Very bland and not worth the price. Take a circular pita, 60% the size of a crunch wrap, fill the top half with lettuce, fill the bottom with bland cubed chicken and onion, skimp on the tahini sauce, have the chicken liquid cause the pita bottom to break open, and charge $ 10 and you have a Pita Grill chicken shawarma sandwich. Not like a chicken shawarma sandwich I have ever had…

I had high hopes for this place because their sign outside says they have the best falafel in the area… Unfortunately this just wasn’t true. The pita falafel pocket was soggy, falling apart, overpowered by onions, and too chewy. It also took way too long to get my food… Even though it was to go. This place is sadly nothing but average at most.

very disappointing delivery and made me look completely irresponsible in front of my clients!!! 2.5 hour delay. net net, they shouldn’t do delivery. period! called at 11am to confirm they could accommodate a 7 person order for 1:30 at the address given. he said no, i said says no problem, so he says ok well order from there. processes the order no problem and it goes to this pita grill. clearly there’s a disconnect. they need to not be on stating they can do it when they can’t. pedro at pita was very cordial and kind. however when i called they hung up on me and then let the phone ring when i called back. i called again and he said he’s very busy, not my problem, again, don’t do delivery. cut your losses. you’re going to get bad reviews and not be relied on. i’m forgiving. why? because i read some of the delivery issues on but ordered anyway, dumb too. more than half my job requires me to feed people, so i get it, but don’t snow me. don’t tell me it’s on the way and two hours later we’re all still waiting. so having something like this happen is not good. he lost business and i can’t recommend. the delivery guy was very apologetic, not his fault at all. i was 4 miles away/20 minute drive. put the guy in a cab. i would have tipped him $ 20bucks.

I love this place! Every order is made fresh and their felafel are fried to perfection and so are their fries. The staff is friendly and they provide excellent customer service. The restaurant is always clean and it’s the perfect place for a great quiet lunch. I will definitely return, between the food and the fresh juices this place is a winner!

Its sad to give this place such a low rating but the food is not great at all. Im only basing my food review on my orders of there platters and there falafel since that is all I have tried here. I usually go there only because it is convenient to my workplace but the falafel and hummus my usual order doesn’t taste fresh. That crunchy freshness you expect when you bite into a falafel ball is kind of mushy. The salad and vegetables are just bland and not fresh. They used to have a well priced special on a poster outside where you can get a falafel and a drink, I’m not sure if they still do. If you are used to authentic lamb/chicken platter etc. don’t waste your time with the platters here. Meat is dry. Food quality regardless of price being fair it is not good. They do make fresh smoothies but Ive never tried them before. Service wait time varies which can be bad if you have somewhere to go like back to work. The décor is very standard, they have high tables and low tables and the front is open glass so you can get a good view of the busy NYC streets. If your looking for a sub-standard falafel, Mediterranean… well, definitely not authentic then this is your place.

I ordered the fish burger deluxe which was like 13.50+ and it was a small(almost like a slider size) burger and barely half the amount of fries I thought I paid for. :(The burger was OK, nothing to write home about but a measly review on Unilocal lol. Meh! sorta disappointed to know this opened close to home and still won’t be my #1 go to place for a great fish burger. Best of luck to those trying it for the first time like I did!

Worst place ever. Ordered the salmon salad, which I’ve had before, on Seamless. Instead of salmon, mango, feta, cherry tomatoes and avocado, as the menu describes, I received a salad of limp iceberg lettuce, pineapple rings, rotten avocado and pale/mealy sliced tomatoes. And about 3 small bites of chopped up salmon. This craptastic salad cost $ 15. It is 100% different from how it has arrived before. Oh and it took 1 hour to be delivered(10 blocks). I called to complain and the woman I talked to was rude and defensive, and did nothing to help. Never order from here. This is New York. Places this inferior should not survive.

Tl: dr — Fantastic service! Great food! Generous catering! Made me look really good to my team of professionals. I must be missing something because I can’t understand why this place got low ratings. I had the most pleasant experience ordering a party platter for a team of about 10 fashion photoshoot– related professionals. At first I was a little wary due to the low ratings, but it seemed to be the only place around that catered non messy food at an affordable price. I checked out the Unilocal photos and saw a platter of pita sandwiches for $ 80 and decided to get that. I wanted to order another platter of babaganuch and other dips that I saw in the photos, but that was another $ 40 according to the menu, and I didn’t have enough in my budget. When I called(a day before the shoot), the owner was busy and asked if he could call me back an hour later. I was worried he would forget to call me back but he did and at the time he promised and I made my order. I told them to deliver around 12:30−1pm, expecting that they would be a little late. But instead, they were perfectly on time which really surprised me. Now here’s the clincher for me. Very important — must read! I ordered the party platter expecting one round platter of about 10 pita sandwiches like I saw in the photos. What arrived instead, were not one, but TWO of those pita sandwich platters AND a platter of the babaganuch dips I originally wanted plus three tubs of different sauces. One of the sauces was this special flavor I’ve only ever had overseas and really missed because I haven’t found it here in NY. Needless to say, I was super impressed, and my photoshoot team was well fed and happy. The Original Pita Grill made me look like a generous host/organizer. I would order from them again in a heartbeat if I organized another event near the area. Well done TOPG!

