Studio D-Stage, Style, & Shop

Very satisfied with my purchase form Studio D a few years back. I got a great bed and at a reasonable price. I would have paid double at west elm! Best purchase of my life? No. but very reasonable and easy experience that I would do again in a second.

My experience with Studio D was profoundly despicable. I worked with a designer on a custom couch with a built in sleeper. When the couch arrived the bed mechanism can be hanging below the frame of the couch. I immediately went to their office with photos. Their response — it was not their problem — rather it is mine. That I would have to pay to ship the couch back to LA where it was manufactured and pay additionally to fix the problem. A CUSTOM couch. Shifting the manufacturing defect to me. I have attempted multiple times to come to a solution with them — their owners are not on site, do not return emails or phone calls. I had to file a SMALL CLAIMS LAW SUIT in order since they refuse to alleviate the responsibility of the problem. I am surprised they are able to maintain a business. Save yourself the headache and huge waste of time, resources, creativity, and energy.

I have to say that my experience with Studio D has been less that professional from the start. I initially responded to an ad on Craigslist that appeared to be listed by the owner of a piece of furniture, not a dealer. I made an appt to view the piece and wasn’t given any indication that I would arrive at a showroom. Sarah was late for our appointment, emailing me at the time we were to meet that she was delayed. I was surprised to find that I was waiting to go look at a picture of the piece that was advertised as being in the showroom. I still bought it, however, despite Studio D’s no refund policy.
I paid their higher-​than-​market delivery rate without complaint, but when the piece arrived I was very disappointed with its quality, and it wasn’t true to its advertised dimensions. When contacting Sarah about the size discrepency, she simply claimed that my measurements couldn’t be accurate and that it could be removed for the same high delivery charge. I again agreed, but couldn’t help but feel that I had been taken advantage of.
So after being issued a store credit for the piece, I scheduled another appointment to visit the studio and try to find something else for my home. When I arrived, the studio was closed and the phone was not answered. I emailed Sarah and she responded a couple of days later that it was «weird» and that she had, in fact, been there when I was. Again, I did not complain and asked if there was an easier way for me to deal with her that to trek down to the West Village. She sent me links to catalogs from which she can order and instructed me to reach out to her for prices, which I did and I received no response. Admittedly, I have not been at all aggressive with Sarah as it seems she really could care less and I have no recourse.
So here I am, having responded to an ad with misleading information, ending up with a product I didn’t like, paying over $ 100 to see what it actually looks like, and unable to use the credit that Studio D issued. I find it hard to believe that all the other reviews are so positive.

Recently moved to NYC and needed to furnish a new apartment. Went to Studio D on the recommendation of a friend and couldn’t be happier with the results. Sarah was very easy to work with. She looked at our floorplan and made great suggestions based of the layout and look we were going for. She was patient and helpful as we looked through all the options available… And in the end, we ended up going with what she had suggested all along.
They have a great selection and the prices are even better. We’ve since referred several friends to them and still stop in occasionally to see if we «need» anything else.

It was time to upgrade my furniture, the only problem is I have such a hard time trying to figure out what I want and how all the pieces fit together. I had been to a few other stores and wasn’t impressed with the selection or prices, let alone the help from the sales people.
I found Studio D when I was on Craigslist and the offer to come in with my room dimensions and they would help me create the perfect room was music to my ears.
Sarah was amazing and had tons of patience since I was there for a few hours. What started out as a search for living room furniture, I ended up with a kitchen table, chairs & deck too! The quality of the pieces, the shipping and the overall price can’t be beat.
I’m looking forward to going back to Studio D soon when I redo my bedroom.

Sarah at studio D put an end to my nearly yearlong search for the perfect dining table. My small studio presented many spatial constraints on what table would fit in and look right. With her design know-​how she suggested a round glass top which would take up very little «visual space», as she put it, and the open looking X base (in walnut) also lent itself beautifully to my needs. The table arrived and it looks amazing! I definitely plan to return to buy other pieces in the future. Studio D has a beautiful collection of furniture and the prices are really amazing… and, of course, they had the good sense to hire Sarah who’s a great help with design issues. No… I’m not a relative… merely a very happy client. Also, the delivery service they suggested was cheap and truly «white-​glove.» A wonderful experience all around!

I’m in love with the couch and ottoman I got at Studio D! Sarah and her assistant were very sweet and helpful. I originally was looking for a brown couch and they convinced me to get one in cream and they were totally right. The cream couch with brown ottoman looks fantastic in the space.
Ive been recommending Studio D to all my friends.

I had my first visit to Studio D last week. Sarah was great, you can really tell that she is passionate about design and really listens to what you have to say. She gave a lot of great suggestions and once I told her that I was just looking she let me look around myself. I never felt pressured to buy but their prices are awesome so of course I wanted everything!
I would definetly recommend Studio D and Sarah to anyone who is looking to totally redesign their place or just looking for some nice new furniture.
