Half-way through my Pad Thai, I look at the wall that’s about six inches from my shoulder and there is a roach crawling around. Gross!!!

Not fancy but really good. We just came back from Thailand and thought the food was pretty good. We had drunken noodle and black noodle

Came here in a whim as I had plans locally later in the evening. There was another thai restaurant about 15 feet away with a similar menu, but no one in it, which let me to believe thai palate was the best of the two since it was about half full. Had a ‘Lao Dark’ beer, which I hadn’t ever seen before. Quite tasty. I had the pork larb to start; it was very good — HOWEVER, and this is my fault, I always forget to ask them to make it not so spicy. Don’t get me wrong, I love spicy food, and the larb has two asterisks on the menu saying its very spicy. I just wish I had said to go easy on the Thai chili’s because my mouth was absolutely on fire. My date had lemongrass chicken for dinner which had nice flavor. I had the duck over rice(misleading title, rice was in a side dish, it was actually served over bok choy) and I had a tremendous serving of duck for $ 11 dollars. I was eyeing some of the other duck dishes at 17 dollars but am very pleased with the portion and price I had. Service was prompt and friendly. I’d gladly return if I was in the area again.

(a trained eye will notice this update relies heavily on copy/paste) Solidly okie doke! Second or third time(thereabouts) Green curry chicken lunch special spicy, but not too spicy They put the spring roll next to the salad so it got a bit soggy. Still tasted ok Phoned in order, ready in 15 mins when I arrived Portion was just right for lunch. Service was very friendly Will be back and sample more.

Stumbled upon here after the auto show one year. Super tiny place, I counted 18 seats but cute and cozy. The lucnh special was cheap for a good amount of food. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here but if I’m ever in the area in need of a nice place with good service and decent food, I’d come back.

I’m a thai beef salad fanatic, and although it wasn’t terrible, it was probably one of my least favorite ones I’ve ever had. Like other reviews, I found the portion to be very small. The salad itself just wasn’t done right. The beef was quite flavorless outside of the dressing, and the salad was full of limes(filler) & had soggy lettuce. The thai iced tea was also a major disappointment. It was not sweet or flavorful enough. The waiter was so nice, I feel bad leaving 2 stars, but that’s what it is for the food.

Came here for a lunch special. Friend had the drunken noodles, I had the eggplant basil. Both came with an okay salad, and the main courses themselves were pretty good. Maybe a little too much salt/soy sauce? But otherwise quite good, and with a good heat. Great price too.

It took me a while to write this but here I am. By accident we stopped to eat at this place and my boyfriend and I have been coming to Thai Palate for almost 8 months ever since. I absolutely love the food(especially the spring rolls), and it is constantly consistent and tastes great. I honestly don’t know why people have given such low stars(I am guessing they have their nose stuck in the air). All insults aside. I love this place. Their Drunk Man’s Spicy Noodle(extra spicy for me) is amazing and their portions are great(on some dishes). While the décor leaves little to be desired, the waitresses are nice(always smiling even to the rudest) and it is just a nice small cozy place definitely for lunch and a laid back date. Yes you have to go pass the kitchen to go to the bathroom, but helloo this is no 4 star upscale restaurant. This is just another great tiny restaurant in Midtown. I love this place and will continue coming back with my boyfriend! Give it a try!

Friendly and authentic Thai. Asked for off menu dish, 10 minutes later, I’m a happy man.

I can’t believe this place doesn’t get closed down by the NYC health dept. I have never seen such a dirty place in my life. I would have left but we already placed an order, went to use the restroom after the order was taken and you walk through the disgusting kitchen to get to the even filthier bathroom. My Pad Tai came out and it had a hair in it. By this time I was ready to leave… I couldn’t believe the waitress asked a women to move to another table while she was in the middle of eating her meal because she had a party of 12 that called and said they would be coming in. They were from out of town… Stay away from this filthy place… The food is TERRIBLE!

Typical Americanized Thai food. Perfect for a simple lunch or an intimate dinner with friends. I personally like this restaurant because the owner is an absolute doll. There really is no other way to describe her. The 4 stars goes to her upbeat attitude and flawless service.

My husband and I just had a lovely meal here the other night. The service was nice and the ambiance very cozy, reminds me of our days in Europe. The chicken wing appetizers were fantastic and our entrees were delish. I had tofu pad Thai and husband had green curry w chicken.

This is one tiny Thai joint. I say ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ often enough in my reviews but this one takes the cake. Barely the width of its front door, this hole in the wall can seat about 12 – 15 tops and definitely requires a couple sideways shuffles in order to get situated. Our server(who I assume is also an owner) was super enthusiastic during the whole visit which did make up for some of their short-comings like warm white wine served with ice or the fact that you have to walk through the kitchen to use the bathroom… We split the spring rolls to start that were tasty enough although they could have used some more of the sauce they were served on. My dinner date enjoyed her pad thai and my peanut curry dish was a-okay although both featured veggies that were a little underwhelming(and a lot undercooked). All in all, though, it was a nice spot to hide from the noise of Times Square for an hour or two!

