Great spot to go to for brunch. Went on valentines day and it stayed completely filled the whole time even though it was freezing this year. The menu was prixe fix so it was a solid choice of what you want and not how much. Your meal comes with either tea, coffee or orange juice. Boyfriend and I got the corn beef hash and croque madame. Eggs were well poached and perfectly runny for both dishes. The croque madam was so cheesy and toasty! And the potatoes on the side were yum. Only warning is its cash only.

Incredible meal. I came here for dinner with a group of 5. Everything we ordered was delicious. This is one of the few places in NYC with no corkage fee and no bottle limit. Can’t wait to come back for brunch!

A cute little bistro in the midst of the west village that offers BYOB with no corking fees. Who would not like it? Went there for a dinner after grabbing a few bottles of wine from TJ’s wine shop. The wait for 3 on the Saturday night was about half an hour. We got seated inside. It feels a little cozy since there’s just enough path to walk, but hey, I heard the food was good. We’ll see. We started with 3 appetizers including House Salad, Escargots and Yellowfin Tuna Tartare. First bottle of wine was gone by the time they came out. The salad dressing was great. I was happy with escargots since I’ve been craving for them forever. To save some room for desserts, we only ordered two main courses to share among three of us. Spicy Chicken with Fries and Guacamole was amazing. Steamed PEI mussels were not bad at all. We all enjoyed our conversations and food here. Of course, the best way to end out dinner is desserts. Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Mousse were spot on! It’s a little hustle to ask for the corkscrew, but the waiter came around eventually. Will be back again for sure!

Disgusting, I don’t understand what the hype is about. They got me 2 really cold eggs and when I complained they got me 3 more super cold eggs. Never going there again.

This place is adorable. It was my first time in the West Village and it was a perfect introduction. It echoed the neighborhood vibe that was going on around and had a great aesthetic. My friends and I waited for about 20 minutes for a table– there aren’t many inside as it is a small restaurant. It is VERY cramped and if you want to get up to use the bathroom, good luck– you’ll have to ask people at other tables to move. The menu is a little limited– but the food is worth the confinement. I ordered an omelette with potatoes and it was yummy, except there were some extra toppings in there that I didn’t order– but it was still great. The coffee was not special at all, but the orange juice was amazing. Overall, it is very cozy and a good brunch spot.

Brunch is one of my favorite meals whether it’s on a weekend or weekday. Sometimes it’s hard to find a restaurant that has a brunch menu during Monday– Friday but Tartine offers it from 9am-12pm. Tartine isn’t your typical«fancy brunch» spot. It’s quite small and has a home-like atmosphere to it. It was a nice change from a lot of other city restaurants I’ve been to that are always bustling with noise and super busy. I came here on a Thursday morning around 11:30 and it was pretty empty. It’s nice when you get seated right away. Their brunch menu has about 15 different options, but I chose to go with the corned beef hash. It’s served hot and sizzling on a skillet and remains that way throughout the whole time you’re eating it. The yolk of the two eggs on top of the dish were cooked even more because of this! I really liked the way it was presented and it was delicious as well. In terms of pricing, I guess it’s average for a city meal but it would’ve been nice if their entrees came with a complimentary drink like a cup of orange juice or coffee. A lot of other brunch places offer this. Overall, I was very satisfied with the meal, but service could use a bit of improvement. My water wasn’t refilled until the very end when the check was brought to the table. The waitress did decide to give us a whole bottle so we could refill the cups ourselves but why not do this earlier like when you bring out the food? Lol Tip: cash only so make sure to stop by the ATM before coming here!

I’ve found another place to add to my list of weekday brunch spots! For people who enjoy a late breakfast/early lunch, Tartine offers breakfast/brunch from 9am to 12pm. I came here with my cousin a little past 11am on a Thursday and there was just one other party of three, so we were able to pick where to sit. The restaurant is a pretty small, with seating for about twenty people, and you could very well bump elbows with the people sitting next to you at the window. My cousin and I both ordered the corned beef hash($ 15). It’s made with double smoked Berkshire bacon and green onions and comes with two poached eggs with Sriracha Hollandaise sauce. It’s presented piping hot on a skillet and the meal was hot throughout– enough to nearly cook the insides of the poached eggs. There was a perfect amount of spice to the corned beef and the Sriracha Hollandaise was a nice twist. Highly recommend! Small downside: the service was a bit lackadaisical. It’s hard to get the attention of a waitress who isn’t really looking at her customers. We didn’t get a refill on our water until the end of the meal. Although a bit more on the pricey side for fairly typical brunch fare, Tartine is still a quaint place tucked inside the West Village. I would return for the corned beef hash and to give some of their other items a try!

