The Buzz

An employee cloned my credit card and tried to use it the very next day. Luckily my card company caught the transaction, but needless to say I won’t be giving them any return business.

My main impression of the Buzz is that it’s very clean. Extremely clean. It’s just really, really, clean. Every bottle is neatly in place. There’s nothing sketchy at all.
Although it’s mostly wine, the wine selection is fairly small and uninteresting. The shelves aren’t too high, and they’ve taken to putting wine two or three bottles abreast, you know, like a supermarket does with its cereal boxes. The European wines are a little more dense, just like Europe!
There’s also a small but decent selection of upmarket mainstream vodkas, agaves and tequilas, Prices are a little on the expensive side.
It’s not a bad place at all, I would not feel bad about buying from here, but it does not elevate me. I think a liquor store should elevate you and engage your imagination, but maybe that’s just me.

I like this place, fast delivery if you tell them you need it asap.
The major downside for me is that I plan a lot of lunch time events and they don’t open until 11am which means it’s a bit of a rush last minute to get it over here.
Otherwise very friendly, reasonably good range. Wish they served beer though!

On a whim, the Buzz was calling for some liquid revelry after an exhaustive Friday which includes two prior respective stops at FedEx. The sales associate noticed me leaning over browsing for a bottle of wine as my party of three was getting impatient waiting for me to make a decision, so he interjected with a 2012 Californian Pinot Grigio at $ 10.99. Normally I do not like when sales associates interject when shopping, but in this case I was glad as I needed assistance for my impulse purchase. The Buzz is a nice wine store. At the counter lies small shots under $ 3.00 each who need a quick buzz without attaining a whole bottle. Their business card also serves as a magnet.
The next two days, in my solitude, I drank ¹⁄₃ after struggling for half hour to get the stupid cork out! Surely then, I was buzzed.

You ever hear the one where a guy walks into a liquor store and there’s an Asian cashier and a black dude stocking the shelves? Well it goes like this:
The guy is paying for his bottle of Jameson (it’s fairly priced at $ 40 or so) and the cashier looks to the stocker, and says: «Hey. She’s got a picture of you on her bag!»
Both the stocker and the guy turn around, following the cashier’s pointer finger, and see a woman standing with an oversize bag on her arm. The picture on the bag is a cute black chimp.
End of joke.

Charging $ 12 for a $ 7 bottle vodka?! You’re really taking advantage of your location! :(
Small clean place. Looks cramped though.
And when you walk in the door you can feel bombarded by people, with as many as 4 people around the cash register, looking at you as you decided what alcohol you’re going to get — opting for the cleaner word — messed up with tonight! :(
You’re ucky I sometimes forget my little bottle of vodka home uptown! or the liquor stores around 48^th and 8^th seem so far away! :(

Oh, Buzz — you’re so conveniently located, but I just can’t with you. You’re super cramped, you have a mediocre at best selection, and, most annoyingly, are *really* overpriced (as in, the exact same bottle of wine or liquor can consistently be found for about a third less within a couple blocks).
I want to like you, I really do, but with those three strikes against you, you’re out.

these people are idiots. i called for a delivery that was WELL inside the area that they say they cater to on their site. I was told that
even though they advertise a given area on the site, it simply has not been updated in 5 years and that it is not the actual area they deliver to…
perfect.

After a quick look at the Unilocal app in order to try and find a liquor store nearby to pick up some tequila on the way to a friend’s house for a Mexican food night on Monday, we decided on The Buzz since it seemed to be the most highly rated store in the area.
At first glance when you walk in, it seems like they have a decent selection of wine, but too bad we weren’t in here looking for wine. Instead, we were on a mission for tequila and some margarita mix to take to a friend’s house where she was busy prepping the food portion of the Mexican food night. The selection for liquor on the other hand is lacking, and the prices are a little ridiculous. The smallest bottle of tequila was $ 29.39, which also happened to be the cheapest before one descended down to the land of brands that you just don’t want to tempt fate with. They only had the largest bottle of margarita mix that one could possibly find in stock, and that was something like $ 13.
Yes, this is Manhattan, but I’ve frequented plenty of liquor stores in Manhattan that have a better selection and lower prices. Can’t say that I’d seek this place out again, but it did the trick for us on that night, and at least they accept credit cards (though we certainly smashed a $ 5 or $ 10 minimum charge if they had one…).

If you’re in Chelsea/​Flatiron, and you need a quick bottle of wine/​simple booze, this is a great spot to go for it. Prices are decent, and although it’s a teensy store, there’s enough selection as long as you’re not looking for anything too fancy. What else do you need from a liquor store?

My go-​to liquor store if I’m going to a friend’s house right after work and need to grab a bottle on the go, or if I’m at home and too lazy to step out. Free local delivery is hard to beat, the small but eclectic selection offers something for everyone I would think, and the friendly staff makes it a no-​brainer. It can be a bit crowded in there as the place is on the tiny side but no big deal. A bit overpriced compared to other places in the neighborhood but for me, what they lack in affordability they make up for in convenience.

Wine and alcohol shop… not extensive, but quite expensive. I love this place mainly for these reasons:
1. The employees are great. Happy, friendly, and very nice.
2. They have wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings and offer really good cheese with about 4 tastings of wine.
3. They happen to be located across from my apartment. Like literally, seconds away.
They also deliver but since buying a bottle of red by myself usually means it’s going to be a lazy night, I think I can do with walking down my apartment’s stairs and across the street.
On the downside, as I said earlier, they are kind of pricey. I mean, it’s not ridiculous, but you can get a bottle elsewhere for probably $ 1-​$ 3 cheaper. It’s a very small place, which means there isn’t a huge selection. Definitely perfect if you just want a bottle of wine and don’t care about brands… same thing goes for hard liquor.

Great local liquor store. If you’re in the area — get your booze here.

Cool little gem of a store. Decent prices on scotch, great wine selection for a store this size. These guys are a block away from my place but always find time to deliver what we need for personal, parties, etc. Also, decent selection of chilled wines, etc… and, a shelf of mixers for cocktails which can be hard to find these days in many NYC liquor stores.

We (at work) frequently order from The Buzz and will continue to do so to no end. The service is friendly, the delivery is fast. Great, great small business!

This joint is less than two blocks away from my house which makes good on a rush run over or a delivery, thank you. It is a pretty small store only offering two rows of liquor of about 14 feet each. However they do offer all the essentials on getting you to where you need to be. They have the reds, whites, and will have you feeling blue — very American if you ask me. They have the hard stuff too like patron and etc. Who could forget the bubbly, not Buzz !
The prices will suit any budget which is great, being nearby FIT probably has some affect on this. The staff is really nice and friendly, though im not sure on their knowledge of the items they sell. I’ve never walked in there and asked for their suggestions only asked to point me to the south american reds. They dont card, which makes me feel 35 — hence the low Unilocal rating — boo hoo, hoo boo !
