My daughter and I love their lunch specials, specifically Drunken Man Noodle along with their appetizers & Thai Ice Tea, YUM!!! Prefect price to go along with the food.

Walked by this place(I usually order from Land Thai, two doors down) and looked at the menu, which looked great. Thought I’d try to order online. Couldn’t do it –nothing worked. Called to place my order. They put me on hold. For a loooong time. During the time I was on hold with Spice, I decide to see how long it would take to order the same thing from Land Thai. It took no time at all. Sorry, Spice. You snooze, you lose!

I’m a fan of this place. Quality Thai food, very good curry(any of them, I’ve tried them all). I would recommend this place.

Sorely disappointed by the quality of service or lack thereof from the person who took my phone order today. I made a substitution of brown rice for rice in an order, clarify a number of times as I ordered several dishes that required substitutions. Upon receiving my order, I see that my brown rice is missing and call to explain. The woman took no ownership for the error, claimed that she did not hear me and I would be responsible for the cost of the rice. It is disappointing because I have patronized this restaurant for some time and am surprised by their poor customer service.

Went for a group dinner and had a really nice experience. The drink menu is extensive, my sake caipirinha with mango was nice and refreshing, not to mention it was a huge glass. They offer the typical Thai foods that I crave(noodles and curry), along with some very decent meat, seafood, and vegetarian entrees. Spring roll app was pretty basic and pretty good. The pad thai was just the way I like it — a little saucy, balanced yet strong flavors, not overcooked, not that strange neon-pink color. Maybe one of my favorites I’ve ever had. The thai volcanic chicken was flavorful and juicy, not really spicy like the name would suggest. The crunchy pork belly entrée was also delicious, almost reminds me of a chinese-style charsiu pork with much of the fat rendered out and an intense sweet/savory/smoky flavor — amazing combo with coconut rice. Dessert was also impressively good — the taro bread pudding was sooo satisfying. There was a little bit of a language barrier with the waiter, but service was overall very friendly and the manager was very accommodating with food allergies and requests. It was my friend’s birthday and we picked up a bunch of donuts for her, they made an amazing donut-stack-cake for us. The food is definitely on the better end of Thai restaurants in the same price range, everything is very affordable($ 10 – 20 for an entrée) and the portions are generous. Great place to drop by for a quick meal.

I have ordered from Spice 3x. Each time, the food has exceeded the time frame that the order is expected to arrive in(I have never waited less than an hour for my food), and tonight, their website lost my order! When I called to find out where my order was, complain and reorder, they did not offer to expedite my order or fix the situation. There never seems to be a manager working, and no one can handle the orders coming in. They are always overwhelmed and provide horrible customer service. I will NEVER order from here again or eat in the restaurant.

They used to be good but have gone way downhill the past year. Ordered delivery, I called after an hour and they said they didn’t have my order on file. 30 min after that my food mysteriously showed up but after talking to them the delivery person couldn’t leave it with me because I was not charged. The delivery guy was very nice and I hope he finds a better place to work for so he can make better tips! I used to order from the all the time. Definitely taking them out of the rotation.

Very good place to come eat in the UWS. The prices are reasonable and they have a very good lunch menu. I ordered the drunk man noodles with beef and it came with chicken dumplings all which was very good. I’ll be coming back here next time in NYC and will recommended anyone to do so

Horrible food, horrible slow delivery! Now I wish the food had never come at all… The Drunk Man Noodle delivered to me after a long 50-minute wait was not edible. It had a strange smell like plastic, and the oil used to cook that noodle dish was obviously old. Also, the Wok Basil came with a horribly hard beef. Tom yum soup had zero mushroom as well. The napkins were dirty, and just one folk came with two entrees. Where are the spoons for our tom yum soup then? I am done with this Spice location. Sorry, you just blew two customers in the air… Bye bye.

I’ve always had a good experience here. We always order the pad Thai spring rolls, the shrimp Tom yum soup, shrimp masaman curry and shrimp drunk man noodles(I opt for seafood at Thai places). Pad Thai spring rolls: pretty good. Shrimp Tom yum: spicy! Not as sweet as other Thai places and has onions in it which are fantastic. Masaman curry with shrimp: not authentic but tastes great. I actually prefer it this style. It’s a lot creamier and less oily than an classic masaman curry. Drunk man noodles with shrimp: not that great, but it’s way better than their pad Thai.

A decent joint, with good service. It is now a bit of a chain as there are so many locations. I used to enjoy the one on university so my fiancé and I have come to this one several times as it is near our church. I have to say their food just isn’t on par and it is a bit diluted in flavor. Their Phad Thai is watery and their spring rolls were not packed. It just isn’t great Thai food in general, but if you are hungry and you like a nice place with edible food, for not too many dollars, this place will do. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. I have to say my favorite thing here is just their Tom yum soup. They layer the flavors properly and I found it satisfying. All in all, this isn’t a bad pick if you are just hungry and need a quick fix. The portions are generous and the food comes pretty fast. The people are nice and you always know what you’re going to get.

