Took my PMP course here. Andrew and Mike are both great instructors. They’re teaching styles are different but both offer great material to prep for PMP exam. Either way, just follow their instructions and you will pass the exam.

I took the Security + training with Michael Rhodon and it was a great class. Micheal is awesome instructor that knows his material and was able to break it down so you can get the full picture of the Security + program. With Micheal’s vast knowledge of computer security you will not fail your certification test. I will definitely take another class at TIA NYC and with Micheal.

Took the A+ 4 day course a month ago. The instructor G. Valz was very helpful and informative. I had previously tried passing the tests on my own to no avail. After taking the course I passed the two tests on the first try. Definitely worth it for me.

I did the PMP Course and passed on my first try. Andrew did an amazing job of drilling us with the material and the overall course experience at TIA was great.

I took a quick books class that was awesome! I learned so much, the teacher was super helpful and made sure we all were on the same page and understood everything he was saying. I would absolutely recommend this institute to anyone and I defiantly want to take more classes there!

I came here to take my SQL server exam (70 – 461)… While the location is convenient and the staff is friendly, I had to wait over 30 mins to take my exam although I came on time… The room was crazy small with no windows… Luckily it wasn’t really hot… If you don’t care about presentation, then this place isn’t a problem, but if you would like newer computer and spacier cubes, I would recommend somewhere else…

The Technical Institute of America is outstanding! I attended their PMP certification course and it was my first time learning most of the material. They did an amazing job helping us understand the material from a conceptual point of view and to be able to visualize the project management process. They kept all the students engaged and interested, and we learned a lot! When I passed my PMP exam I called TIA and they seemed super excited for me! They seem to really care about their students. I’ll be taking the MS Project class next. Thanks again.

I took the Microsoft Excel Basic class 1 day for 7-​hours (10a-​6p) class. Andrew was very knowledgable, clear && most of all DETAILED! If you did not understand or missed a step he had no problem stopping or breaking it more down for you without slowing the class down. Also very open to questions and concerns. I look forward to taking more classes at TIA. Overall experience from the front desk to the class GREAT!

Came here to take a NYSTCE exam and Michelle at the front desk is super friendly. My only regret is not choosing this location before for previous exams I’ve taken. Michelle by far is the sweetest, if not the only nice person I’ve come across when having to take any NYSTCE exam. I will definitely come here only for future exams. No attitudes here and nice clean setting!

I signed up for a CNA class that was offered at this school. A week before the class was supposed to start, an email was sent saying that the class is delayed to a month due to low registration. Dates did not work for me so I asked for a full refund. I was told it would take 14 days or less. I emailed them on the 13^th day from the time frame they gave me, they apologize for the delay and told me that today Friday (which is after the 14 day time frame they gave me) I will get my refund confirmation email, then 2 – 3 business days after that I can see it on my card.
Right now, it’s Friday afternoon. I am still waiting on that email. Still waiting for that refund that I had asked on June.
I will update this review when I get my refund, until then I suggest you stay away from this school. They’re so quick to charge and take your money, but when you ask for a refund they take forever to do so.
PS– on their website it stated something like «even if one person registers for a class, the class will still go on.» Totally a lie. My friend registered for the same section I canceled on because of the new dates, and she told me that she received an email saying class is canceled due to low registration.
UPDATE: Got my refund back, later than my friend who asked for a refund (which she asked two weeks later than I did. They apologized for the delay… but still.)
Giving them a star for not neglecting my constant emails & someone did try to reach me to help me with my issues. So kudos to that. I’m sure this school has done some good in other courses.

Juan was an awesome tutor for Network+ and CCNA. He provided all the necessary resources to expedite self-​study and covered an extensive amount of material in the week at an excellent pace.
I plan to sign up for more courses here soon.
My tutor for A+ is the reason for the missing star — he was less than organized and covered unnecessary material, always taking up the entire day without covering much material.

