I got my contact lenses here and had the eye examination twice. The staff was really nice and patient with everything. I’d definitely come back if I’d ever need eyewear.

I’m only giving two stars because of the great selection of frames! But in terms of service… Carol was amazing, whom I only saw once, and the team upfront in sunglasses are the best! Mike, the owner, was quite short and rude! I honestly believe he was frustrated with the fact that my vision insurance covered such a great deal. He initially quoted me outrageous pricing without taking the time to see what my insurance covered, and was adamant about it. on the day of my exam I came fully equipped with information from my Vision Insurance, just so I wasn’t overcharged. The optometrist rushed my eye exam, and I felt as though he told her to cut corners. My daughter even said afterwards «Mommy that seemed so fast!» as she wears glasses too, and received such a more thorough exam at another competitor. He profiles his customers and I will never patronize this place again!

Outstanding! Me and my wife both went to get glasses and contacts. We were helped right away and found glasses from the amazing selection. We would definitely recommend going back!

I had the BEST experience purchasing a frame here (and getting an updated eye exam.) After spontaneously wanting to get new frames one morning, I called Specs RX at 11am and left the store at 3pm after selecting a fabulous Gucci frame. Thanks Michael, can’t wait to go back for sunglasses!

This store has a great selection of both glasses and sunglasses. I’m really happy with my new glasses. I chose my frames late on Wednesday and the lenses were ready by Friday. Staff was super helpful as well in helping me decide on a pair of frames. They also take VSP coverage so I got a great discount on what would have otherwise been very expensive glasses and lenses.

Clean, bright, great selection, wonderful and patient staff. Mike, the owner, is absolutely fantastic, and will cater to all of your questions and requests (I sure had a lot of them). I went here for an eye exam and will be coming back in the years to come to get my exams and my prescriptions. They even helped me find some great contacts for New York Comic Con! Truly a dream; I wish more businesses were like Specs.

They accept almost all kinds of insurance and they have great deals on eye wear. After my eye exam, I decided to purchase these really cool, CoCo & Breezy Shades and I’m just in love with them! Thank you Specs!

Our recent experience with Spex was terrific. My husband and I came in for an eye exam and new glasses and the folks at Spex were more than accomodating and very professional — not keeping us waiting and promptly checking on our insurance benefits. The eye doc and exam was quite thorough, too. What’s more, Spex has a large selection of frames available, from economical to expensive, from which to choose. They don’t try to push designer frames on you. In fact, Marielle offered great advice on styles, even recommending a pair of less expensive frames that made for some «awesome» (Marielle’s apt description) prescription sunglasses. In the end, we ordered three pair of glasses that were ready within the week.
There was just a slight snafu in communications when we wanted to pick up our glasses. We were told by one employee via text message that Spex was open on Sunday, only to find out they were closed when we came by. All in all, it was a great experience. We intend to return to Spex in the future and would recommend the company to anyone.

I was looking for a new pair of rx sunnies. Specs is super conveniently located, keeps great hours (including Sundays), has a stellar selection of frames and accepts insurance. I believe my policy is called EyeMed and they couldn’t have made the process easier. The optician Michael even texted me when my frames came back. He took measurements of my face to adjust the frames for a *perfect* fit. Specs carries a great selection of designer frames including Celine, Oliver Peoples, Gucci, Prada, Persol, Tom Ford, etc. Look forward to going back next year for a new pair of glasses!

They were so honest and so helpful. This is my new favorite eyeglass store in the village. And, in addition, what beautiful frames they sell! I highly recommend.

Simple, fast, great people, great selection! I made a same day appointment for an eye exam through ZocDoc, when I came in, the checkin was a breeze except finding my insurance. Jennifer spent a good 10 minutes looking for creative ways to find my rather obtuse vision plan. Only a small discount, but worth it! The exam was professional, fast, accurate, and very conversational. I liked that Dr Chu explained each step, what would happen, and what she was looking at.
All in all a great experience. I didn’t buy glasses here, but the selection looks significantly more than the average discount eye glass shop (you know who they are).

Dr. Ludwig and his team were friendly and provided exceptional service. It was great to find a eye doctor that worked in an area (Union Sq.) that was easy to get to during work and made sure to get you in and out as quick as possible. Thanks for the great service, and I will definitely be returning in the future.

I made a same-​day appointment. Priscilla was thorough and polite over the telephone. I scheduled for an eye exam for glasses and contact lenses.
I arrived early, filled out 1 small sheet of paperwork (the majority of information needed was collected when I called). The location is bright, spacious and has a TON of fashionable frames to choose from.
The Optician/​Eric was great. Priscilla and Michael (Optometrist) aided me with narrowing down my frame choices.
Part I of the process was swift, professional and quite enjoyable. As I departed, I noticed they have Coco & Breezy sunglasses and even though they were in the midst of closing-​a floor associate showed me a few pairs. Next Flex Spending trip…
Specs takes VSP and I look forward to ordering my new glasses and finishing the process once I decide on a frame style.
