Nice place to chill and eat some delicious Japanese pastries. I got a tuna sandwich with matcha latte. The matcha latte has a very strong matcha, don’t taste any sweetness. Pretty good!

Decently good Japanese bakery in Donwtown area. Price is slightly on the high side but its a must-try backers for people who love Asian matcha sweets like me. Amazing items that have been keeping my frequent visits are green tea(matcha) crêpe, matcha mousse, cheese cake, home-made rum chocolate ball, and warm meat sandwiches. Very friendly staff and nice and quiet seating area.

It was quite refreshing to see a Japanese bakery pop up in NYC. Japanese pastries are known to be light & airy even when there’s a ton of cream involved. I was referred to this place when someone told me of a phenomenal chestnut cake from here. A few months later, I found out that they discontinued making that particular cake. I decided to settle for their matcha cake, which contains red beans mixed with crème) instead. Having had it twice now, I can safely say that I am not as impressed the second time around. It could be perhaps that I had actual interaction with the staff my 2nd time around. I found the two male staff members to be very unfriendly; they came off as arrogant and too formal for my taste. A bakery is supposed to be more lighthearted, but those two killed it for me. When I came to pick up a cake, the first guy dismissed me to his other coworker. I asked the second person a question, and when he answered, I had a hard time hearing because of the overhead music. Naturally, I asked again. The guy had a look of annoyance, as if I had asked to get my cake for free. Bakeries are supposed to be fun, cheerful places. Instead, it was as dreadful as getting my tooth pulled. Yes, their cake is good. But it’s NOT that good.

It’s a very welcoming shop. When you first walk in, you’re already greeted with multiple showcases of food ranging from burgers, sandwiches, varieties bread, to desserts. When you leave, you are greeted by the staffs with a nice goodbye. I tried the matcha crêpe and the matcha roll cake. The matcha crêpe was wrapped in parchment paper that resembled a newspaper. The matcha crêpe was filled with cream and red bean. It was yummy. There’s a tad bit too much cream for my liking, but it was very fluffy and soft. I was able to cut the crêpe with use a plastic spoon. I like the amount of matcha flavor there was to the cream filling The matcha roll cake was a little too dry. Similar to the matcha crêpe, you could really taste the matcha flavor from the matcha roll cake.

Stepped in here on a cold winter day for matcha green tea latte and a black sesame latte. The matcha was a bit bitter for me, but my husband loved it. The black sesame was sweet and much more to my liking. Also tried a green bean paste bread which was delicious. Would come back to try the other desserts

I was extremely excited to come here and warm up with a large(tall size cup from Starbucks) matcha latte for $ 4.75 but left in disappointment. I was frozen from waiting outside Casey Neistat’s office on Broadway to hopefully meet him before heading back to Tennessee and well, that was a fail. The latte was horrible. It’s obviously not saturated with sugar like the Starbucks matcha latte but I assumed it would be still good. I had the regular milk with the assumption that would help. I felt like I was just drinking warm green colored milk. I didn’t order food here but I was tempted to. There’s a decent amount of seating and I love that there was a clear glass so we can creeply stare at the chefs. The bathroom was clean and the service was fast and friendly. I was happy I warmed up to stand outside his office again. I was hoping to get lucky like his other fans.FAILED.

The black sesame macaron is a MUST get! Super delicious, soft and flavorful! Also tried the matcha mousse cake. It had a very strong matcha taste in my opinion. Some might like that and others might not. Also got the truffle chocolate cake for a friend’s birthday and everyone loved it! It wasn’t too sweet and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! All the cakes are relatively small but can feed up to 8 people. They do make the cakes in a larger size but they need a few days advance notice. Will definitely be coming back for more macarons and cakes!

japanese bakery with sweet breads, savory breads, sandwiches, and desserts lots of 2 top tables in the back but it can get crowded around lunch time –kurogama kinoko latte(black sesame) w/almond milk: this was a limited time special latte! i was expecting a lot more flavor and didn’t get it. probably shoulda stuck to the matcha latte –marron pie: chestnut & almond paste pie. i enjoyed this little pastry wish i was hungrier and could of tried some of the breads or the green tea crêpe

Cute café with various selection of Japanese pastries — they serve gimme coffee! Here. Nice plus. There is a restroom in the back as well, but unfortunately no WiFi. The place is a good area to study or enjoy a good book — with water to fill yourself! Clean space woohoo!

I’m craving for japanese cheesecake & was looking for the right place so I came here. Got there & they ran out of cheesecake. What a bad news! ;( So I heard that they’re famous for their matcha crêpe with red bean filling & I dicided to get that. I’m not a big fan of green tea or matcha but then I still wanna try this. Its pretty good because the cream inside is sweet & the matcha taste bitter so the taste blends in. I got the milk chocolate crunch too. It taste kinda semilar to rice crispy. Lastly I got the hot white chocolate with soy milk, I like it but its just super sweet. I think less sweeter is much more better. This place have tables too if you want to seat inside. Space looks clean & cozy. For sure coming back to this place to try more stuff since its close to my workplace.

