Chill spot with great speakeasy type cocktails and always empty when I’ve gone; which was weird and probably why I’ve heard that it has closed down. The place was intimate and great to bring a date to or have a romantic night with your SO. The best part was that there was no cover, no dress code, no reservations needed, no security guard BS, and all that junk. We were always able to just walk in, sit on one of their couches, and have a great cocktail. I really hope it isn’t closed for good and either reopens or just moved locations. **Fingers crossed.**

Another basement bar in the West Village with cheap alcohol. I ordered here Patron Silver Margarita and it tasted awful, the Tequila was obviously NOT Patron Silver and I am not sure why these bars are doing this… As everyone who has a favorite drink and asks for it knows its taste. When you want quality and paying for it than I expect the genuine top shelf and NOT expensive bottles refilled with cheap alcohol. But of course they are banking that you are either to embarrassed to argue, don’t notice or a tourist who would not complain. Anyway I wouldn’t come back here. The interior is nothing special red velvet wallpaper(which reminds me of my friends parents living-room in London in the 80’s) so many bars look like that, no points for creativity or individuality here. The good thing was there is plenty of seats and the waitress was friendly even they sold me cheap tequila but charged for top shelf. I couldn’t be bothered to take pictures … As it is here as well all about money.

The worse drinks I have EVER had in my whole life(and that is more than 30 yrs of patronizing bars, lounges, and restaurants. Mojitos that were absolutely tasteless, may a twig of some mint-like substance in a tall glass with nothing but ice and the hint of some kind of alcohol. $ 11 each and before drinking I of course tipped the bartender. $ 25 for garbage drippings. Never will I go there again. And I will definitely advise my friends not to go either. Too bad one can’t give minus stars…

I like this place enough that I almost didn’t want to review it. It is cozy and intimate filled with comfortable couches and a little fireplace. The jazz music in the background adds to the ambiance. You can easily hold a conversation here. It’s great for catching up with one or some, sitting solo at the bar, or for a date. The drink menu includes some speciality cocktails, all of which looked good. I had the peach cobbler which was nice and sweet, but not too sweet. Do me a favor and don’t spread the word too much.

A nice if not a bit generic speakeasy type feeling cocktail bar. First thing, they need to invest in some sound proofing panels because it is LOUD in here. Ike no voice left after shouting for an hour to be heard even when there were only about another 15 people inside. The beer menu is pretty bland though serviceable. Go for the cocktails which were tasty though a bit small for the price. The spicy one will knock your socks off or help clear up sinus troubles. The staff is friendly but there is no chance in having any sort of conversation due to the noise.

It’s an ok place to try once. Cocktails are just alright. The place gets really packed and loud, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about having a conversation with someone sitting beside you — you may have to yell a little to be heard.

Great for after work drinks with friends. I met a friend here after work for some drinks and loved the atmosphere. Low lighting and lots of places to sit. We were immediately greeted and offered one of their many tables to sit at. They even have a larger, yet still semi private, area for larger parties(estimated seating of 10 – 12 there). Cocktails were expertly made and lots of great savory and herbal options for those that want something new. In the end the bill didn’t break the bank, which is always a plus. Though this is located near NYU, it was a more mature and adult crowd(grad students, professionals in the area, etc.) versus undergrad students looking for a cheap drink. I enjoyed it a lot.

I used to suggest coming here to meet with people for happy hour but lately the drinks are just not good. The last time I was here, I realized this has been the case the last few meetups. I usually get the rum tea and it’s not as good as before, not sure what happened but I doubt I will make it back anytime soon.

For those of us who often find ourselves in the NYU/S. Washington Square area, Dove Parlour is a softer, more conversation-friendly alternative to the Malt House or Amity Hall. It has plenty of couches and corners and little tables to support an intimate conversation or small group get-together and the décor is warm and inviting. For a cocktail lounge, the drinks certainly won’t knock your socks off. But at $ 7 during happy hour, they will do the trick. They also offer some food options, mainly consisting of tea sandwiches and cheese platters. If you’re hungry, I’d recommend springing for the $ 28 cheese platter to share with a friend. The price tag seems a bit steep, but the platter includes a generous amount of bread, cheese, and assorted bar snacks to fuel you through your imbibing.

