pay that even though we didn’t like neither service nor the food. Overall — overpriced and pretty bad place. Highly discourage.

omg the best dinner we had in NYC. delicious food and friendly service. it’s in little Italy so everyone tries to sell you to sit down at their restaurant. and I’m glad we did! will definitely come back — the gnocchi and risotto were to die for.

So delicious!!! My husband told me I better post because he couldn’t believe this restaurant was only 3 stars on here so give them a five!!! We got the bruschetta so good, my husband got the antipasto and it was mouth watering. I got gnocchi with Pesto and it was like no other pesto ever tasted. Worth every penny! The bread and dip before your meal is also amazing! Defiantly going back in a few days before returning home. Owner out front was also great and friendly!

One of the best places I’ve been to today. 4 stars because a couple of the clams in my dish were sandy. Overall amazing pasta, great food, and the staff were very friendly.

Inside edition. No lobster in the lobster ravioli. I wouldn’t be posting this if the owner at least talked to them when approached by the reporter.

The first day we checked the place out we saw the prices and decided to eat at La Nonna’s which was really good. The next day we went back to Little Italy and after meeting the owner the day before decided to give this place a go. He had actually remembered us from the day before and said«you guys decide to come eat today» which made us pretty excited about what he was offering. We sat down and they brought us water, but our glasses had lipstick on them. The Staff took them back and brought us clean glasses with no problem. We almost considered leaving after the dirty glasses but I’m glad we didn’t. The food is wonderful!!!

Wonderful homemade pasta. We had the mushroom ravioli and bolognese pasta and it was great! Pasta was cooked perfectly at «al dente.»

Great service — really amazing food! The homemade bologonese was to die for! Portions aren’t huge but ok to split if you aren’t starving. Wine was a bit overpriced but the atmosphere was great and it’s definitely authentic and a fun place!

Nice guy outside promising next glass of wine free. We were served a mixture of vinegar and welches grape juice. After discovering horrid reviews we decided to leave and paid $ 10 a glass for the premium sacrament wine we didn’t drink. We are now at Pellegrino’s across the street and very pleased.

Do Not Get Fooled By This Place! The guy outside was a great salesman and sold us on the fresh pasta«made 10 minutes ago» and the promise of offering happy hour specials on drinks. When we sat, they didn’t have beer on tap as «it wasn’t working.» The waiter only offered their house wine as the only special(buy one get one free) — well let me say that Welch’s Grape Fruit, 2006 vintage, was as sour and warm as the garbage left on the side of the street on a hot New York summer! After asking for the bill, practically every employee came to our table harassing us… Highly disappointed and do not recommend it to anyone!

The service wasn’t bad and the food wasn’t great. The man outside talked it up like it was the best, «homemade pasta, made 10 minutes ago», said he’d pay for our meal if we weren’t happy. I should have tried to take him up on that offer. I had the filet ravioli, it was covered in mushrooms, and the filling was not great. I wouldn’t call the sauce served on it a red wine sauce. I probably could have made it better and I’m not Italian! I will say the antipasto was pretty good. Already planning another trip to NY to try a different restaurant in Little Italy. I was very disappointed! Should have known better then to go to a place with no one else eating in it! Also wish I had read the reviews before.

The guy outside promises the world… sounded too good to be true. Pasta didn’t taste homemade. Our caprese never came. They didn’t offer bread, never refilled our drinks, they didn’t even offer grated parmesean cheese or red pepper on our dishes and automatically included a 20% gratuity even though the service sucked! I highly recommend you try another restaurant!

We came in to try the fresh pasta and were told if we didn’t like the food it was on them. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The portions were very small and the fettuccine had an overwhelming onion flavor. It was disgusting and the sauce was watery and the pasta was hard. We told the manager and was told that it how authentic fettuccine tastes. It was gross. I will not come back and would not encourage anyone to eat here. It was overpriced and the service was terrible. Terrible experience.

We enjoyed this place very much even though we were kind of talked into trying it. The pasta was really good, I had the Alfredo fettuccine and my boyfriend had the spaghetti. We also had fresh bread with a delicious basil olive oil served before we got our entrees. I’d recommend this place but it is a little pricier then some would want to spend.

Avoid the seafood. We came here to celebrate a friend’s recent engagement. He got the salmon and paid the price by vomiting the entire night. My wife and I who shared the seafood special were lucky enough to only get horrible diarrhea for 24 hours. The health department would do well to inspect this place.(Their most recent inspection was Feb ’15)

Pretty standard for Little Italy; good food, slowish service, typical menu, etc. We started with the bruschetta, which was probably the highlight of the meal. Really delicious fresh tomatoes on top of toast with goat(I think?) cheese and a thick balsamic vinegar. Perfect for 2 people as a small appetizer, but I’d probably get another to split if you have a larger party. I tried the penne alla norma and it was good, but not memorable. Pasta was cooked very al dente, which I know is the norm, but I like mine with a touch less bite. I probably should have gone for one of the homemade pastas instead. The pizzas here were definitely a good choice though; the proscuitto di parma had a great crust, and a good balance of ingredients. Overall, not the most memorable meal I’ve had in Little Italy, but a very safe choice.

Sofia’s is very good. The bread they bring to the table is not typical Italian bread. It’s a homemade, grainy bread that was soft and delicious with a chewy crust. We sat outside and people watched and the server did not rush us to place our order. Two of us had the specials which were sea bass steamed in foil with carrots and asparagus and the seafood platter which had lobster tails, shrimp… basically the entire ocean on a plate. We also had the mussels fra diavola, Italian sausage pizza and the chicken marsala. Everyone was pleased with their meals and the service.

God awful service(although I felt bad for our waiter – he had several tables – he just wasn’t attentive, didn’t understand things, etc – but I’ve been a busy server too and I know what to blame on the person and what to pin on the situation). Chk Parm was very good for one person, Alfredo is actually really bad(I can not stress just how bad), meatballs were very good, bolognese was awful – tasted exactly like Chef Boyardee). Plus, in response to people’s reviews that fish for compliments mentioned their bread and oil? It’s nothing special. Our check was completely divided incorrectly and we were not complicated. I would never recommend this place ever. Sorry. I have had better Italian elsewhere, and even though there were a couple good dishes, the service was the soured cherry on top. The owner(I assume) was outside peddling to get people to eat there. He’s very friendly, but if you’re passing by, please decline. There’s a reason he isn’t busy in the back and is busy creating business instead. And yes, they do add 18% gratuity automatically to your bill. I’m giving a one star review(sadly there isn’t zero) to let you know you can do mediocre Italian and it’s better than here.

Très bon, bonne ambiance et pour les fumeurs, enfin une terrasse où on peut fumer à NY!
