I love this art gallery, it’s a great place of you need to kill an hour or so when you’re waiting for your spot in a brunch restaurant or something. totally intimidating at first but there’s basically no workers except 1 or 2 people in a small room so no judgement

I don’t know if I can say The Hole is your typical art gallery area in the NOHO area but I was here for a party that got ratchet. It was a music performance, many Dj’s on deck and a lot of alcohol for some people to get to try. I got to meet up with some old friends in the party scene, catch up to my main brooklyn peeps who came out for this one too. This one only had the art is the very far back room but on a regular day I hear the owner is very nice and the art pieces are worth checking out. Next time I am in the area or here for a party will definitely love to come back to The Hole(didn’t sound too dirty, right). I heard that it normally showcases two different exhibits a month and sells books and odds and ends stuff right in the front near entrance.

So, I went here last night for a Fashion Week event curated by Office. Pretty cool space, I thought the layout was alright. Drinks were provided by Stoli, Heineken and Perrier so that was a nice touch. Not sure where all the art was… there were a few big paintings in the back room and a random thing in the middle of the second to last room. The lighting and acoustics from the DJ were really nice. I’d be interested in going back on a normal night when they have an exhibit up.

What a joke. Snotty«receptionist» who did not bother to look up as I entered the«gallery». Two other morbidly hip dudes were in the back on puters, too cool to acknowledge me. The show was call«Portraits». I like some of them. But the vibe was only an ass would spend money at the«hole».

Came for the Giverny exhibit and saw the place transformed, v cool textural elements. However, I didn’t care for the multiple staff sitting at the front engrossed in their laptops that didn’t have a moment to look up and say welcome when we came in and paused at the front. I get it, it’s the EV and you’re too cool to actually greet anyone, but here this — the only reason why you’re there is for people to come see. Don’t ruin the exhibit before crowds even walk through.

This place was so trippy! 3 stars because I am still trying to process what happened. So odd to be strolling though the«garden» while looking at the art. I really liked that, though. The little pond and bridge was so unexpected. The main exhibit was quite… ummmm…naked, but I really appreciated the symmetry and natural backgrounds. I didn’t get the exhibit in the back room. Must have been beyond my limited artistic sensibilities. But, the indoor garden is definitely worth checking out.

I’m not convinced. Look, I’m no artist. At least not in the«creating things with my bare hands» sense. But this place was whack. An unmanned desk at the door under the giant list of artists contributing to the show. The current«exhibit» is an empty room with a Warhol derivative giant woman’s face on one side of the room and a vending machine of art in the back. In this vending machine are such treasures as: old fireworks packages(ok, a little cool), a shotglass containing a mustache hair, a magic marker«used by the artist in his studio», various overly self-congratulatory t-shirts promoting the exhibit, and some prints of California«noir» scenes, as the art student who finally greeted me explained to me. I’m not sure she knew what noir meant, because they were lightly cheery beach/surfboard adverts. I think the art fell into the hole of this gallery because I didn’t see any.