I recommend a nice, calm & relaxing bakery like this. Once I stepped into the bakery everything was clean, the music was soft with a comfortable table set. I ordered a chai Latte and it was just right :)

I had some time to kill before I ventured off to work so I decided to invite some of my friends to grab a bite to eat, and so we stumbled upon this cute little Japanese bakery. The selections of edibles ranged from pre-made salads, cookies, parfaits, cakes, and different flavors of bread and of course different hot and cold beverages. I chose the Kyoto Matcha Mousse and the Mocha Latte. The mousse cake was delicious, it wasn’t overly sweet nor was it bland. The red bean that was sprinkled on top went very well with the mousse as well as the lemon cake all the way on the bottom. The mocha latte was average. The choices of cakes to choose from were very skimpy maybe because it was a Sunday and they closed early but overall this experience was a good one. Staff was also very friendly and attentive.

This area is devoid of good food finds. So finding Takahachi Bakery in this area is a treasure. There is no other Japanese bakery in this entire area. I’ve stop by this bakery several times. I tried a few of their macaroons and had their green tea matcha cookie and another tiny round cake-like cookie that comes in bags… sorry no name on the bag. Nothing has disappointed me yet! Would I come back? Heck yes, in a heartbeat! Takahachi Bakery, here I come!

This Japanese bakery located in Tribeca serves up delicious, pricey sweets that is perfect for the Asian palate. Flavors of cake includes: cassis, green tea matcha mousse, strawberry shortcake. I ordered a green tea matcha mousse. I loved the red bean decorations on top and within the cake. The cake had a rich velvety texture with the occasional chewy sweet red bean. The cream was sweet but not too sweet and the matcha taste was just right: slight earthy, bitter taste of the matcha. My husband loved it. My hosts also loved the cake! Yes! My friend, Dennis L. highly recommended the black sesame macaron. I advise you go before 5pm. A lady came in to the bakery around 5:30pm asking for macaron and they sold out! What do I want next time? Green tea crème brûlée and matcha crêpe. And cassis noir and black sesame macron.

I was craving green tea flavored snacks and ended up at Takahachi Bakery to spoil my sweet fix. I purchased the Kyoto Matcha Mousse and the Matcha Red Bean Crêpe. Kyoto Matcha Mousse(4.5÷5) = There were bits of custard and red bean on top and I enjoyed eating this dessert even though I am not a fan of mousse! Also, I liked the presentation of this dessert; the mousse was situated atop a golden skirt plate! Matcha Red Bean Crêpe(4.5÷5) = This chewy crêpe was wrapped in an authentic styled newspaper and that was what caught my attention. This crêpe was chewy and very light tasting; I didn’t feel heavy after devouring this dessert. There is seating here and a bathroom!

Great Japanese bakery to stop by if you are in the FIDI/Tribeca area(wouldn’t make a special trip out there though.) Pastries range from about $ 3 – 5 or so .they didn’t LOOK super special off the bat, but it tasted«beautiful»(if beautiful was a taste) — ok, to word it better then — delicate and subtle — like an expensive pastry so you could definitely tell how much love went into these baked goods. I got: Green tea éclair Chestnut danish They also had a bunch of lunch items that I would probably try if I worked in the area!

So happy that this bakery is only a 15 minute walk from me! Everything here looks amazing: They have cakes, pastries, drinks, teas, lattes, and just about everything that a cozy little café should have. I tried their famous matcha crêpe today and it did not disappoint: the outside crêpe was very light and the inside was a delicious cream filling with chunks of red bean-not too sweet and thus not overwhelming! I also tried their calpico, which was delicious-love all Yakult-esque(Asian yogurt) drinks. I really liked the back area where they have some comfy, intimate seating. This would be a great place for a casual date or easily somewhere where you could catch up with a friend for a few hours. I definitely want to come back to try more items on the menu! It is a tad bit pricey though(pieces of cakes are around $ 5) but portions are pretty big and it is delicious!

I’m obsessed with everything matcha. I have probably tried all matcha desserts and drinks that New York has to offer! So when I found out about this place’s matcha crepes, I was thrilled. We walked there an hour to taste their desserts. I had the matcha crêpe and black sesame macarons. The crêpe didn’t taste like matcha at all, i tasted beans and cream. I wish they added matcha flavor to their cream, because the green tea inside the crêpe cannot be tasted. The macaron was meh. Nothing to write home about. So, even though I’m obsessed with everything japanese, this place disappointed me.

Japanese Bakery. Came here after visiting the 9⁄11 memorial and on our way to cross Brooklyn Bridge. Touristy day. The food items are all pre-made. The smoked salmon sandwich was just ok. Nothing special. The seared salmon salad was really good though! Mainly the dressing was delicious! I don’t really remember what was in it, but it was really good. I tried the green tea crêpe. Also very good! The crêpe was good, the cream and red bean filling was light and yummy. Was not heavy or anything. Would totally get this again.
