Tawkify

I had never worked with a matchmaking service before, but Tawkify sought me out and curated an amazing date with a beautiful and delightful woman.
A lot of care went into making the match. I spoke on the phone with two different matchmakers, the first to set up my profile and the second to interview me to see if I might be a good match for her client. Although I did not realize it at the time, the second matchmaker (Sierra) was also learning about what venue would make a good date for us. She chose for us a place (called THE ROOM) I never would have considered for a first date, but which was an amazing experience to share with a potential match.
I feel really good about my chances working with Tawkify. They are serious about getting to know me and what I am looking for, and already I trust them as much as some close friends to set me up.

Dating with soul! These folks ask questions, and you orient them on your preferences. One «matchmaker» (they really are though) sets you up with a calculated match. You go out on a «curated» date (they tell you where you will meet, etc…) You do not see a foto of the person. You get a vague idea of what makes up this mystery person’s world. All you really know is that you were clear about what you do and do not want. These folks really take the tech out of the search. It’s really surprising how they can do it: $ 10 a month to do all of this legwork in sifting through the right matches… They asked me to write this review. So here it is: Amazing people, amazing effort, amazing concept!

So, sponsored ad popped up in FB the other day re this service. I clicked on it, read about it, and thought I might be interested in learning more. So, I completed a short questionnaire, and set up my profile.
The next day, I receive a phone call from someone from Tawkify at about 215pm, just as I’m getting ready to get to a meeting. I kindly inform the caller that I had specified that the best time to reach me was between 4−5pm, and she just kept talking over me and going on and on about the service. She eventually explained that they don’t really look at the information submitted online. — STRIKE 1 —
She then launches into what I can only compare to a high pressured pitch, about how exclusive they are in selecting the clients they represent. — STRIKE 2 —
As I’m trying to get to my meeting, I ask her for information re exactly what their qualifications are to deliver their services in the greater Boston area are, and she tells me that San Francisco is their #1 market, followed by New York, and then Boston. As I inquire further, she explains that the only have one actual matchmaker «on the ground» in Boston, and she is booked through 2017, so they would actually manage their services out of New York City. — STRIKE 3 —
When I press her on how someone from NYC would be able to help me remotely, she went on to discuss how wonderful the Internet is, and how they would make the best use of all sorts of online dating services and databases in an attempt to match me. When I asked her if that made sense, since I’m likely on them already, she asserted that this is how they do this everywhere, but since it was being coordinated from NYC, they would be able to offer me a very special price, but she needed me to commit immediately, since she would have to get my application reviewed and approved, as they only work with very exclusive clients. Again, high pressure, high pressure, high pressure. Buy now, Now, NOW! — STRIKE 4 —
When I finally managed to get her to let me go, as I was about to walk into a meeting, she offered to email me all sorts of information, including exclusive pricing. After giving her my email, she hung up.
Later that afternoon, I receive an email from her, referencing the attached price list. No price list was attached. — STRIKE 5 —
I emailed her back, and she followed up with a price list. Hey, guess what? The special pricing she sent me is the same as what is posted on the Tawkify website. WOW. Ain’t that special?!? Just for me?!? — STRIKE 6 —
Hey, *6* STRIKES ?!?
It was rather obvious that they aren’t serious about saving anyone time. If they can’t even provide quality control in their standardized calling routines, I don’t see why I would bother hiring them to get me a quality date. Especially, when all they would REMOTELY do is scour the same dating sites I’m on. And BTW, to the Tawkify co-​founder that keeps replying to these posts: While you may find your acerbic sarcasm charming, it is really quire offensive and unprofessional. I can clearly see where your staff’s professionalism mannerisms come from. Good luck with your next round of funding. I think I would rather drop 10K in a local Yenta that really knows what she is doing, and that I know would actually be looking to introduce the right quality date to me.
Of course, there is always the possibility someone on Tawkify will find me a real winner on ManHunt!