I always go for the pad thai duck because I know it’s going to be good, but it turns out the black noodles was even better! The noodle that they use for this dish was large, I like it. The lime that comes with it surely added more freshness. Also, when I asked them to make it spicy, they did make it spicy enough for my Indonesian standard. Their spring roll was okay, it wasn’t all oily type of spring roll. Recommended.

It took me way to long to place my order for delivery, I think I spoke to a total of 4 people, repeating the same thing over and over. And when I finally placed my order the gentleman on the other end of the line didn’t give a total nor an expected time of delivery, he just said thank you and hung up. I thought for sure, I wasn’t going to be getting Thai delivered! But amazingly, it did show up, and fairly quick too. I was so surprised! But our dishes were all turned on their side or upside down completely so it was a bit of a mess. I had just typical pad thai with tofu. My friend had a curry with mixed veggies and tofu. Everything was just fine. Nothing to complain about at all. We both ordered spicy, and spicy we got. I loved the heat on mine as did she. The portions were large enough that we could have leftovers for late, very late, night snacks.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by Thai Palate. My friends and I ended up here after deciding not to go to another restaurant a couple blocks away and wandered up 9th Avenue until we found something that looked decent and found this place. The dining area is small, but it is clean and nicely decorated. Even something as simple as a plastic place mat on the black tables added a nice accent to the décor. Our server was very nice. We didn’t have any questions or anything about our food, but it seems she would have been helpful. I got the vegetarian Pad Woon Sen and it was one of the best I’ve had. Fresh broccoli, carrot, tomato and zucchini and the bean thread noodles were sauteed with what I think was white pepper, which gives it a nice oomph to the overall flavor of the dish. Definitely would come here again if in the neighborhood.

This place is a good sized walk in closet, although didn’t feel cramped, still pulling off an elegant feel. With that said, It can be easily missed if you weren’t paying attention. Just got a quick bite to eat here, had the pad Thai which was good and a Thai iced tea, yum. The staff is very friendly, but didn’t speak english very well other than one of the waitresses that was trying to compensate for the others. A few take out customers walked out in a huff, slamming the door behind them. Think they were just upset at the wait, since it seemed like it was a bit understaffed here. Overall it was a good Thai experience though.

This is the kind of restaurant that you would likely walk past everyday and not even know existed. It is a charming little find and the food is cheap and cheerful. I went for lunch and found the menu a little confusing — though the waitress was lovely and helped navigate. The décor is very sweet and the restaurant itself is very intimate — I counted possibly about 16 people would be able to be seated here at one time. The food is nice — we shared a pad thai and a spicy chicken dish which were flavourful but next time I will ask for it to be more spicy as it was very mild. Be sure to order a Thai iced tea to have with your meal! Overall my experience for lunch was very pleasant and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate, a nice escape from the hustle of the city outside.

I work around the corner and walk up and down 9th ave all week. When I saw yet another Thai restaurant open up in the neighborhood, I paid no attention whatsoever. Being fairly burnt out on the lunch choices in my little corner of midtown, I decided to give it a go with a coworker of mine. Being that we worked nearby, we just decided to get takeout. I had the green curry w/chicken lunch special and she had a papaya salad. Though our expectations were low, we were actually pleasantly surprised. For the price, this food was pretty damn good. Glancing at the menu, the dinner selections look reasonable priced as well, and there were ample vegetarian options. I don’t know if I’ll go back after work hours, but I definitely see myself getting lunch here in the future.

Cute little Thai place stuck behind the Port Authority Building on Ninth. Sunday in New York(working)and needed someplace new for lunch. So I walked past my local favorite — Il Punto — and only noticed this tiny storefront cause the waitress was putting out a sign for their $ 6.99 lunch specials. Just past Noon and I was their third customer but the place filled up in the 45 minutes that I was there. The restaurant has about 12 tables, two tops down one wall and four tops opposite. Modern décor. The one window in the front is hinged to open, but it was just a bit chilly for that today. My waitress was efficient but spoke a lot more Thai than English. I ordered the peanut chicken with rice noodles, the pad something or other. I can never remember names of Thai dishes. A good portion, properly cooked, not too spicy. The plate had additional chilis and what looked like brown sugar on the side, so I guess you can play with your food. I enjoyed it. I ordered the Thai tea, iced, for an additional $ 2.00 which was new to me but tasty and enjoyable. With the tip it came to $ 12.00. Nothing to go out of your way for but if you live or work in the area, not a bad addition to the range of Ninth Ave cuisine.