This was my second trip the staff recognized me and were great. I’m extremely happy with the staff and they did their best to please. The food is excellent. The quarters cramped but relaxed. Conversation easily flows from table to table. I really enjoy their food. I have never had desert there. Because I can easily pick any place to eat. This is definitely top on my list.

BYOB so you can spend more on the delicious food. Teeny tiny which I loved, and on a Friday night walking in at 8:45 we didn’t have to wait too long surprisingly. Came here with a girlfriend and ordered the French onion soup to share and then the salmon with snap pees, Brussel sprout leaves and a mushroom sauce. Finished the evening with the chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream. Everything was perfect, but remember it’s cash only. Felt like I was back in France. Highly recommend it.

This place is SMALL but they certainly deliver in a BIG way. The dishes are creative and delicious. We came here for a late brunch on Saturday. The wait was about 30 mins, but very worth it. Went with the $ 18 brunch meal(main dish, coffee or tea, and OJ). I got the apple pancake and the young lady got the corn beef hash. Mmm Mmm Mmm, we loved both of the dishes. The corn beef hash is presented in an iron skillet and the usual take on the dish. But the apple pancake is nothing like I’ve ever had. It was more of an apple omelet with fresh apples, cool stuff. Coffee, OJ, and service were also good. They have some beautiful looking baked goods, but didn’t have a any room left for that.

really wanted to enjoy my experience here but unfortunately the food was only okay. located in a really quaint neighborhood. upon entering, it may seem a bit claustrophobic(esp. if full house; thankfully not) but I found it intimate and charming. staff was great– coffee and water always filled. had the beef hash– good portion and super sizzling hot& tasty but definitely wayyy too salty and seasoned. found myself downing my glass of water. bf had the eggs benedict and it was COLD and a bit bland. sorry but why??? for a $ 50 brunch, you would expect the quality of the food to be a little better. too inconsistent– overall, would pass if in the area but wasn’t horrible

We’ve been @ Tartine over several years about 6 to 8 times a year. Food and atmosphere were always enjoyable. Two weeks ago we’ve experienced the biggest disappointment though. The steak was overcooked and the sides were cold. This can happen. But the Waitress(no Manager around) was sitting on another table talking to a guy basically the whole time we were there. Didn’t come over once to check on us. Instead the table service was provided by the bus boy. Sad to see that this place is going down the drains… Go to a place where they still value you as a guest — there are plenty around the neighborhood.

This place had its ups and downs for me. The décor to me needs work. Very small space with too many tables. Ordered the tomato soup which was delish then had the Bouchee a la reine which was just okay. Not sure what the excitement about it is but I probably won’t be ordering it again. The side salad that came with it was more enjoyable to eat.

We’ve been on a brunch kick of late. This place is very small and very French, but in this specific case, I think it’s a good thing. We went early(no wait) and had the croque monsieur and the chicken paillard along with a side of a really wonderful sausage. The sandwich was probably the best version I’ve had outside of Paris and the chicken paillard, while not special, was pretty dog-on good. The ambiance of this place is actually accentuated by its, ahem, coziness. Nothing better than exchanging a friendly greeting and having a cordial conversation with the next table(who were actually sitting closer to me than my breakfast companion) about what we were having for breakfast and how everything smelled so good. It sounds corny but for a brief moment it reminded me that we really are all in this thing together. But I digress… The staff are nice and friendly here and the prix fixe brunch menu is a great invention. Highly recommended…

Extremely claustrophobic. While we were eating customers were constantly reaching/shouting over our table to talk to the host. Long line = cut throat New Yorkers. One girl waiting outside was consistently peering into the window checking to see how much French Toast was left on my plate. It was ridiculous. Needless to say while the food wasn’t bad,(though for $ 18 a plate I expected better) it was not a comfortable or relaxing brunch experience in the least. If you’re going to wait in line for west village brunch there are many other spots far more relaxed! Or at least spots where I can actually squeeze my 119 pound self in between tables to reach the rest room. This was not one of them. Between the lack of space and cutthroat girl freezing outside staring at me, I decided against peeing. I probably won’t come back for brunch. **searches for bathroom to pee**

We have only waited for 10 minutes before our waiter told us to come inside and sit — such a sweet surprise as my average waiting time for brunch is roughly one hour. More than happy to be seated early! This place indeed was small, and was cash only; however you could bring your own bottle and the price level was quite low compared with its neighbor — with a brunch prex fixe at 18 dollars, plus a free glass of OJ. I opted for the famous corn beef hash and my friend got the egg Benedict. Th bacon was so crispy and hash absorbed the flavor completely. Lastly, we shared the apple tart with vanilla ice cream on top. It was a decent place; however did not impress us in a significant way. Given the crowdness and price level, I probably would pay another visit.