My Job needed me to get certified in Project Management and ITIL. I took the weekend PMP course with Mike who is an amazing instructor. He is full of energy and really knows how to keep us awake. He did the application for the exam in class submitted it. I took the exam about a week after the class passed on the first try. Follow all his tips and study method and the exam will be a lttle on the east side.
The ITIL class was great with instructor Juan. The material is good but repeats alot. I took the exam the following day and pass. His style of teaching was great. Make the terms easy to understand.
Today I am currently taking the Microsoft Project class that comes free with the PMP course. Instructor Andrew Barnes is very detail. This class is a little slow. I am sure if he didn’t have to stop to help a few people who keeps falling back we could be done by 3 or 4. I am sure he will keep us here till at lease 5 but I am learning some new things. I have been using microsoft project for the last 5 years.
Overall a great school. Location is good. Rooms are ok but sometimes gets hot. Instructors are amazing. I will be back soon for thd pmi-​acp with Mike.

I took PMP training at Technical institute of America, instructor Mike was very good in teaching, keeping you engaged all the time, giving valuble tips and techniques. You can attend classes via live class room or online. You can take course multiple times free of cost. I like their offer that if you fail once they pay fee for exam retake and if you fail twice entire course fee will be refunded. And a bonus of free MS project training too. I wish they would give us Rita book instead of other book they gave us free for training.
Course fee is half when compared to others.
I highly recommend it.

A friend of mine recommended the school at the perfect time so I was excited to see that they were offering the Security + training class earlier this year. I signed up for the class scheduled for March/​April 2014. I was extremely disappointed when they cancelled the class a week before it’s start date as I was due to give birth in May and wanted to complete the class before the arrival of my baby. I decided to wait until the next weekend session which began in September.
First day of class and what started as optimism became horror. Lady at the front desk gave me a form to complete, handed me the book and told me the room number. I didn’t expect a cup of tea and a smile because well this is NYC so whatever. Walked into the class and there were 5 students which was great but the instructor apparently had not been told he was teaching the class until the day before. He was super unprepared, which was strike 1. The instructor then proceeded to waste the entire morning telling us about his 9 certifications, showing us his LinkedIN profile, qualifications & rambling on about nonsense not related to the task at hand (Security +). Strike 2. We finally began some hands on and began setting up some VM’s and Kali Linux. I went along thinking there was an end goal to all of this. Nope. Since he decided to handhold the ones who were not familiar with installation, we spent the rest of the afternoon setting up VM’s we did not get to use. I should have dropped the class that day but I thought I was being to rough and that my expectations were way to high so I came back the following Sat.
Day 2 we were once again met with unpreparedness, scattered conversation, back to LinkedIn profile and his many certs (blah). When another classmate asked why we had not gone through the chapter the instructor became irate, obscene, insulting & totally out of order informing us that this was a cheap class and that we are getting what we paid for. I could not take it any longer and walked out of the class extremely disgusted. I reached out to management the very next day.
Positives
I explained the entire situation and my distaste for what had occurred and lack of professionalism. Management quickly addressed the situation, apologized and assured that they would reschedule me. Unfortunately, the next class being offered was in Nov. So after wasting time I had to wait. Fast forward to Nov and a week before the class I was notified that the class would be cancelled. I was LIVID and requested a full refund.
Fortunately, management promptly took care of it. They called me back and said they would see what they could do to get the class to start. The class did not start on schedule but did start a week after promised start date.
This time around they gave us a new instructor Alexis V. who is great! He is super knowledgeable, friendly, approachable and brings a wealth of experience. I am glad I didn’t get my money back because Alexis is truly a great instructor and I am extremely happy with him.
I will say however that even though take 2 was better, after my initial experience with TIA and their last minute class cancellations with no regard to peoples schedules or plans (they cancel if they have a low sign-​up ¾ or ⁴⁄₅ — mgmt said they needed at least 5 students to start the class) I will probably not be taking any other courses unless I am guaranteed another high caliber instructor like Mr. Valencia & will recommend at own risk.

Just finish the excel class. I had a good experience. The flow of the course was ok. Again my teacher was andrew barnes. The book has useful steps but need more graphics to make it easier to follow. The course files are email to you after the class. Which is good because it is the same files your were on during the class. This class is worth money.
Their were a few people that were a little slow but Andrew help them quickly and keep the class going. We started a little late as we had a few people walk in late. I know things happen but he we should not have to wait on late people. We started almost 10 minutes late. The emails they send out is kinda late. They send me a reminder email the day before at 6. Should have gone eariler in the day.
I did get lost a few times but he came over and got me back up. 8 hours is a long to be in a class but the breaks really helped. They offer a free retake with the class. I will probably take it one more time in a few weeks. I spoke to a few other students and they seems happy also.
Overall I did learn a lot and would recommend them.

