Love this place, The chef is actually cooking in the back and you can see how he’s cooking the food. I believe he was Italian and super nice. He thanked us for joining him for that night. Server was great(can’t remember his name)… We ordered bruschetta for starter and it was delicious…

Went to Tartina on a Tuesday night, the place wasn’t very crowded probably because of the amount of competitors on the block but that didn’t stop me from going in. They had a menu outside and everything seemed so delicious so being a foodie I decided to go in and give it a try. The place is small and cozy, I think a great family dinner or business lunch could be easily accommodated and it’s also a very clean and quiet place. Exactly what I was looking for! I seated near the window overlooking the crowded streets of Manhattan which I found pleasing, I love people watching in NY lol … Anyway, my starter was the«Salumeria platter» which consist of 6⁄7 different cold cuts all imported from Italy and let me tell you, great stuff! So fresh and the taste was genuine. You can def tell that it’s «off the boat» ;). For my entrée I ordered«calamarata» which is calamari shape pasta in a red sauce with mussels and calamari sautéed with olive oil, garlic and a touch of Sauvignon blanc … Amazing and so good. Hit the spot. The great part is that you pay little considering that you are in Midtown and the quantity and quality of the food is superb!!! The service was on point from start to finish and they where very friendly without being overbearing! Perfetto! Will def come back without thinking twice about it. Ciao!

I went here with some friends this past weekend and it was just OK. The place was clean, but it was incredibly quiet– you could hear a pin drop. There wasn’t even any music. We walked in and the only other people in the place was a very quiet couple. It was awkward and we felt we had to try and be quiet the whole time. The food was good & the waiter was attentive. Two of us had the gnocci, butternut squash & speck special and that was delicious– big serving. One had the muscles special(she said it was cold) and the other had a ravioli-like dish, that was quite small. I enjoyed my gnocci dish, but we all agreed we wouldn’t return.

Went on a breezy summer night — a cute small Italian place with nice brick & wood décor. The Branzino was really good but the steak was only ok. Service and wine were good though.

My sister and I visited NYC this week and we were walking around the city and came across this cute restaurant on a Wednesday night. There wasn’t anyone inside when we came. Our waiter greeted us and seated us immediately. The décor was very modern and chic. They also have a really cool bar as well. Perfect for any occasion. For appetizer, we ordered their daily specials which was an entrée, it was full of mussels in white wine sauce and with pieces of bread around the plate. It was a great way to start our dinner. For entrees, I ordered their Penne Alla San Gennarese.(No clue how to pronounce this dish so I ended up just pointing it out lol!) He also gave me extra parmesan cheese in a little bowl which i thought was kind! I enjoyed this dish very much. I liked how the veggies go well together with the pasta sauce. However, I think the pasta itself was a little hard– i prefer mine a little more softer! Overall, I would recommend this pasta– it’s very filling and also a great choice for vegetarian lovers– without the cheese! My sister ordered their Branzino entrée. We could literally smell this dish while they were making it. We knew this is going to be great and it was! This fish was smooth and juicy. I love the vinegar sauce on the side. Everything goes well for this dish. I would recommend this to any fish lovers. We were already satisfied. But I couldn’t resist trying our their desserts menu. Our waiter was kind enough to explain the desserts. He explained six different kind of desserts with great details and enthusiasm! Out of all the choices, I decided to go with Tiramisu. OMG– This was amazing! It’s very light and soft. Everything just melts in my mouth. We finished this less than 10 seconds. I’m so glad I’ve made the choice to stay for dessert! The only thing was missing– was just a glass of red wine. Oh and next time, order two plates of Tiramisu! One was clearly not enough. Overall, we both had an wonderful experience dining at Tartina. Our waiter was friendly and informative. We thanked him for a great dinner and told him we’ll be back soon!

We were walking in the neighborhood looking for a restaurant for an early dinner. The Tartina menu looked interesting, so we went in. They were very accommodating. We were up for a lighter fare. We ordered the soup of the day, which was vegetable. It was wonderful; a thick purée. We also. ordered the Bruchetta platter. it was a variety of four open sandwiches, two of each; mushroom, cheese, lox and tomato. Great tasty selections. Our third choice was Caramelle. This is a wonderful sweet pasta dish with cheese and walnuts. All in all, we had a terrific experience and will come back and try more of their unique dishes.

Went with a friend on a Saturday noon. I had the spinach and goat cheese omelette which was very generous on the spinach and eggs but seemed a little overcooked. My friend had the smoked salmon with eggs with delicious smoked salmon. We also got an extra serving(though sides don’t seem to be listed on the menu.) The brunch/lunch menu is a bit small and the food is not among best I’ve had — but, I would recommend if you are looking for a nice, cozy, relaxing place with decent food, a good price and good service. I would go back.

The food is solid and reasonably priced. The waiter is friendly and attentive. Order Bruschetta platter, calamarata pasta and Bronzino. The bruschetta is pretty good, the pasta is nice as the calamari has a taste of the sea(compared to lots of frozen calamari rings that have absolutely no taste) and complimented the sauce. The Bronzino I had was pretty good, the fish was flavorful though the vegetable medley needs a bit more flavor. Shares a tarimisu, which is just average but it’s a huge piece which need to be shared! Overall, it’s a relaxed casual place where you can get a decent meal at a decent price.

I have to start by saying Our waiter, Dmitry was wonderful. Sadly, the food wasn’t… Starting with the bread, can we say possibly a few days old? We shared the Eggplant Appetizer, which was well presented by our waiter. Unfortunately, it was piping hot on the outside but semi cold towards the middle. We were pretty hungry at this point and didn’t feel like waiting for it to be heated. Our steaks arrived shortly after and it was nothing to write home about. We were also the only customers inside the entire restaurant on an early Sunday evening. I guess we know why now.

