The Device Shop – Fix My iPhone NYC

Had a great experience at Device Shop and wanted to recommend them to everyone. They reattached my charge port a few months ago but when that fix stopped working they instantly bought a brand new charge port completely free of charge and also spent over a half hour installing it. Not only that, but they also fixed a completely separate issue I was having with my power button.
Not many businesses stand behind their work and put customer service at the forefront of their business model. These guys are the go to spot for any issue, they literally will fix your phone on your lunch break (you can ask them, I ate my lunch at their magazine desk when I was there).
Million thumbs up, these guys are the quick fix we all need, plus prices are fair. Not sure how they got any negative reviews, seems like they’re very eager to resolve any issue.

I’ve been here twice so far, and the service was excellent on both accounts. The first time I was here my iPad screen had broken, and was fixed quickly and effectively. I haven’t had any issues since.
The second time was an issue where my phone was not charging. They took a look and realized there wasn’t an issue with the charging dock, but rather a large amount of dust in charge port blocking the charger from properly charging. They cleaned it out free of charge (since no replacement parts were needed), which is always very much appreciated. My phone is charging fine now.
Overall just very friendly and efficient employees. Couldn’t ask for much more.

Incredible good service and result: got there as my iPhone stopped charging.
After some basic test of the device they cleaned the port with pressured air and appropriate toiling.
Took less then 5 minutes and I came close at the end of the day and hadn’t to wait at all.
Left without to pay a dime and a charging phone.

I went to the Chrysler Building branch. I was helped immediately, and got my iphone fixed on the spot (I forget the man’s name who fixed it, but hes a great American).

This is a long story but I recommend reading if you own an iPhone 6 and really effed up your screen.
I don’t like going to the Apple Store because it sometimes takes ages to wait in line, it’s crowded, and mostly I dislike the commute (even though honestly, it’s not that bad and I’m just lazy).
So I came in because this place was 2 minutes from my work. I brought in a very cracked screen and broken LCD iPhone 6 and they fixed it in 30 minutes for ~$ 140. Cool!
I try out my phone and now the finger sensor doesn’t work – not the end of the world, but I want my phone to be working again right?
I call them, and they’re very helpful saying if it just reset the phone it should work. I try 5 times. It doesn’t work. I call them again and they say I can bring it in tomorrow.
I didn’t get a chance to stop in again until 3 days later. Over the course of these 3 days, not only did the finger sensor not work, there was a weird blue LCD flash thing on my phone (hard to explain, but it was like blue light boxes that would flash on the screen), AND sometimes when I press the physical home button, it didn’t take me back to the home page.
I come back into the store again, explaining my story, and they tell me I should just go home and backup my phone to my computer, and then erase all content and restore back to factory settings. They also added that they have never seen this before and it’s probably my fault for downloading some virus or apps. The most recent app I downloaded since I broke my phone has been Snapchat. Okay.
I go home, do as I’m told, and now I am sitting here writing this, disappointed, because in the process of restoring my phone, now my phone won’t turn on.
There’s a message on my iTunes that says «The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (53).» Obviously I look up error 53, and on Apple’s website it says «When iOS finds an unidentified or unexpected Touch ID module, the check fails. For example, an unauthorized or faulty screen replacement could cause the check to fail.» AHA!
Now I just have a dead phone, and when I attempt to turn it on (holding the home and lock buttons), it has the flashing symbol directing me to plug in my phone to iTunes to update.
Sigh. I guess I’m going to have to go to the Apple store.

Great service, price and speed. The Device Shop has fixed a broken iPhone 6 camera, replaced a 5 screen and fixed a non working iPad. Always quick and I have been 100% satisfied. Well done.

