Order was average overall but the burger was pretty bad. I asked for medium and it was delivered well done.

Sunflower Diner was a last resort — but boy, was it good! Open during Jonas 2016, and one of the only places to provide quality service to the Kips Bay area. Would recommend to a friend, 100%. Come here they have amazing nachos and every other food you would want during a snow day!

This place is terrible. $ 20+ for a Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries &2 Cokes that were warm. That would be okay if the fries weren’t greasy and soggy, they actually put the ketchup and mayo on like I had asked, the bun wasn’t a day old and they had actually used burger meat that wasn’t frozen. One of those places that gives you so much food to make up for their absurd prices. Oh let’s not mention I had said just lettuce and onion and they gave me just tomatoes. I’ve worked in restaurants for 12+ years now. Sucks cause I live across the street, hopefully the«chef» reconsiders his menu from 1998.

Fantastic Lemon Meringue Pie!!! Do you know how hard it is to find this type of pie in New York City? It’s almost EXTINCT and the one served here is the MackDaddy fabulous kind with an almost toasted meringue head! They also make a memorable Grilled Cheese and if you ask. they’ll make it grilled in real butter just like your Bubby made! Fast delivery!

I liked the sandwiches that they serve, and the chocolate layer cake for dessert. This location used to be a Laundromat.

Not sure how you can mess up a BEC, but they figured it out. Took one bite and threw it out. Expensive too. I would recommend any other diner in the area.

I ordered breakfast from this diner through Seamless. After an hour and a half of calling to see about the status of my order,(during which time I was hung up on and put on hold numerous times), the food still hadn’t arrived. I’m not usually one to leave these reviews, but this diner’s terrible customer service really irritated me. Moreover, when I received my meal, it was cold and terrible. Avoid!!!

Love it here. My roommate and I come here every Sunday. Nothing over the top special about it, but overall good classic diner food. Also very cheap for city prices.

I stopped in for a late breakfast. I got a seat on the sunporch where I could see the street and enjoy the sunshine. I got a Belgium waffle with maple syrup and bacon. It was delicious and a great price!

This is a great diner. I had the meatloaf special(because I am an 85 year old lady) which was $ 12.95 and included three large delicious slices of meat loaf covered in a mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, a giant side of spinach, a soup AND a salad. I was stuffed and had plenty to take home for lunch. The waiter was one of the friendliest servers I have ever had and was super attentive. He make sure I had everything I needed and cleared the plates right as I was finished and promptly brought the next part of the meal. I love diner food and I will be back if I am in the area.

My go-to diner. Great omelettes & well done potatoes. They used to be much better and shredded, but they recently changed them. Very fast delivery, only diner you can order eggs from and they come hot!

Pretty terrible on all fronts. Mozzarella sticks have a weird cream cheese filling or were undercooked. Side of bacon way over cooked and has that burnt taste. Eggs a la sunflower average at best. Service very inattentive. Had to hail them down, food sat too long on window, and all of my items came Out at once. Appetizer and entrée all at once makes for an eating race before it eats cold. Overall, don’t bother. Better places and much better diners in NY.

One of my favorite diners in the neighborhood. Their coffee is superb. They have an extensive menu that rivals many non diners in the neighborhood. I enjoy my Sunday breakfast at the Sunflower with their generous coffee refills. Possibly a bit pricy but we are in Manhattan.

The food can be good… for example, French fries and omlets, but even this is hit and miss. My issue is how rude the managers and phone staff are. They mostly have contempt for their customers. These people should not be working with the public, Or alternately should be on meds.

Absolutely disgusting. Terrible service, got food poisoning the next day. Called the diner, and the man working there was rude and sounded like a drunk, 10 beers in). Go here if you want to deal with 24 hours of motion sickness, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Not worth it. Overpriced garbage food. 3 wraps for $ 50.00. This isn’t Yankee stadium. This is how the phone call went: Diner: «aaaaaaaaaahellyo» Me: «Is this manager there?» Diner: «aaaaaaaaaaawhodis?» Me: «A customer.» Diner: «aaaaaaaaaphone numberahhhhhwah? Me: «Your establishment gave me severe food poisoning from last night.» Diner:(incoherent mumbles) — *hangs up phone* The health inspector needs to go there stat. Close this place down. And get a lesson in customer service.

I ordered a medium-rare bacon cheeseburger deluxe. They delivered a medium-well burger(at best) and the fries didn’t have any salt whatsoever. I ate half of the burger and about an hour later I experienced intense abdominal cramps and ran straight to the bowl. Thinking the problem was just the beef, I took the bacon and tomato from the untouched half and used it in a sandwich I made. Whoa was that a mistake! I was vomiting within the hour. Ultimately, I cannot say what exactly was toxic, but the order came out wrong and was gross anyways. I’d say, save yourself the disgust and skip this place!

Welcome, local Kips Bay-ers! Looking for a regular ol’ spot to eat for lunch? Might I suggest Sunflower Diner to satisfy your good-but-not-outstanding food craving? There were a few solid points to mention about this place: First, even during lunch time rush, service was still really speedy. I had an hour meal break, but this left me plenty of time to eat. Second, the prices don’t massacre your wallet with a machete. It’s a diner, and priced appropriately for being so, being located in Manhattan. You’re factoring in that Manhattan rate, right? I got the grilled chicken sandwich that had the avocado, but my one qualm with it was that the avocado looked obscenely awful and unappetizing. It was already aged/oxidized and had numerous dark brown patches all over it, as if it was spending it’s last few moments of life before rotting away. Did I still eat it? Yes. I’m Filipino and taught to pick off the bad parts and eat the rest. But if the person in the kitchen had eyes, they’d definitely see it, but chose to serve it anyway. Diner standards for you. My friend got cheesy garlic bread which was surprisingly awesome. Simple, but good. Other than my hideous avocado mishap, the food was really tasty and came with a generous portion of fries. For the price, it’s most definitely a filling, cost effective meal. If you aren’t starving, saving half the sandwich for lunch the next day is a viable option. Also, try the lemonade and add some strawberry to it. Probably has the high-fructose corn syrup in it, but it’s pretty good for a refreshing drink.

The food was overpriced and mediocre for the price we paid. The only thing I liked was the chicken rice soup. The food tasted bland and it should’ve been better since it was so pricey. The atmosphere was terrible. It was pretty obvious the staff members didn’t like one another as insults flew to one another. The service was horrible. I had to practically fend off the waitress since I had to tell her like 3 times that NO I did not want to take my food to go and that I was still eating. I finally relented and let her pack it(what’s the hurry lady?) and then she proceeded to give us the check. The WRONG check. Then she acts like it’s our fault and delayed us even more trying to figure out her mess. Should’ve went with my gut feeling and avoided this place. Never again.

I went here recently for lunch with some coworkers. One of them orders sandwiches here regularly and loves it. I felt like having breakfast for lunch so I ordered two scrambles eggs and a Belgian waffle. The eggs were tasty and fresh. Most of my coworkers ordered triple decker sandwiches which they enjoyed. The fries were good too. Like any typical diner the menu is huge and serves the typical diner fare. The staff were friendly and got our orders correct. The service was fairly slow, maybe they were busy because it was lunch time, but I would go elsewhere if in a hurry.
