Margaritas are strong and they are a really great price. The chicken enchiladas were some of the best I have ever had. I’d skip the tacos next time and just go for the enchiladas.

Based on my sole, delivery experience with Tepito I could not be happier. — Fast delivery. — Large portions. — Reasonable prices(some may dare say, «cheap»). — Great rice & beans. — Superb Mexican flavors — I had the chicken enchiladas. Will be on the short-list for those nights my girlfriend and I are too lazy to cook.

Ummmmm. Not so convince with the drink. Once I leave here I am going back to El Camion and have a real Margarita.

I really wanted to like this place. I tried. Cold evening, seated by the windows meaning lots of cold drafts. Service was slow. I don’t blame our waiter rather I think the management is pretty horrible. I am assuming the executive chef(chef’s outfit, walking around the restaurant) was trying to make sure that everyone was taken care of but he was just roaming the restaurant and making circles around diners. We had to wait more than 30 mins just to get chips and salsa. Ok, maybe it’s busy I can deal. My friends and I ordered chorizo(yum, nice and smokey) nachos. Delicious except that we got our nachos before getting our chips and salsa. And we had to ask because if we did not I am pretty sure we would have never received our chips and salsa. Food orders-veggie tacos, shrimp tacos and enchiladas. All come with rice and beans. Beans were delicious. Rice was absolutely inedible. My friend tasted it and spit it out and stated, «This tastes like a bathroom.» Not knowing what that would taste like I go ahead and try a bite which just confirmed what my friend stated. I was too embarrassed to tell staff about it because then I go on Unilocal and confirmed that someone also mentioned that their rice is horrible. Shrimp tacos were really good. My friends liked their food except of course their rice. I rather stick to my usual haunts in Jackson Heights for some much better and more affordable Mexican food.

We haven’t been here but ordered in the other night and the food was great. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were a generous portion and filled with a mango salsa, served with a side of mango chipotle dressing. The tacos were a perfect mix of sweet and salty, and were too big for me to finish. My boyfriend ordered chicken enchiladas, which were creamy and spicy. Neither one of us had room for the beans and rice, but they both tasted great. The menu is a good size, and there are plenty of options to choose from. We never order in Mexican(and rarely dine out at Mexican places), but the food from tepito was excellent. We will be ordering from here again soon, and I would recommend it to others(although I can’t speak to the dining experience!)

Hi strong drinks. I didn’t try the food but they have white sangria. That always makes me happy. Drinks were the usual prices of NYC drinks.

As good as it gets! enjoy a margarita for $ 4.99 while watching the busy bees passing by on the sidewalk. Guacamole is amazing!

I’ve been to Tepito’s three times now, and each time its gotten worse. I’m really disappointed – I love Mexican food and I was hoping this would be my go-to spot. I have to give credit where credit is due, the shrimp tacos were amazing and the guac is pretty good too. I can’t say anything else was too good though. The service was unbelievably slow. The last time we went, there were two other tables, but otherwise the restaurant was empty. The waitress didn’t come back to our table to get our order for 30 minutes. I literally had to get up and find her to come take our order. The rice that came with the tacos last time lasted like Lysol. The waitress tried telling me that’s how it’s supposed to be? Lime-lime flavored rice shouldn’t taste like Lysol! Waiting so long for inedible food might not have been terrible if I could have had a conversation. The music was so incredibly loud that a conversation was impossible. Its 6PM on a Saturday, not 11PM at a bar, I don’t think a conversation is unreasonable.

Decent food(its hard to screw up Mexican)… but 1) Terrible atmosphere, the constantly blaring horns of 14th and 1st doesn’t help 2) Watered down drinks. 3) Lousy service. 4) Didn’t even have all the dinner menu options at a regular hour. Won’t be going again.

The good: My watermelon margarita was delicious — sweet but not too sweet. The shrimp tacos were tasty as well. The service was efficient. We go free flan at the end of our meal. The not so good: The music was at some points too loud to speak over at some points. Then there was a table next to us filled with the loudest people in NYC. They seriously couldn’t speak at any level lower than a full-on scream. So that made the evening less enjoyable. Overall, it was an ok time and I’ll probably come back since it’s close to my apartment.