Overall, the atmosphere is ok, the décor is a bit on the cheesy side. The over the top pinkish décor isn’t my thing, but if it is something you like, this is the spot for you. The cocktail drinks are priced around $ 12, which is standard for NYC. The bartender was pretty knowledgeable and recommended some drinks for us to try.

I’ve visited this lounge multiple times because of its incredible Happy Hour. Sunday through Thursday, most martinis and specialty cocktails are $ 7(as compared to $ 11). One of my favorite choices is the Spiced Peach Cobbler. It is made with peach vodka, honey, cinnamon and organic vanilla soy milk. It reminds me of a slice of peach pie with ice cream. It is delicious and dessert in a glass! If you happen to visit the Dove, the French Lavender and Silk Road Margarita are also lovely. This is a great deal during Happy Hour and I encourage you to explore!

I am surprised to see that I have not yet written a review about The Dove Parlour(TDP) since I have been there so many times. I don’t live in NYC, but visit 2 – 3 times a year to see friends. This is the one constant destination we visit, which says a lot since there are so many awesome restaurants/bars/lounges. What I love most about TDP is the champagne cocktails, all of the cocktails, and the great bartenders who make the cocktails. Yes, I love cocktails, and TDP knows what they are doing. When my friends and I go, usually a group of 10 – 15, we get a table and end up staying all night. The interesting thing is that the lounge can get really packed and the quickly empty out. It happens over and over all night long. Despite how crowded it gets, our server can always get to us, and serve drinks for our group. He was even able to split the order on different cards(something that some places aren’t willing to do). While TDP would ordinarily get 4 – 5 stars, I take one star away for having the music way too loud and for running out of toilet paper in the bathroom. And while I love TDP, it isn’t the most unique place in NYC. Fancy cocktails can be found everywhere.

Make sure to pay before 8pm to get happy hour prices. Got here before then but then didn’t get my drink order and check till after and was charged full price. There are a variety of unique drinks. I had gotten the french lavender one, and it was light and good. The place gets pretty loud, so it makes it kind of hard to talk to people. The chairs are also really high for the low coffee tables. Good just to stop by for a little bit, but not so much if you just want to chill and hangout

A girlfriend of mine chose this as her birthday party venue. I always seem to arrive super early to almost every event; it seems I haven’t learned the minimum half hour rule. Since I didn’t join her for dinner, I wasn’t able to coordinate my arrival. Thank goodness another gf of mine has the same early bird affliction. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar and I played with the Spiced Peach Cobbler. At $ 11 a pop, I was expecting a decent concoction of sorts, but it took the same amount of time to make this as a malibu rum, and came out tasting very amateur. If you want to check it out, go during their happy hour. The bartenders seem like fun characters; they were jamming to the music the whole night. I asked the staff where the reserved table was and they had botched up the dates; somehow, they had input my friend’s event for the following evening– this was after my friend had confirmed multiple times, including that very same night. However, they were quick to recover and were able to secure the window banquette area for us after patrons had bar-hopped to another joint. It was a nice little nook for a private gathering of 16 people, but that area was also situated under the speakers. Hot Damn! I was deaf mute by the end of the night: my ears were ringing and my throat was sore from screaming. It’s not really a place to talk or to dance. The one attractive feature was the dove fireplace setting. It was very elegant, dark, romantic, goth, classic to me. And it was illuminated by many candles, a pyromaniac’s dream!

Came for happy hour with a friend for a networking event. Service slow but drinks are fantastic. Tons of good cocktails to try. It’s a mellow underground lounge. Good to catch up with friends or bring your date here.

