This is my first time at Spice Thai place. I see them all around town but never tried it until recently. The presentation was fine the dishes look yummy but the flavor was disappointing. I had the Crispy half(Thai) chicken– eatable but the platter look so disappointing. The half chicken was small, the scoop of curry rice was very greasy and the two slice of tomatoes looked lonely and abandon. The curry rice was just sweet with no hot at all. The chicken was just over cooked. Rate 3⁄5 This location is not crowded; maybe it is the food quality. It is not Thai food, just semi-Thai.

The garlic chicken is amazing! You can’t beat the lunch specials here. So much food and for so little money. Plus, pickup service is so fast and minutes away from my office. I think this is my favorite Spice location, as weird as it is to say… Their food is really the most consistent of all the Spice locations around.

This location is more spacious and there was no ridiculous wait as opposed to the location on 13 Street. As usual, the food is only mediocre but we go here because it’s cheap for the area. I might have to rethink this because I am never happy leaving Spice. The portions are decent for the price. The noodles in the drunken noodles were mushy, falling apart and clumpy. I never had rice noodles in such bad shape. I’ve had freshly made broad rice noodles a million times and it’s never been mushy like today’s dish. I didn’t taste any spiciness to the dish at all and it is supposed to be a bit spicy. The aged pork chop was too sweet for me. Nice portion but way too sweet for me.

The last time I came here was about 6 years ago when my sister still went to NYU. I didn’t like it then & for some listened to another friend rec & came back. The lunch special is reasonably priced which is why I give it the two stars vs. one. This place is «modern thai» & not good at that either. I got the Shrimp Fritters & Drunk Man Noodles with chicken & tofu. The Shrimp Fritters could have been good had they not been drowned in the sweet chili sauce. The fritter wrapper was incredibly soggy, I like having a bit of crunch to the skin — this was not it. They should have either poured less over the fritters or placed it on the side for dipping. The drunk man noodles were actually sweet. If you’ve had drunken noodles you know it’s supposed to be spicy, the menu also indicated it was spicy. It was not. I was so disappointed by this place. At least the entire meal was just $ 10. If you want good Thai food venture to Ayada or SriPhaPhai. If you want modern Thai try KittiChai.

Love this place! I’ve been a regular patron of the Spice for a number of years now and this is the best Spice out of all their restaurants around the city. I’ve come here for both dinner and lunch special. Dinner was fabulous, very large portions, nice presentation and everything we ordered tasted great. My friend ordered novelty drinks and they don’t skimp out here either; drinks come in these tall glasses. With anything you order, you def. feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. Lunch specials include most dishes on the regular menu(except curries) and a free appetizer. They do NOT skimp on the portion size or the appetizer quality. The inside décor is nice and spacious! Long tables to share for bigger groups and also small tables off to the side for couples and pairs. Service is nothing special but it’s not really important to me when food/price exceeds expectations!

I’ve been to the other locations and have always been satisfied with the food and service. I will definitely come back here again and I highly recommend the Drunk Man Noodles if you haven’t tried it already!

I got SPICE fried calamari and chicken pad Thai. Atmosphere is nice as other spices and the food still tastes good.

Came here for lunch break around 12pm. It got super packed from 12:30pm onwards. The venue is medium sized. I got the pad thai. Portions were huge, but overall good :). The thai ice tea was a bit on the sweet side for me, but I usually find most thai ice tea places to be too sweet for me.

Spice is just another attempt at modern Thai food. The dark dining room and minimalistic furniture attract a young, fashionable crowd that is willing to compromise authentic cooking for a cool atmosphere. The tight space and often boisterous customers make it hard to really enjoy your meal. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available, though there is no actual bar space at this location. Affordable menu options are a plus, though. On my recent lunch visit, I had steamed dumplings and eggplant basil with seafood. The dumplings were stuffed with a mixture of shrimp and chicken meats, and served clumped together on a plate with sweet soy sauce. The dumplings were unfortunately overcooked because the shells were hard. My main entrée was the eggplant dish with seafood. The selection of seafood was mediocre: rubbery calamari, fried fish filet, imitation crab(yikes), tiny shrimps. There were only five pieces of eggplants, which was very disappointing. Spice is a dime-a-dozen when it comes to Manhattan Thai cuisine. Sure, feel free to stop in for a meal, but do not go out of your way.

Spice is the most wonderful place in the world and here’s why: 1. $ 8.71 Lunch special is a ton of food and very filling for an amazing price. Some of my coworkers say it’s too salty for them, but I really like the food. 2. The food is ready for pick up in 10MINUTES. I order, walk over, and by the time I get there it’s ready. 3. The hostesses are always insanely nice. What more could you possibly want?

Classic Thai food, well portioned, and tastes good. Can’t go wrong with Drunk Man Noodle(flat noodles, spicy). This location is IDEAL for groups — lots of seating available on a Saturday night. Don’t get their alcoholic mixed drinks unless it is sake or beer. It’s all WATEREDDOWN. If I wanted to drink a fruity drink, I would have ordered fruit punch and paid 1⁄3 the price.