I had heard great things about Tartine but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype I had heard. There were definitely some positives but overall I’ve had better brunch in the city for way less(and better service). Upon being seated, we received complimentary glasses of orange juice which I thought was a nice touch. They were only serving their pre-fixe brunch so you couldn’t order items a la carte, which was a little strange. They brought out the wrong beverage and food order 3 times over the course of our meal. Each time they were apologetic, which we appreciated but 3 times? The omelette I ordered(and eventually was served) was pretty good but certainly not worth $ 18. There are better places in the city for either the same quality but cheaper or better quality and the same price. Overall, it’s unlikely I’ll stop by Tartine again but maybe my brunch there was an outlier compared to what others have experienced?

Food & Drink I had the omelette with ham, spinach, mushrooms and a side of hollandaise, my version of not eating a full on eggs benedict with the muffins. You would be surprised how satisfying dipping some bites in the hollandaise is. Suffice to say, the omelette was perfectly done, fluffy, buttery but not too buttery, and moist. The side salad it came with to my surprise was quite yummy, and pretty large. Lastly, the coffee was on point, sometimes you step into these nice cafes with perfectly good food, and then their coffee is just a big let down — not this place — a solid cup at the right tempature too. Atmosphere It is a small quaint café, with an authentic homey feel to it. I felt at ease immediately walking in. It is like a homey french version of a diner, but nicer. Sorta hard to explain. Service Perfect. The hostess /server was friendly, warm, attentive, and quick. It is cool they dress casual, and I imagine as themselves, she was in a skater sorta outfit with a backwards cap!

It’s a «cute» place with a locals only vibe. The experience was a lot like eating at my Grandma’s in France, and I don’t particularly like my Grandma. The service was a bit pushy, and the food was simple. One and done.

Seems like I will be the first to give gool ol’ ‘Tartine’ a less-than-perfect review. I’ve been here several times and always enjoyed it, but probably the place is starting to believe it’s too much and putting little effort in their ways and quality. First of all, the $ 20 dollar minimum policy is a joke. I will eat $ 21,$ 25, $ 30, $ 48 without a problem, but to be instructed to at least consume $ 20 is just tacky. Also let’s clarify it’s a weekday and very early evening. A few tables outside were taken and the inside is completely empty. I don’t see the problem in ordering what I would enjoy, but instead being«gently» forced to over order to satisfy their minimum. The waitress is in a rush to see one get to number 20. She will make sure you do. I ended up ordering stuff to go so I could be left alone. Of course I ordered above my minimum. They also add the gratuity which by now I’m honestly offended by. Also, they made a mistake on my check, which I find truly ironic at the end of the day since I’m being pressured into ordering an exact amount, yet the staff is careless in putting the same precision upon themselves. I have no complaints about the food. The salads are delicious, generous, well-served, and the dressing is divine. A casual weekday dinner honestly turned into a meal with a side of pressure, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth and not wanting to come back again.

I have loved Tartine for several years now. It’s actually probably my favorite brunch place in the city. Why? The eggs benedict is amazing. The breakfast potatoes are delicious, crispy, salty, mmmmm… The service is always friendly and efficient. The location is small and cozy and they have outside seating which is awesome in the summer. It is BYOB which is awesome for dinner.(I have never tried the do it yourself mimosas for breakfast, but it sounds like a great idea). The prices are probably a bit too high, but this is NY. It is definitely a spot to which I take out of town guests, and all have enjoyed this little gem as much as I do! Would be a great place to take a date for dinner or brunch. The only caveat being that they don’t take reservations and the wait can be kinda long during peak times… The good thing is there are a bunch of other good restaurants in the area if you are flexible!

Such a little gem in the West Village! It is a bit cramped inside, so expect a little wait during prime brunch time. I always order the Eggs Norwegian, while my husband loves their Corned Beef Hash. Don’t forget it’s BYOB– so bring some champagne and enjoy some mimosas :)

The most attractive thing about this restaurant is the BYO aspect. Bought some champagne and poured it into our orange juices for our own mimosa creations!(Note that they charge you for orange juice refills.) It’s a great spot to people watch in West Village, but my friend and I got the Scottish Salmon and the Eggs Benedict and neither dish was anything spectacular.