I’ve had a good experience with Tawkify– my contact Alison is great with followup

(1) I had an excellent experience with Tawkify and though I would have put in a review regardless, I think it is especially important to submit my review because of a few of the reviews that I have read that I believe are unfair /​misguided.
This is how I understand the service, followed by my «review»:
(2) As a service, Tawkify «curates» dates for their clients.
This might be because their clients have gotten tired of the «conventional» online dating services that require sifting through hundreds if not thousands of «profiles», most of whom you must take on face until you speak to them yourself, or text, or meet, or whatever.
In place of this time consuming and very hit-​or-​miss process, Tawkify offers to curate dates for you (curate is my term, I do not believe this is the term they use).
I guess that it should be unsurprising that at least in the NYC area, there are many more women who might turn to this service than there are men.
(3) As is the case with quite a few of the male reviewers here, I was indeed «found» on an online dating service by one of Tawkifier’s match-​makers.
I presume that based on my profile (objective as well as subjective), she might have thought that I might be a good prospect for one of Tawkfier’s clients.
I was offered two «free dates», and was pleased to participate.
I was then contacted by the «match maker» who had a particular client she was looking for matches for.
This match maker’s name is Carena, and the reason I am being specific is because some of the harsh criticisms I saw in prior reviews.
Carena was *excellent*. She spent about an hour and a half on the telephone getting to know me, including my likes /​dislikes, preferences. There was no area she did not touch, including frankly «physical» preferences which it is politically incorrect to harp on.
But I was very clear on my «physical preferences», and she was non plussed and I believe viewed it as an important criterion when she was trying to find suitable matches for her client. (If her client is «not my type», what is the point of her introducing me to her client. And, of course, vice versa.)

(4) Bottom line, Carena did indeed set up a date for her client and me.
I enjoyed the date very much, and both in terms of compatibility and affinity as well as physical (age, body type, etc.), I thought Carena was spot on, at least from my point of view (but of course I am not her client, the woman she set us up on a date for was.
(I kind of feel this is a little like real estate, where you have a buyer’s and a seller’s broker, ha ha.)
We had a great deal in common, the things we care about, the things we do, etc.
This was NOT a ridiculous date /​ridiculous match that was done just to meet whatever obligation Carena had to her client.
(For you guys out there, my date was absolutely stunning /​beautiful, too.)
I thought that my date (Carena’s client) also enjoyed the date, and though of course I cannot speak for her, I would imagine that she would think that Carena was in the ball park, if not spot on.
As it turns out, her client was not interested in seeing me again, and I got feedback as to why (apparently, I was «too shy» for her; whereas, indeed, I thought that she was just a bit «too ‘assertive’ «for me.) But if she had been interested in seeing me again, I would have wanted to see her again for sure.
(5) Bottom line in terms of the curated dates service provided by Tawkify:
At least from MY experience, Carena did a great job and I think set up a quality date for her client … even if it was a «miss».
I am well aware of the nightmare stories that people have had to tell about other similar services.
But at least from MY experience … which is the only thing I can review … this was a GREAT experience and a GREAT service.
So I hope you do not get put off by some of the (really!) negative reviews here and give it a shot yourself …
IF you are looking for what they are offering:
«Curated» dates so you don’t have to waste all that precious time sifting through hundreds or thousands of online profiles.
I do hope that Carena or another of the matchmakers finds that I am a suitable match for at least one more of Tawkify’s clients!

I gave this company three tries, and it got worse with each time. Do NOT waste your time with this company. In fact RUN if they contact you.

I received a premium package for three months as a gift from my mom and grandma! I wish I told them to save their money.
In my experience as a paying client, the matchmakers initially seemed caring and truly interested in setting you up with quality matches! Unfortunately, as time went on, it became evident to me that wasn’t the case. My two matchmakers were not exactly professional and they did not listen to what I said I was looking for. If they did listen, they either ignored me or did not care. ⁰⁄₈ matches resulted in mutual interest for a second date, which is a pretty bad success rate for a professional matchmaking service.
I would not recommend Carena or Catherine. I also clearly would not recommend Tawkify! You’d very likely have better success on any of the dating websites out there if you put minimal time and effort into it… I know I have. I redeemed the ‘Tawkify guarantee’ which was a Groupon for a massage at a place they picked, without asking if it was convenient for me.
To echo other reviews on here: Nice idea, but a pretty terrible execution. Overpriced for the level of service you get. I suspect that a lot of the positive reviews on here are fake. Avoid.