How is this place so popular? My sister and I ordered in from one of their locations last night, and I was up all night not feeling well. Their summer roll skin was mushy and sticky, not rolled tight so everything kept falling all over the plate. Their dumplings were coated in «something» not very tasty. Their steamed buns had no scallions as noted in their menu, and was so boring. The cucumber wasn’t even sliced up small and in thin julienne strips as most places do. A large massive round chunk! That’s a first. Aside from the poor execution of food given to their customers, their sauces tasted weird. We love Thai(all spices from around the world), and this has to be the worst I’ve ever had. It’s like that restaurant that’s always busy, and you just don’t know why cause it’s not good. That’s what this place is. I can tell you a ton of great other Thai places to go to. Last time we’re trying Spice.

Is there any way I can give this place 3.5 stars? If so I would do it. I come here a few times a year. Nice minimalistic décor. Service is friendly and quick, to the point that you might end up with an appetizer and a main course at the same time if you don’t eat with decent speed. Food is pretty decent, especially when you look at the prices. When I compare Spice to Land however, I will pick Land over Spice, hands down. Spice = Good enough to eat & cheap. That’s the bottomline. :)

Spice is one of those places that looks really fancy, but when you open the menu you realize it’s actually like every other Thai restaurant in the area and the food is just as good. The difference between Spice and the other Thai joints is the service… And that’s because you’ll be served better at the others. Spice has great décor and decent food, but their ability to stay on top of what you’re ordering and bring out the right dishes is comically funny. Come here if you’re looking to sit outside and catch up with friends, but don’t come here if you’re hoping to impress a date.

I’ve been to various Spice locations in the city over the years(wrote a review of the one in Brooklyn a while back). When I dine in, the food is good. I’ve gotten some food delivered from the UWS location and would usually say that certain dishes are delicious and stand up to delivery. Yet, I’m also of the school of thought that if you offer delivery, your food should stand up to it — or you should create a delivery menu for the offerings that do. The other night, I ordered the chicken satay; the flavor of the marinade for the chicken was delicious; the peanut sauce was delicious. The chicken, however, was undercooked — which is, to me, unforgivable. I had to throw out half of it. We also had the thai ribs; I agree with a previous reviewer that they were almost flavorless. Balancing the meat with some veggies, I ordered a side of steamed vegetables with«Thai dipping sauce.» The dipping sauce was a bitter soy sauce-based dip, and the vegetables were so mushy by the time delivery happened, that I had to pitch both. I’ve tried — and now I’m done. There are other Thai places in the neighborhood I plan to try; I’m done with Spice.

Yes it’s a chain but I have always been happy here. The prices are decent, the food is yummy, and the service is always great. I go here when I don’t have oodles of time to spend over a meal and have not been disappointed. Current favorites are the eggplant and massaman curry dishes. Good size portions too.

Of all the cities I’ve ever lived, NYC has the worst Thai food, bar none. It’s our curse. Spice is a *slight* cut above the rest. Maybe the best thing I can say about this Thai food is this: it doesn’t taste like Chinese food! There isn’t that wok peanut-oil sheen/aroma to all the food. That’s a start, but they have a long, long way to go for this to be _good_Thai food. The best Thai food in NYC is the Thai food that I make, but for most of you, that simply isn’t an option unless we become friends. :) Thai Spare Ribs: C+ Dreadful. The ribs were the meaty variety. Very little fat, and hence, very little flavor. The bulk of the flavor came from the sauce which was entirely too sweet. I was hoping for a real Thai sauce, which should have overtones of nam pla. Alas, this tasted like Saucy Susan. Duck sauce. Lemongrass Tom Yum: B I’m giving this a «B» rating in comparison to other NYC Thai restaurants. Stacked up against Thai food from Tokyo, San Francisco, Washington DC it would be more like a C. It had the lemon overtones, but not nearly enough. I didn’t see any lemon grass stalks; not a good sign. Maybe I detected a slight fish undercurrent, but it was nearly undetectable. I like my tom yum like I like tom yum: fishy, lemony, and spicy. Coconut Galanga Tom Kha: B Same as above; a «B» in comparison to its peer NYC Thai counterparts. It wasn’t flavorful or aromatic enough. Still, it was better than its peers. It still had button mushrooms. Sigh… Spicy Crispy Pork Belly: B Bits of pork belly in a bed of a leafy green which I couldn’t place. Maybe swiss chard, maybe bok choy greens. Not sure. The bits of pork belly were small and hardly crispy, but they were plentiful. The sauce was salty but worked with the dish. It was a decent dish, but I wouldn’t order it again. Red Curry: B You know, I really didn’t taste much red curry paste. Yeah, it was kinda sorta spicy. Kinda sorta. Would’ve preferred it much hotter. Yeah, it was good. But it didn’t have that lemony soapy flavor that kaffir lime leaves impart to a dish. Still, it’s definitely a cut above its NYC peers. In short, I’m still on a quest for good Thai food in NYC. But Spice is definitely one of the best I’ve had in this city, so far.

Sorry, not sorry, everytime I make a new friend, I use it as an excuse to go to Spice. I love this place. This location specifically. I have dinned in, delivered, and done take out, and they have yet to judge me. I was walking my bulldog(three blocks to it) and it took me like 20 minutes, a few minutes after the place closed. The lovely staff brought my order out to me! Love the pad thai, coconut soup with some rice, rangoo, the shrimp apps, and the white sangria! Have never had a complaint!
