I’d passed this joint many times on my way to the post office and always loved the big band/crooner music blasting from outside speakers. Curt, the owner, is a true delight to deal with: kind, extremely helpful and knowledgeable on many of the books on sale. His book selection is HUUUUGE! Set aside more than 10mins to browse: even if you come for a bio, romance novel or cooking book, trust me, you’ll leave with SO much more, due to selection, great suggestions and unbeatable prices. The most expensive book I’ve ever paid for was $ 8, which is in new condition. I haven’t had knives or scissors sharpened yet, but it’s great to know the service is available, given the fact that it’s one of the very few available in the neighborhood.

Really great little used bookshop. The owner Curt is a friendly fellow and was playing some big-band music when we visited. We got around 7 books(mostly classic literature) for $ 12, but there is a bit of everything. This is the only English-language book shop in Ridgewood as far as I know, unless you count the beauty salon on Myrtle. They also sharpen knives and scissors and fix appliances.

I stumbled by mistake upon this tiny storefront on an out-of-the way street, and I’m so glad I did. The owner hailed me on the street and invited me inside, where he detailed the contents of the shop, primarily used books. He may have a small selection(his flier says«over 2,500 titles» but it’s a good selection! I bought 18 books. His prices are great, e.g. $ 10 for a gorgeous, full color coffee-table book on Jackie O, and $ 1 for most paperbacks. As icing on the cake, he also does scissor and knife sharpening, and key duplication. I highly recommend this delightful little place.