This is place is a horror show. Don’t go. First, the instructor Randall has no training in the teaching profession. While he may know the products, his teaching style is scattershot. Microsoft provides multiple ways activating functions. Randall goes between key board to menu to ribbon withouth rhyme or reason.
The PCs are a mess and have not been cleaned on the outside and all applications settings moved by students have not been reset to a standard setup. This produces unpredictable results.
There is no security and no customer service. They move students through like cattle and would use a cattle prod if that were legal.
If you want real training, go to a competent organization. This one isn’t it.

I was pleasant surprised by the Technical Institute. I took a Basics Excel class there expecting the usual bored instructors with non-​working equipment. This was so not the case!
The instructor, Andrew, was great. He was engaging and knew the material backwards and forwards. Andrew was super helpful and made you learn by doing. The computers were current and fast.
The only negative was the bathrooms, they were pretty gross by the end of the day. All and all I would strongly recommend this class.

I took the PMP Class in April 2014 with Mike Monteverdi at The Technical Institute of America (TIA). This was at the TIA classrooms in Midtown NYC. There was an option to take the course online and a couple people participated that way. The Price was extremely reasonable at a special offer rate of $ 1000 for the 5 day course Mon — Friday 9am-​6pm. Most of the competitors in New York City were at least double or Triple that price. So for value for money it was a no brainer. Since I am currently working overseas I flew in to take the course for that week.
The Course Itself was excellent, it covered all the main topics including practice tests etc and the instructor Mike was top notch. He made the class fun and interesting with real world examples to illustrate the material. Normally, it would be challenge to stay awake all day in an 8 hour class but I did not have that problem here. Mike also helped everyone with our PMI Applications and reviewed them to avoid red flags and getting audited. This was very useful.
I passed the PMP Exam 2 weeks ago on my first try and averaged above proficiency. I spent about a week after the course studying for the exam. Mike recommends 3 weeks of study after the class to review all the material and the PMBOK5. (Which is a painful read by itself).
All in all, I would recommend highly TIA for this PMP Prep course (Mandatory 35 hours of instruction required anyways so you have to take some course in order to qualify as a PMP). I am planning to register for Six Sigma Green Belt Next with TIA. These guys rock!

TIA, I really wanted to love you and recommend you to my friends, but unfortunately, you have a rotten apple on your staff that tainted your reputation just a bit. 4 stars for the quality of the courses offered, and negative stars for the horrible customer service!
The PMP course came highly recommended by my friend who just recently took the course with TIA and passed the exam. I decided to sign up for a Fall weekend course which comes with a free MS Project course (SWEET!). The instructor was attentive… he kept everyone engaged and made the class interesting with his many real life examples on how we can apply this knowledge. A+ for Mike the instructor (sorry forgot his last name)!!
Signing up for the class and entering your credit card information was a breeze! But my experience with all the logistical stuff went downhill immediately after that. (Again, my gripe is really with the customer service here.) If you have any questions or need to reschedule a course, my advice would be to email them (vs. calling). While the email response time isn’t great, calling them is a total JOKE and a waste of your breath. They usually do not pick up the phone and when someone actually does pick up, they put you on hold and then they forget about you. Another time I was put on hold and the call gets disconnected (of course). I call back and (of course) no one picks up. I then email them, and it seems they get back to you whenever they happen to feel like it, which was a few days later.
The MS Project course was rescheduled twice since I signed up, which is all fine and dandy, but I couldn’t make the rescheduled time so I called to reschedule the class yet again. On ⁸⁄₂₆ at around 10am, the receptionist, Natalie Izaguirre, was just nasty to me when I was unclear about when new course offerings will be posted on the website (they only post a few classes at a time and you have to wait a while for them to post new offerings if the times listed do not work for you). The entire time I was on the phone with her, she just seemed disinterested and frustrated with my questions and answered with «I JUST SAID… blah blah blah «Excuse me, but please don’t treat your paying customers like they’re idiots, especially since YOU are the one who is clearly not good at your own job. Please do us all a favor and take a sick day if you are PMS-​ing!
TIA — please forgive my sarcasm in advance, but here’s something for the olé suggestion box… maybe consider offering a course in «Basic Customer Service Skills» and have it be mandatory for staff like Natalie, either that or start offering onsite counseling for employees because clearly, this lady is not a happy camper!