We had two fish dishes. Both were delicious, especially the orata! Waitress was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. Atmosphere is nice and cozy and hell’s kitchen is such a lively area. Will definitely come back!

It was just ok experience. Saturday 11 am, prime brunch time this place was empty, that tells a lot. Temperature in the restaurant was in the range of high 70s, when we asked the waiter to lower the temperature, he tried to explain me thermodynamics. Just fix the AC! And cut the bullshit. Now comes food, omelette was good and my egg Benedict was good, but potatoes were bad, bad — seasoning was bad, some were not cooked well and some were too dry ie may be kept in refrigerator for long. Olive oil was good, but the baguette was not good — dry inside, not fresh.

Horrible food! The appetizer was way over priced. The calamari was tasteless and poorly put together with slices of cheaply cut oranges. For entrée I got a steak. I don’t know what cut that was but it looked really bad like it was previously frozen and looked like it was almost steamed than grilled. Had absolutely no color to it and I had to return it. My friend had a fish and that was bland too. Very disappointing

A manhattan style brunch place. Décor: simple but chic. I called to make reservations for brunch and when I walked in 30 minutes early, there was no wait and a table with a sign was waiting for me and my friends. The drinks that come with brunch were great. I had prosecco and it was just perfect! For food, I ordered the salmon and poached eggs with potatoes. My eggs were perfect but someone else at the party got over cooked eggs and when he asked to remake them, they were under cooked. It was a hit or miss. 3 out of 4 of us thought the food was just right. Service — waiters are tall and handsome with unidentifiable accents. They add extra flare to the dining experience. Bathroom — not something I usually Unilocal about… But in this case there was one tiny bathroom for the entire place and I stood in line for a good 20 minutes while one mother occupied it and let her two children in one at a time while taking long breaks to herself in between. I had to go and the wait was frustrating. I wish there was another bathroom.

The food was okay. Our server was very friendly. I don’t think a true Carbonara has cream. Not the issue I had with the restaurant, however. Due to a kitchen error, I was brought the wrong dish. It was fine. It wasn’t bad. It just was not what I ordered. I informed the server and she was very apologetic, and offered to wrap it up to-go for no charge and get me what I actually ordered. I didn’t want to seem rude, as I truly had no issue with the dish other than it not being what I ordered, so I accepted her generous offer. And then the manager approached me. He immediately was defensive, passive aggressively asking what was wrong, before telling me «we aren’t giving you that pasta to-go unless you pay for it.» He obviously believed this was some con that I had organized to scam him out of the $ 15 pasta. He was rude and assuming. If these were not his intentions, then he needs to work on his communication skills and learn to not approach a customer as though they are the enemy. My interaction with him turned me off from coming back. The cheese tray was great, though. I loved the goat cheese.

My new go-to-brunch place in the area. The food is great and actually reminds me of Italy. We had the smoked salmon and the jam omelette. The smoked salmon($ 14) is great because they actually give you a good quantity of smoked salmon! They do not skimp on it. Amazing. I love it. And the jam omelette($ 10) was delicious. It’s a mix of sweet and salty with the italian sausage adding a nice touch. It’s not for everyone but I certainly appreciated the new interesting taste. The table next to us had the prosciutto omelette, and again, they do not skimp on the prosciutto! Brunch comes with brunch cocktails, which we substituted for juice. Cappuccino is great here and goes well with the tiramisu($ 6). Prices here are very decent for brunch. I ate everything mentioned above for $ 41 + tip. I’m surprised it’s not packed, but that’s a plus for me. It’s perfect ambiance, relaxing, pleasant, and not too loud. Service is great. Alexey served us and was very attentive. Gave great recommendations. I do not give 5 stars unless the service is spectacular and he did a great job. Restroom is very clean, which means the kitchen is clean! I’m going to be back and will try their dinner because I am impressed with brunch.

I went for brunch on Saturday at around noon. It was pretty quiet. I ordered the omelette with goat cheese and spinach and my friend ordered the prosciutto. The food was just okay, nothing special. Something you could have made at home. The portion is good, not as big as other places, but I liked it because I didn’t feel stuffed afterwards. It was a decent meal but not good enough for me to come back.

I stopped in to have brunch the weekend of the food festival. I had grown tired of the diners and wanted something different. A friend recommended the salmon omelette which was great. Coffee and toast rounded out the meal. I would recommend and return

*This review is based on brunch — which was not good at all. I ordered the jam omelette with sausage and fontina cheese. I know what you’re thinking. JAM omelette? It sounds weird but for some reason, I thought it might be good. You know, that whole ‘sweet and savory’ concept. Sadly, I was mistaken. The egg was way overcooked, the sausage had this weird leftover taste(probably leftover from the night before), the home fries it came with were bland and a little mushy, and the jam came in globs. Let’s just say nothing in that omelette worked well together. The best part of the meal was probably that it came with your choice of a mimosa, bellini, or prosecco. I would come back to try their pasta, but I definitely won’t be back for brunch.

We came in this place with a groupon. We lovve the food. Its my first time trying bruschetta and it was really good. Wine was good too. My friend who came with us was born and raised in Italy and she said the bruschetta and eggplant parmigiano that we ordered reminded her of home. It was really good. The pasta was ok. We got the calamarata, lots of seafood in there but the mussels were really tiny. But tasty. We enjoyed our time there. The place is small and tables were a little small but its really cozy. And it wasn’t crowded when we came. Overall a good place to come once in a while. We left the place satisfied so yeah.