There are so many places in this city that try and boast serving the best Happy Hour margaritas. Tepito is a rather strong contender in this field. Gently coerced by one Miss Aviva G. to have a post-work libation here(…and it honestly didn’t take much to twist my arm…), I was pleasantly surprised by a dark and slick interior with windows opened to the corner of 14th and 1st.(Excellent people watching, needless to say.) After various bad experiences with bad and cheap Happy Hour margaritas, laced with inferior flavors and nausea-inducing cheap tequila, Tepito left me happy, functionally buzzed, and non-nauseated with a lovely $ 5.00 frozen strawberry margarita. Score! I also hate places that serve bad nacho platters. Tepito also earns another rave for their delicious one! I’m a girl that can, and LOVES to, eat massive and unhealthful amounts of cheese.* These nachos were practically bathed in cheese, along with tasty gauc, sour cream, salsa, and peppers. We ordered steak nachos, and it was a good decision. Plump and flavorful nuggets of freshly cooked steak almost stole the show entirely! And though a small and traditional gesture, the complimentary chips and salsa verde we received for the table were superb! I’m a sucker for freshly cooked chips, still hot from the grease and covered in salt. Crafting this review is making me hungry for Round Two. — - — - *- No wonder all of the boys fight over me. I’m a girl that can handle her cheese!

Only came here for the sangria. We came on a total whim! I saw sangria glasses in the window and figured, hey, why not? We scrunched in at the bar and ordered a pitcher of sangria, hoping to extend a nice night in the city. The bartender was a little abrupt in asking for the $ 25.00 right off the bat. Hey, dude, let us drink and enjoy it first before you hit us with the price! The sangria was good, but pretty watered down. If I get up and I don’t think, whoa, how much sangria did I consume?, then it probably isn’t strong enough. Oh well.

Never thought I’d come in here but the HAPPYHOUR specials were just too tempting when every other bar was packed on st pattys day! FREECHIPS&SALSA verde with your drink purchases! The chips are super fresh and yummy but the salsa could use some work — $ 9 guacamole appetizer was fresh & better than their free salsa! —-$ 5 margaritas during HH! You have a choice of on the rocks or frozen & they also have lots of exotic flavor choices WITHREALFRUITCHUNKS! (mango, guava, passion fruit) the PASSIONFRUIT was the best! Love how they have a huge table in the middle that perfectly accommodated our large group! I’d probably only come for happy hour since my friend said her tacos were mediocre

I came here with a friend after a day spent exploring the Lower East Side. We each had a glass of Riesling, and then split an appetizer of guacamole and some sort of very spicy green salsa. For my main course, I had a vegetarian tostada of sorts, full of fresh vegetables and beans, with a side of rice. The bill was not cheap, but the food was delicious and well worth it.

This place is a solid 3-star place, which in Unilocal terms is A-OK. Drinks and food were good, but nothing outstanding. I thought the prices for the tacos were a little high. They have some huge tables that would be perfect for big groups. All day happy hour on Mon and Tues! Diablo Royale is still my go to for tacos in the EV. They let you mix and match tacos in your order and an order of tacos is enough for me and my gf to split. We both needed to order our own taco plates here which really drives up the expense.

Tepito mahi mahi tacos are great! We had steak as well. eeeyum. Chips were fresh and delicious. Finally, a place in Manhattan with perfect chips and the salsa verde is fresh and tasty. Server was lovely. Wrestling with 3 vs 4 stars because of the prices. $ 2 – 4 too expensive imho., but we will be back anyway! Happy hour? Yes! Worried that the«house» happy hr margarita would not cut it. But it was spot on and happy w/paying $ 5. The bartenders are really lovely. Fresh chips and salsa too. Now I am cool with 4 stars. :)

Been here twice and the food is delicious. I love the mushroom quesadilla and the flautas. The chips and salsa are also good, the green salsa is a nice change of pace. In terms of portions, I was satisfied but I could see how others with a heartier appetite may need to add side orders, etc. The service can be mixed. I think the hostesses/servers we’ve encountered both nights are a little new to the restaurant biz but luckily there’s another server who’s fantastic! He checks, brings everything quickly, etc. etc. Very nice. If you like a quieter dining experience, definitely go on a Sunday or another night because Saturday is loud given the enjoyable happy hour(frozen margarita was delicious) so the noise can be a little obtrusive if you want to have a one on one conversation since it feels more like a bar then. The music is a nice mix(if you can hear it: P)

We only stopped in for drinks, so my review is based on that; I can’t vouch for food. Tepito was relatively empty for a Friday night, so we wandered up to the bar to have a look at the menu. They had some interesting drinks, so we gave it a whirl, and they did not disappoint. We tried the Spicy Guyaba & the Cosmo de Mango; both were fan-friggin-tastic. I can’t speak for anything else there, but try either of those, and you’ll be happy.