I recently got a repair done at The Device Shop (Times Square) on yesterday. I had a cracked screen that needed repairing. I spent $ 200 on a new screen. The sales person informed me that if I purchased a tempered screen as well, this would help alleviate any breakage moving forward. So, a total of $ 220.
Well, unfortunately, my phone dropped again today. Completely just fell off my desk. I returned to The Device Shop. I wanted to find out if there was any way that the phone could be fixed since I was just there YESTERDAY.
One of your employees (Chivas) informed me that I had a case of bad luck and unfortunately there was nothing that could be done because it did not fall within warranty. *crickets* No discount to potentially have it repaired again. No «let me speak with my manager to see what can be done and get back to you.» Nada. Just a case of bad luck. Very disappointing to say the least. Even more so because I had been to The Device Shop prior, referred friends, and also wrote a previous Unilocal review that was favorable.
I asked for Chivas’ name. He immediately gave it but then asked me what I needed it for (hence, this review). He then became very defensive and told me that there was no (and I quote) «fucking law that stated that I needed his name.» He then told me to «get out.» Quite frankly, it was the most absolute horrendous customer service experience I have ever encountered.
When I informed him that I would be reaching out to the owner, he responded «You know what, I don’t care.» There were 2 additional employees who were present when all of this transpired — 1 a short female with dark hair who informed me that she did not want to be in the middle of it. And, another gentleman in the back who was servicing phones. I’ll be writing reviews across all social channels possible. And, all of the people I have referred to your business will be notified to stay away.
I’m literally at the Apple store typing this email and they informed me that I should have come here first. They could have replaced my screen for $ 130. Lesson learned.

The tech that replaced the battery on my iphone 5s was extremely pleasant and very competent. I saved over $ 40 plus a lot of hassle over going to the Apple Store. I am very pleased with the result. Highly Recommended!

These guys are awesome. I have a nexus 6 phone, not a common phone. They answered all of my questions and fixed my phone as good as new. I had dropped my phone and smashed my screen really badly, the phone wouldn’t work at all and I came in to device shop and they fixed it quickly. A month later my phone seemed to be having problems– I wasn’t sure if it was hardware (the screen) or software (motorola’s problem). It is something you can only begin to understand with prolonged use, so they couldn’t figure it out in store. They still replaced the screen for me, free of charge. Despite this part being particularly expensive due to this phone not being a commonly owned one. Truly great customer service!

Great service! I walked in thinking I was going to pay to replace my charging port, as it took 10 minutes of wiggling the cable around to get it to charge. But all it needed was some lint removed from the charging connection. They did it for me in 5 minutes for free! Awesome service!

I read the good reviews and brought in my wife’s iPhone which fell in the toilet. I made a reservation, but they were pretty busy so I left the phone. They probably have about 8 technicians working on different phones. They said that they took apart the phone, dried the various components, removed them to test new ones in their place, but ultimately got the same error message about plugging into iTunes. They didn’t charge me anything. When I tried the phone one last time, plugging into iTunes, I was able to restore it. So, in the end, the phone works, and they were cool, so five stars.
So when the battery on my phone was failing I brought it there to be replaced. It was lasting like an hour before the replacement and as good as new when replaced. Mentioned Unilocal to get like $ 10 off.

This is a very high quality company. I called the company on two different occasions and both times the employee I spoke to were very helpful and honest in their responses.
I got my phone repaired at the Grand Central location (26^th floor in the Chrysler Building) which is a 5 minute walk from my office. Andre said it would take 15 – 20 minutes to replace my iPhone 5 screen and install a new tempered glass screen protector. It was $ 92 out the door for a new screen + Gorilla tempered glass protector. I also saved $ 10 with the Unilocal coupon. The waiting area is very nice and quiet. There’s a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, so I could have save a bit more if I paid in cash. But otherwise Andre was a total professional and does a great job!

After 4 years, 3 iPhones, and a spotless record without a cracked screen, I had to go through the ordeal of selecting a place to get my newly cracked screen fixed.
After perusing about 10 different places, I ended up selecting this place mainly because of one thing: transparency. Unlike every other business I looked at, this place puts its prices on its website. No B.S., just a really quality job. $ 109 plus tax for new screen.

