Every so often a beautiful and rich aroma of herbs finds its way to me. I can only guess it is the dojo that conjures such sweet events. I am stricken with envy for their ritualistic ways.

The Dojo is less an art installation(as it is most commonly known in the NYC vernacular) and more a veritable sanctuary in time. Of course, it oozes the splendor and squalor of humanity from its dank walls, a testament to the deep commitment to artistry of its denizens, but ultimately it transcends even the categories of art itself. However, I went during the lunchtime rush. I wish they hadn’t run out of pickles. Is anybody listening? Is anybody there?

There are certain places in the world that every able person should experience first-hand. Cultural enlightenment, awe-inspiring views, and historical significance lead to a very select group of spectacular sites. The Sistine Chapel. The Colosseum. The Sydney Opera House. Add The Dojo to the list. Throughout my time in New York City, I’ve frequented The Dojo for many reasons. The most important of these is the sense of serenity I feel as I step through the doorway. Each and every time I visit, the tranquil and musty air sweeps all of my worries away. As you enter, it’s impossible not to look around and feel like you’re leaving the rest of the world behind and entering a wonderland of peace. Here, I feel free. I feel free to rummage through belongings that don’t belong to me. I feel free to look through the overstuffed refrigerator, scavenging for hearty sustenance. I even feel free to make rest on the plush, cloud-like bedding. Before I experienced The Dojo’s sleeping situation, I had never known what«comfort you can’t feel» even meant. The unfathomable depth of that idea was beyond the scope of my thinking. Now, I feel like I can explain it in layman’s terms. To put it plainly, the beds are so comfortable that you can’t even feel them! If that isn’t superb enough, you should know that the hallways are always bustling. Don’t lie, when you see a restaurant or bar that isn’t popping with energy, you usually pass it up and try someplace different. You will NEVER have to pass on The Dojo. The constant influx of new and interesting people makes each trip to The Dojo a new and uplifting one. Meet new friends and old friends, people you hate and people you love, people that are utter wastes of carbon and people who were born immaculately. The Parthenon. Hagia Sophia. Taj Mahal. Add The Dojo to the list.

This establishment is one of the great cinderella stories of the modern era. Without the rags to riches story woven by this now iconic institution, children from Japan to Jamaica would be without inspiration and hope — utterly lost in desolate purgatory. But the Dojo struck up a symphony so triumphant that it lifted entire cities from squalor and ignorance into an enlightened and resplendent utopia. This advancement of the human race is unparalleled by even the most well-known of technological and philosophical leaps; it promises to revolutionize health, economics, religion, pizza, architecture, politics, science and fantasy football. It is with every ounce of my credibility(~3 fl. oz) that I insist that you visit this mecca of decency and testament to the spirit of humankind.
