Pretty good publication. A little ‘dandy’ for me.
The real estate section is nothing other than depressing (for those of us without money).
The New York Observer is the kid who went to Princeton then moved to New York to do something fabulous. Started abusing drugs. Found himself. And now wears khakis and has a crappy body. Also, he secretly wants to be Paris Hilton.

Make no mistake. The salmon hue isn’t just reserved for the Financial Times, that über-​Euro financial daily. New York City’s upper east side, media-​centric culturati can also read on salon-​colored paper.
The Observer is notable for several reasons. Among them, Tom Scocca’s «Off the Record» writing, the Transom, the public and legal notices (Is the Observer the only paper to have nailed this exclusive?), the solid real estate news, Rex Reed’s film reviews, and the proto-​snarky Eight-​Day Week calendar listing.
Any media dietician or New Yorkest worth her salt should read the Observer.
The Observer now has a young, seemingly scrappy publisher. Change may be afoot.