The matchmakers initially seem smart, lovely and highly invested in your success, but they just don’t seem capable of identifying or recruiting suitable matches. You can easily do better on your own using dating apps.
Remember, going on bad blind dates is made even worse when you have no control over the date, and no real information beyond first name, age and profession heading into it.
They also pick obvious and crowded places to meet.
Tawkify is a nice idea, but in the end you’re paying for worse dates than you could set up yourself.

Stay away from Tawkify. I was just set up with someone completely not my type. What a waste of both of our times!

This is a late review. E. Jean Carroll called me and asked me to take down my first review as they set me up on an additional date. It is basically a bait and switch operation. The young girls troll online dating sites then get them to go out with their paying clients (primarily women).
Maybe you could meet someone this way but the probably is extremely low.

This review is coming from a non-​paying male member who was recruited to go on dates with paying female members. The first matchmaker who contacted me found me on OKCupid, which is I guess her job — to find men for the paying clients of Tawkify. The first matchmaker was thorough in her interview process of me and seemed genuinely interested in making a good match for her client, and the date I went on through her was good though nothing came of it.
The second matchmaker that contacted was not near so thorough, and though she did call me it seemed more a formality than an attempt to see if I was a good match for her client, which I was not. So my second date through the second matchmaker was not good and we had very little in common — it was one of the worst dates I have ever been on.
The third Tawkify matchmaker that contacted me did not even bother to call or find out any information about me, was hard to get in touch with via email — not answering emails or texts, and simply providing me with a short emailed description of my potential date. I turned the date down, not wanting to waste my time or that of my potential date. At least it did not cost me money, but I felt bad for whomever my potential date was to be paying for such an unbelievably lazy matchmaker. This third matchmaker wasn’t even going through the motions — she was clearly trying to do the least work possible to satisfy her client and get her a date — about as far from the matchmaker image Tawkify is trying to sell where matchmakers take a deep personal interest in getting to know clients and their potential dates. This matchmaker did *zero* to find out anything about me. Zero.
So my message to any women thinking about paying for Tawkify is to think twice as the services they are advertising can be a far far cry from what you will really get, which in the case of the second matchmaker was very little, and in the case of third absolutely nothing. You can do better with online dating sites where at least you will know someone is trying to find a good match for you — that someone being you.

I’ve never done a dating sight quite like Tawkify. They have matchmakers that take the time to listen to what you are looking for and really want out of an experience. I know with kara as a matchmaker, there are going to be a lot of satisfied people out there. I know I am!

Alene is a quick witted minx! Don’t know how she does it… but I lucked out on the first try. She was super cool and easy to talk to. Very happy with the outcome.

I’m not completely sure what sort of blood magic/​witchcraft they use… but it certainly does work! Alene was a total doll to deal with, and she set me up first try with a wonderful young lady that I have so much in common with!
Perhaps we will name our first child after Alene… ok…maybe the next cat!

I highly recommend this service. Nicole my matchmaker is very personable & attentive. This beats on line dating & you meet a better class of people.

This service is a complete scam. Not only did they take my money but they wasted hours and hours of my time. I was set up on dates with people that were so far outside of my description that you would think my matchmaker was just throwing darts at the profile pics back at the office. Don’t get ripped off!

