This used to be a great place to go sfter games at the garden. But the prices went way up and the still serve of Styrofoam and with nad plastic utensils. And the wouldn’t give me a cup of water. I had to buy one. Last visit here.

Tried their lunch special — great price and good portion! And its a huge bonus that they are not super salty! Will def choose them again!

Happen to pass by and was in mood for Indian food. The place was clean and staff very welcoming. The food was good and not so pricey.

Very decent Indian food. One of the few places where lamb is not passed for goat. They have both. The dishes are what the menu says they are. Good service. Safe choice for UWS.

It’s standard stuff. Nothing mind blowing. Usually get the Goat Curry, it suffices for a lunch time Indian crave.

It’s good for fast food. The naan was hot and warm just like your man should be. The rest was ok. Pakora left me feeling sad.

The food is good and I’ve been ordering from here regularly for a long time but now they’ve increased their lunch special price by more than 25%! WTF!

The food tastes amazing and they give you a lot of food. I only went in to order food to go. The tables were kind of messy and unclean. The guy couldn’t really understand me and I couldn’t really understand him. I found a huge seed in my food too. I ordered like 2 or 3 things and it tasted good, but I wasn’t happy about this huge seed. Other than that I would probably maybe come back to order again but not sit in there…

Very lousy setup doesn’t even serve the basic Indian food with min required recipe or culinary skills. Prepare to be highly disappointed when you go here.

Wonderful and authentic flavors used in the preparation of the food, I wish they had more low carb options for sides; vegetables or curried fruit maybe. instead of rice and naan bread. I will definitely go back for the chicken tikka again though :)

Just had the non-vegetarian combo, it was on point. I see a lot of other bad reviews, maybe the cook was in a good mood today but I’ve had bad Indian food before and this was delicious. Had the chicken tikka masala, eggplant, daal and naan. Everything was hot and delicious.

Literally the worst Tikka Masala I have ever been presented with. A third of the dish was made up of separated oil another fourth consisted of rubbery, gristly chicken. Purchased about half an hour before closing time, maybe I just got the bottom of a barrel. Sure tasted like it anyway.

I had their veggie platter and samosas taste not that great at all, I go to the place cause I work close to it. Even the chai come on guys make it better, specially being such a prime location with decent sitting area. I have given this place 3 tries but it’s still not good on the taste.

For some(unexplainable) reason, I was suddenly having a craving for Indian food. I’ve had Indian food before, and I actually feel like it’s the most underrated cuisine — not sure why but everybody suddenly thinks of a smelly cab whenever the conversation comes up. So, putting the imagery of a smelly cab driver to the side, I decided to order in some Indian grub, and checked a few spots online and ended on Swagat Indian Restaurant. I ordered the: *Tandoori Chicken(white meat only) *Nan *Vegetable Pakora Food came quickly, and I went in for the crush. The verdict: I didn’t love anything — it was bland and lukewarm. I was excited for the nan but that sucked, it had no butter on it and was cold. The chicken was dry as can be — I had a fun routine, where I’d take a bite of the chicken and chug half a can of ginger ale. The vegetable pakora was weird, I felt random hard things inside of it — I wasn’t sure if it was food or pieces of plastic, I obviously kept eating it — but was in complete fear the entire time. The whole meal was pretty crappy, I wouldn’t order from them again and I’m not sure you should either — unless of course, you like pretty crappy Indian food.

I called ahead and picked up chicken korma lunch and a mango lassi(they only have mango, no sweet lassi without mango.) It wasn’t ready when I arrived, which was nbd except that the food all seems to be on a steamer table; wouldn’t they have just scooped it? The chicken was three large unwieldy chunks in sauce that was certainly creamy but not flavorful. I joked to my coworker just now that the rice had more flavor than the sauce. The mango lassi was okay, but not very cold and very, very sweet. for $ 12, pretty disappointing.

Great little lunch place! Ordered the lunch combo — you get a naan, a protein, a veggie and rice. Everything was great — pretty flavorful. I think they can use a heavier hand with the spices but this is an awesome deal for 8.95. Best part? Being able to order samosas by the piece! In all I’d say this is a nice little no frills spot for Indian food. Oh and last note — this is a self serve place as in you grab a tray and seat yourself. There are no servers here.

I have only tried this place thanks to the wonderful invention of Seamless– so I cannot rate anything but the food and delivery process. I was craving some Indian food and gave this place a shot. Delivery was quick and the food arrived hot both times I’ve ordered so far. First time I had the Daal soup with Nan and the lamb vindaloo. Soup was not quite what I expected as it was VERY greasy but it was delicious and flavorful. The lamb was tender and quite spicy but good. So good that the next time I ordered I got the veggie pakora and lamb biryani. They were both good but the lamb was so spicy that I had to pace myself. Overall: filling, great taste and cheap. Can’t beat it for lunch at work! If it wasnt for the unpredictable spice level I would probably want to order everyday!

3.7 To finish later well this a whole lot different than the Swagat on Amsterdam and a whole lot better. Seems like most of the bad reviews come from people ordering curries or Chicken Tikka Masala or looking for a nicer place. To be honest: 1. The people are nice 2. The food is inexpensive, dishes range from 1.50 to 9, most expensive dishes are curries obviously outside of the couple fish dishes 2. The place is clean regardless of the rating 3. You get gigantic portions 4. The medium is hotter than the watery Chicken Curry junk Tikka Korma Vindaloo from next door from your place for 12 bucks 5. The portion is larger than said curry 6. Most dishes are vegetarian 7. The Lassi is bad and they don’t care 8. Communal water/cups 9. You get your own silverware In short, no health rating, a lot of vegetarian dishes, nothing labeled, no problems. Anyway, little place. Went here for lunch and had a Mysore Masala Dosa. For anyone who hasn’t had a Dosa it is basically a thick yet flaky bread made from lentils and rice batter(almost like a pancake but much softer wrapped around itself with a filing of some sort. It is a specialty of South Indian areas. Masala is a chickpea/potato/onlon filling and the Masala filling her is generously spiced and delicious. Mysore is a very spicy red pepper/cumin based spread. So in other words it is a large pancake stuffed with potatoes and peas with pepper around the outside. It is quite filling and quite spicy. It comes with a small stew named Sanbar(made out of peas and lentils with some spices such as pepercorns and cumin, a bit above average) and a very good coconut chutney(a lot of coconut pieces with some light spices.) It’s 5.95 for a regular Masala Dosa and 6.50 for the red stuff/Mysore. Inexpensive and quite good. I’m sold. On another note, the woman is nice but the cashier was not, but the place has good food so I wont’ care too much.