I am for a living a «Computer guy» but when it came to taking apart my phone I was a little nervous since I’m going away on vacation and couldn’t risk it. I went there, they fixed my phone in no time and everything is perfect.
I’m a phone addict but talking to the guy who works there is really what made this place spectacular, they have personality, and they get the job done 100% for a VERY reasonable fee.
This place is absolutely amazing, if you need something fixed, go here. it’s worth it.

I should not be proud of this, but I’m a regular.
My first visit was because my iPhone 5s was water damaged. Luckily they were able to fix it for me and no parts needed to be replaced. It cost about $ 75 and took less than 1.5 hours. My second visit was because my other iPhone 5s’s battery was not working and the screen was lifting. I was told the battery will definitely need to be replaced and it’s best the screen was too. I paid $ 136 after a discount they provided (yes, my loyalty paid off!). In addition, they put on a new tempered glass screen for me at no additional cost. This process also took less than 2 hours. There are more incidents but I’m sure you get the point.
Overall, I love the professionalism and friendliness of the staff! I would love to not have to visit any time soon, but if necessary, this would be my to go to.

Everyone was very nice and accommodating. However, the repair rendered my new iPhone 5s with foggy photos, as the glass was installed over a lens that wasn’t properly cleaned. Went back and they changed it, but still have foggy pics. Looked closer and it’s actually a sloppy install, looks like glue or dust. Look for my detail pic on their page. Just buying a new phone now. Back twice already, not thrice. Don’t recommend this place if you need a HQ repair.

I brought my Iphone in to repair the camera and the glass. A few days after the repair the glass fell off and I brought it back and they replaced it for free. The people there are very nice.
The reason I am leaving the low rating is because after a $ 90 repair of my camera and glass (x2), all my photos are coming out foggy and blurry. Not sure this repair was worth the $.

Was skipping out on the streets on Blynn one lovely night mimicking Kiesza’s «Hideaway» dance moves and my iphone 6 fell outa my pocket… screen shattered. Googled places that repair iphone screens the next day but had a hard time finding a place cause it was a Sunday and a bunch of places were closed. Came across this business and was impresed by the clean, prof website with marvelous reviews. Also conveniently located in Times Sq. I called and asked for a quote, they said $ 118 cash, $ 123 credit card. Using the $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal coupon, I figured it would come down to $ 108.
Arrived ~4pm on a Sunday and they took my phone w/​name/​passcode/​number down and told me come back in 30−40min. When I came back, my phone was done. Screen was immaculately replaced. Couldn’t tell it was broken at some point. But, did notice the home button was a little wobbly. When I pointed this out, they said it’s due to the rubber band around the button being less tight after they replaced the screen. When I was clearly unhappy with the home button, they offered to fix it if I could wait 5−10min more. I waited for a few min and… voila! home button wobbliness was fixed too.
Friendly, professional, honest, reasonably priced. What more can you ask?

The bottom line: I walked in at 12:23 p.m. with a cracked iPhone 5S screen. I walked out of the building at 12:43 p.m. with a new screen. My phone was fixed in less than 20 minutes! I was beyond impressed at the time spent fixing it as well as the quality of the repair. An iPhone 5S screen replacement, with sales tax and a small service fee, is about $ 90. I could have taken it someplace cheaper and risked a shoddy job, or I could have taken it to the Apple Store and spent $ 129. I’m pleased with my decision and pleased with the overall experience. Like most people (for better or for worse), my smartphone is my baby, and I’m glad they stitched her up. Though I hope the ol’ girl doesn’t need another repair, I’d come back here in a heartbeat, no questions asked.
Pro Tip: You’ll need a photo ID ready for the security guard when entering the building this location is housed in. I almost didn’t bring my purse and wouldn’t have had my driver’s license with me. Eep! Good to know.