The best BYO place I’ve been to in the city! Usually the food quality takes a dive at BYO, but Tartine was definitely an exception. Sitting outside, enjoying some wine and pasta and chicken, is not a bad way to spend an early dinner. We got the gnocchi and some chicken, and both were well above average. I’d especially recommend the gnocchi, which they are more than happy to help you pronounce. Not everyone in the world can be 5 stars, but these guys deserve every bit of 4 stars, before even factoring in the atmosphere(a quiet tree lined street, outdoor seating) and the ATMOSPHERE(I don’t know why I got excited, just that they let you bring your own wine/beer!) Worth a stop by, especially if you’re in the mood for a BYO dinner.

French food + BYOB wine = fantastic. Life could not get any better. The theme of my summer outings has been to try out nyc restaurants that are byob. From the Unilocal reviews, it seemed like this place was more of a brunch spot rather than a dinner spot. Nonetheless, I gave Tartine a try for dinner. First of all, they do not seat you until you have your whole party there. I can understand why because the restaurant is small and cozy. It would be difficult to go in a large group unless you go early or later in the day. Most of the entrees were moderately priced in the mid-20s price range. I ordered the steak au poivres and my friend had the scottish salmon. If you were looking to be healthy, the salmon would have been a good choice. If you were me, and loved red meat, the steak au poivres would have been a good choice. They also had other steak options to choose from. I am sure there were other entrees, but my eyes naturally gravitated to the steak section. A great meal yet again in a BYOB restaurant.

3.5 stars. I came here for Sunday brunch with two friends, and we all ended up ordering the salmon eggs Benedict. My two friends really enjoyed the dish, but for some reason, it fell a bit flat for me. It was good, but nothing particularly astounding, and I guess I was expecting more after waiting in line for so long. Perhaps, one of the greater appeals is that the restaurant is BYOB. The outside of the restaurant is cute and tucked away in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. The inside however felt a bit cramped. I was seated literally right next to the baked goods and had no space to put my bag. It would have been nice to get window seating. Also, note that it’s cash only!

Tartine Overall, 3.5 stars Two friends and I came in on a Tuesday for lunch/brunch? From the outside, it looks like a cute and cozy French café on the corner. The inside gives you a more diner feel. It’s a bit cramped inside, so I can see how they can get crowded easily. Definitely not a good place for larger groups! What we ate: — Croque Madame($ 15): I’m a fan! The cheese was melted nicely and the ham was juicy. The bread and beschamel gave it just the right crunch. The mixed green salad on the side allows you to get some freshness to change up your palate. My sandwich looked tiny compared to the size of the salad, but it was just enough to satisfy me. — Corned Beef Hash: Presented in a skilled with a poached egg and sriracha hollandaise, it looked delicious! It was good, but not my favorite. I actually wish there were more potatoes in it! — Escargot: I didn’t try this, but I appreciate that it was on the menu. My friend enjoyed it, though! — Thyme Roasted Salad on Ciabatta($ 15): This also came with mixed greens. The roasted tomatoes gave it a great flavor and the salmon was cooked well. Service was good — she was attentive and able to answer any questions we had at the menu. Didn’t even mind coming back again when we couldn’t make up our minds. Downside — CASHONLY& a minimum of $ 15 per person. It’s easy to get to that amount with these prices, though. I don’t know that I’d come back again, but it’s worth a try at least once.

Despite the fact that this place is CASHONLY(how? Ugh), the food is not to be missed. I had the fancy french version of chicken pot pie, which came with a salad. Hearty, delicious and the ingredients tasted fresh. The dining area is tiny, so I would get there early on a weekend because it fills up fast. Would also be a great spot for coffee/pastries(they’ve got a refrigerated case brimming with goodies). Decent service and the food comes out fast. Make sure you give Unilocal a glance, like I didn’t, to prepare yourself with cash and avoid being slapped with a $ 3ATM fee.

DAng. These eggs. THOSE eggs. The restaurant itself is really small and only seats probably two handfuls of people. We had to wait a while with a part of 4 and once seated, you’ll be really cramped, but it is all about the food anyway. I ordered the corned beef hash and it was AMAZING. The sriracha hollandaise was so good I almost died. Never had anything like it. The sauce isn’t that overpowering; it had the right amount of kick. Maybe it’s my obsession with eggs, but I felt like there were a lot of corned beef… according to what you like more, it really is a bang for your buck — even though it was kinda pricey!!! The dish itself is $ 14. Although really filling, it is small — I did feel my wallet was a bit empty afterwards, so for me personally it was a splurge. How often do you eat corned beef with 2 nicely cooked eggs out of a small pan in a french restaurant sitting REALLY close to each other? Not often, so come here and try it out. You can bring your own bottle of wine and it is CASH only!