Tried this service for three months and am a bit late in this review, but here goes.
The good:
Was a time saver as I didn’t have to do much here but have a conversation with my matchmaker, tell her what I was looking for and then show up and look pretty. Sounds easy, right?
My matchmaker was thoughtful, but not as attentive as I thought she should be; however, she did seem sincere and enthusiastic.
Independently speaking, the men she set me up with were decent guys (although not necessarily what I was looking for once you get past the basic criteria). They were all gainfully employed, professional, felony free, drug free (well, except one who lit up a doobie (saying he just needed a little to get through the night) and then asked me if I wanted a hit), athletic (or at least looked the part), tall, fairly decent social skills, etc.
The bad:
Although the men were decent guys, it was clear after speaking with them for a few that they were «recruited» pretty aggressively from some dating site, and while they may have seemingly fit into what I was looking for on paper (putting aside the physical appearances right now and personalities), I, from a basic standpoint, wasn’t what they were looking for. Just by way of example, feedback after a couple of dates being that I wasn’t Jewish or I was too old (being 39 at the time). These are fundamental issues that could have been addressed before I wasted my time. It’s pretty clear that they struggle to match women up with at least two dates per month as promised and the focus is on quantity as opposed to the quality of the matches. I may have my numbers wrong, but I think of the 6 men I went out with, only one was a paying member and the others had been found online. Also, I kind of felt like if they were just recruiting men from dating sites, what am I paying for? I know how to use those search parameters as well and come up with men who meet the criteria but aren’t all that serious about making a connection with someone. In fact, one of the men I went out with was someone I had met on a dating site about a year before I joined tawkify.
The dates weren’t all that interesting. Generally, wine bar, wine bar, wine bar… Big city, lots to do and I was expecting a little more creativity.
Although the premise is to have a truly «blind» date; I had repeated requests for pictures, which my matchmaker entertained. Again, was just another indication to me that some of the men they had chosen weren’t buying this whole tawkify thing and definitely weren’t taking it seriously.
The Ugly–
Expensive and in my opinion, not worth the price.
My matchmaker didn’t actually meet all my dates in person, although when we first spoke, she made it clear that she was all about meeting everyone in person and feeding off their energy to make her matches. She doesn’t really seem be in a position to effectively match me up with someone based on a ten minute phone call with them.
Felt as though I had to chase down my matchmaker after a date to get feedback or find out what was going on. In most instances, there was no feedback.
Ultimate conclusion — nice idea, poor execution.

I completely agree with all the negative reviews. Like another male reviewer, I was «recruited» by a woman in her 20s who found me on LinkedIn. Then they begin to «play» you, and I mean manipulate you to prepare you to be victimized by trying to set you up with a total loser you want nothing to do with. How do they do it? Get this: one of the cute «matchmakers», all of whom work part time (I like this job because I have lots of time to read, said mine), my hot 20-​something did a Skype video with me and spent more than an hour coming on to me. When she got around to pitching my «date», she opened with «Do you like blondes?» I thought «Is this a used car lot?» She then described somebody I wouldn’t date if I was lost in space. Soon after she told me I was so great she wanted me to meet her mom and she showed me her mom on her iPhone. Then, if you can believe this, she made a coffee date with me for two days later. Which she promptly forgot.
This entire operation reeks of the possibility of fraud. For the people who pay, which wasn’t me, they think they’re going to meet the most exclusive people in existence. In fact, as another 20-​something loser matchmaker put it, «I stumbled across your profile». I hope she didn’t need an ambulance. This business needs a hard look by the New York State Attorney General.

Someone from Tawkify reached out to me to set me up with some of their paying clients (i.e., I was not paying). I was open-​minded, figuring that professional matchmakers would be far superior to me roaming the city randomly, meeting people at bars, etc.
Based on my experience, I now believe that literally going on a date with a random person at a random bar would on average be drastically superior to going on a date with someone Tawkify set me up with.
My first date was in the bottom 10% of dates I’ve ever been on in terms of fit, but the overall experience wasn’t totally horrendous. I thought maybe my matchmaker needed to better calibrate, so I gave a lot of concrete feedback. She set me up with another person, saying that she thought — based on my feedback — that this person would be a much better fit. Unfortunately, this person was an absolutely terrible fit and the experience was actually the worst date I have ever been on. In fact, it seemed like my matchmaker had heard my feedback and decided that I meant the opposite of what I said.
Really, I’m guessing one of two things happened: (1) She just had a paying customer who she wanted to set up on a date and she completely ignored whether I would get along with said person; (2) She thought she was implementing my feedback and that I would get along with the person — in which case, she’s just very very bad at matchmaking.
In any event, I deeply regret the time I spent interacting with Tawkify and going on these dates. So I’m writing this review to protect other open-​minded individuals from having the same experience I had.

I was very disappointed with this service and recommend that you save your money
Instead take up a fun activity you love or volunteer to meet someone.
There is something about this service that isn’t kosher and I suspect that they pay people to go out with you or something of that nature.
I found the matchmakers insincere, busy, and must make a good commission by getting you to sign up. I do not recommend Tess, Jules or Boon.