A charming bar with an interesting and surprisingly affordable range of unique cocktails. There’s quite a bit of standing floor space, so I imagine the bar must be made for dancing — I came much too early in the day(4 pm) to see any other patrons walk in. The old-timey, jazzy music complements the warm velvety feel of the place, and there are a few corner couches that would be good for larger parties. The food menu is as classy as the rest of the joint, which is dominated by tea sandwiches and nary a golden French fry to be seen.

Add this to one of my go-to spots in the West Village. Located down the stairs off Thompson Street, the Dove Parlour has a quieter, intimate feel than most bars in the area. It’s still lively, but it’s a place where you can definitely have some good conversation without shouting. The space is also pretty well decorated, and larger than most lounges in the area. Happy Hour lasts until 8pm, and while only the cocktails are discounted, the beers and wines here are pretty good as well. Prices are pretty reasonable, and know that the credit card minimum is $ 10. Back to the cocktails. They’re pretty unique, consistently made, and use some good ingredients. I’ve tried the Olympia, which was a good mix of bitter, sweet and tang, and the peach cobbler, which is an interesting creamy texture. Beers are pretty standard, but better than say Bud/Coors Light. Have yet to try the food, but have read good things from the reviews. Weekdays seem less crowded than weekends, but I haven’t been enough on weekends to know for sure. Service is decent and usually pretty fast, you just have to wave down the waitstaff pretty handily, since it’s usually pretty busy and it seems that they only have a couple people waiting on the tables. Will surely be back again, given how hard it is to find a lounge that is both swanky and laid back, without the crowds in the West Village. Nix that, it’s hard to find a lounge like that ANYWHERE.

Went here for my wife’s birthday. It’s a laid back lounge with decently priced drinks. We had plenty of space for our 30 or so guests so if you have a large party this is a venue to consider. The atmosphere is non-clubby and the music isn’t overwhelmingly loud — you can definitely carry a conversation without shouting in the other person’s ear. The décor is swank, but more worn than it appears in photos. It didn’t seem to get overcrowded here even on a Friday night. Expect a decent sized crowd that fills the space just enough. No complaints about Dove Parlour from me. It’s a decent lounge space for groups if you’re looking for slightly discounted drink prices

I wish I could have tried this place since the reviews are so good, but unfortunately we didn’t make it past the front door. Let me tell you a story: My girlfriend and I got here a little after 4pm on a Friday, and since the website says it opens at 4pm, we were more than ready to sit down for a cocktail after a long week and needed a bar with space enough for friends to join us later. We tried to open the door and it was locked. The bartender inside held up his hand«5,» which we figured meant 5 more minutes. We waited a half hour, and came back to a locked door. The same guy, long blonde hair with tattoos(didn’t give his name) poked his head out and asked if he could help us. Ummmm yeah? We want to come in and drink? He said«ok» and blankly stared at us. «So… can we come in?» He told us they don’t open until 5. When we politely told him the website says 4, he shot back«well I don’t manage the website» and slammed the door and locked it. We moved our soon-to-be party of 8 down the street and took our business to the Half Pint and had a great night. Dove Parlour, learn some manners!

This is a pretty unassuming cocktail lounge located a few steps down from street level in the midst of fratboy NYU bars, a welcome relief and good find for this area. Upon entering they said we could sit anywhere but that if it got crowded we might have to share our space. I was here at an odd hour like 6pm on a Saturday, so the crowd was older and the music geared towards the age group. At 8pm the music kicked up with some Goldfrapp. There was a girl dressed as a flapper in the back, I really can’t explain that but she fit right in with the décor. Cocktails and organic wine were $ 11, beers $ 7. The cocktail list had about 10 choices, were well varied, gin, vodka, bourbon, a little bit of everything with flavors like basil, gin and lavender; pretty creative without going overboard with too many ingredients. My lavender cocktail tasted like soap, but it was lavender so really that isn’t exactly a complaint. Service was attentive, but it also wasn’t crowded. The chair were cushy and we were right up front in a window seat which was cozy.