Came in with a group of 8 at 7pm was seated very quickly. The décor was pretty pleasant with dim lighting and nice art. It took our server close to 10 minutes to bring us water and ask if we could start with drinks. Most of my group ordered cocktails which we clearly should habe reconsidered. The drinks were very weak. I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and it tasted as if I had brown water. Very disappointed in that. For my appetizer I ordered the Crispy Shrimp Martini which was pretty to look at and ok in taste. I felt the sauce didn’t add anything ro thr flavor. For my entrée I ordered mixed seafood glass noodles. This dish was pretty good. The seafood appeared fresh and the glass noodles prepared pretty well. After our meal we were not asked if we wanted any dessert and it took quite awhile to receive our check. All in all the experience was just mediocre. If I had to come for a friend I would but would not be my first choice for dinner.

Came in with a group of seven around 9:45 on Saturday with a party of six. Unlike other Unilocalers, we found that the service was satisfactory! I ordered the summer roll(like a Vietnamese runner roll) to start, which was really just stuffed with shredded lettuce and a piece of tofu and served with a peanutty dipping sauce,(not worth it unless you’re in pre-spring break starvation mode and get dragged out to eat by some unsympathetic friend.) For dinner, I ordered lemongrass chicken which came with two nice sized grilled chicken cutlets that were a bit overcooked and served in a thick, sweet sauce with bok choi and carrots and side of rice. I wanted less sweet, less sauce, more fresh veggies not drowned in the sweet sauce, and the chicken to be tender. I tried my friend’s chicken that came in a peanut since with broccoli which was very tasty(but what dish that’s made with a circus load of peanuts isn’t yummy?)

The interior is nice and the staff is friendly, but the food was way off. My food was way to spicy, and my friends food wasn’t at all. It almost looked like I had both of our spices. I wouldn’t come back here

A friend of mine swore up and down that this place was fantastic, and even though I was skeptical, I let her drag me down there and man am I glad that she did. We went for the lunch special and it was so worth it. For $ 8-$ 10 you get an entrée and an appetizer. I got the veggie pad thai and the shrimp fritters adn it was all so good. I devoured the entire plate in no time. Everyone I was with felt the same about their food too. It was great. I deducted one star because we were absolutely FREEZING the entire time we were there. I’m pretty sure they didn’t have the heat on in the restaurant and it made eating there very unpleasant. But the food really was outstanding.

I dont like spice at all. The food is too watered down. I want something more authentic and I got something kind of drab. There isnt much romance here and there isn’t much else. There really isnt a reason to try this place unless you are really into fusion. Come check this place and stay open minded. You mighr really like it. You might enjoy that american version of asain food that we all thought we would enjoy.

By no means am I a Thai cuisine expert but I really liked this place. The photos I saw made the ambiance seem a bit cafeteria like but when I went it was very quiet and well set. It was late afternoon so everything had regular sunlight and dim lighting with our waitress in white. They slowly dimmed the lights and everyone changed into black uniforms and candle lit tables. Simple but effective touches. The waitress was so cordial. Not friendly, chummy but cordial and gave a taste of Asia feel to it. The food was nice and spicy. I had the royal pork dish which had red curry, pineapple, crispy pork belly and some other veggies. I got a big bowl so the servings are ample and this is coming from a big eater. I tried my friends duck which was pretty much the same exact dish just crispy duck. I like my duck a lot more crispy especially when it’s submerged in something wet. The special appetizer of pad thai spring rolls made me giddy inside. I wish this was a regular menu item because I would buy this as a street snack when in the area. I have a feeling Thai can get more authentic but this was really good and reasonably priced.

What happened to this place? I used to love this place and the food was delicious, but I recently got take out and was so let down! I had the beef drunken noodles and it was just so basic and mediocre that I could barely finish it. I ended up throwing away half of it because it was just extra calories that I didn’t need. It didn’t even look appetizing! I had the thai iced tea as well and even that was just blah. I used to love this place and the décor is still great, but food wise, I think it’s time I give up on this place.

We randomly stumbled upon Spice after finding out that Ippudo would be a crazy 3 hour wait. We passed by Spice earlier when walking and decided to double back there for dinner. I checked the reviews first to make sure we weren’t stepping into unknown territory and Unilocal came back with a passing score. We had a Thai guy in our group to make sure it passed his level of expectations. The people working in the restaurant speak fluent Thai so it’s authentic. The restaurant is pretty large and the tables were very wide(they’re communal). It’s great for groups and perfect for us since we were a large party so we got our very own table. They seated up promptly and took our order. We started with a couple of appetizers: calamari, papaya salad, and tom yum. I didn’t try the soup but the calamari and papaya salad were good. I ordered the crispy duck and it was quite good. The meat was really tender and the outside skin was crispy. I love roast duck and this was a dish I equally enjoyed.‘ Service was good at the restaurant. They refilled our drinks and brought out our food in a timely manner. I would return here again.

Nice and chill. That’s the best description of Spice. Solid GOOD food, with decent presentation. Comfortable seating with modern and chic lighting. I like this place a looottt. oh yeah, why suffering lining up at Ippudo, with the neighbor Spice winning in all categories. There’re already four chains of Spice just in this neighborhood, can you believe that? i guess they are doing really well :) (Mais c’est bien sûr !)