I decided to order 30 minutes before picking up my order because the Estimated time ranged between 10 – 35 minutes. I paid for my meal via Unilocal and received a confirmation. Unfortunately when I got to pita grill, my order was still not ready and I was told that the prices on the Unilocal eat 24 app were incorrect and was charged the difference. This is not the customer’s fault, those prices need to be corrected. I only ordered from this place because of the advertised price, I thought I was going to get a quick and cheap meal [also, the location was convenient at the time…] yet, that was not the case, although the prices are wallet friendly, I could have went elsewhere for a comparable meal. There were a few people waiting for their order, but only two staff members were working(Sunday evening, around 8:30). The woman behind the register had to find my order amongst a pile of other pending orders. They were efficient and friendly, but overwhelmed. Given the situation, it was totally understandable why my order wasn’t ready, but this type of management is unfair to the employees and customers. The menu for pita grill is all over the place, Middle East/Asian Fusion/Mexican…but overall, it wasn’t bad, just standard – the falafel was fresh, not dry.

It was past 1pm, well into the lunch hour. And yet the very item that is being advertised at the front door — falafel pita combo — was still being prepared and not ready to be sold. So I got a chicken schwarma pita instead but without the tahini sauce it was supposed to come with. The chicken was grilled well but tasteless. Nothing special about the pita. All in all disappointing food. I do love the interior of the restaurant tho, which gets 4 stars, but I don’t wanna mislead people thinking it’s for the food.

2.5 stars. Very ok Mediterranean restaurant on Amsterdam. They’ve got a good amount of vegetarian options, which is good, but the quality of the food isn’t amazing. The Greek salad was super oily(though the portion was large), the pita wasn’t great, and the falafel was merely ok(only slightly better than cart falafel). In addition, the service here has been pretty unfriendly and slow both times I’ve been here. They do deliver, and if you get delivery from their website they provide a 10% off code, which would make me excited if the food quality was better than it is. I might use that 10% off sometime soon, but that’s the only incentive I can think of to motivate someone to eat here — in my opinion, I’d stay away and grab some food at Amir’s on Broadway. The quality and service are far better.

I have only eaten at Pita Grill during a training session for my work– they ordered a large take out order and I FELLINLOVE. I ate like fistfuls of the grilled chicken pita and many of their pita dips/spreads like their hummus, babaganoush, and feta cheese dip(which by the way tastes like heaven itself). I obviously stuck with the grilled chicken pita(while some people went for the falafel pita– I don’t know why) because it is what they are known for! After eating about 4 or 5 pitas, I now know why it made them famous. They are SO delicious that it makes me want to make it my go-to spot for lunch! I dabbled over to the salad a bit too(which was the Fattoush Salad) and I have never experienced anything like it. I loved the little pieces of pita included in the salad. It made for a pleasant experience. Everything I ate from The Original Pita Grill was satisfactory and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good lunch/dinner!

Ordered the Hawaiian chicken pita for delivery. The food was delivered right on time. Pretty much that’s the only thing good about this place. The chicken was burned, pineapple dint taste good & and the bread was a little too hard. Pretty bad experience

Ordered the Lamb Gyro with fries and I would say it was alright at best. The lamb is underseasoned and the tzatziki sauce was also alright with the gyro. I had also ordered fries as a side and they were overcooked. Unfortunately, I’d probably go as far as saying the lamb gyros from the street trucks are a much better tasting option:/

I bought i the spinach pie and falafel sandwich here. It was a decent quality and average priced. Overall, it’s pretty average. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. This is not a place I would crave but more a place I would go to out of convenience if I want quick middle eastern food or am looking for vegetarian options because they have a decent amount of vegetarian food.

I entered hopeful and left regretful. Food — Ordered the grilled chicken pita which apparently«made us famous». It was two pieces of doughy and generic pita,(barely) decent grilled chicken, dry lettuce/tomatoes, and dry brown rice. Service — Unfriendly and distracted, chatting on the phone while she take our order. Also got out order initially wrong, delivering us somebody else’s order. Price — Spent around $ 15 for the grilled chicken platter and a water. Definitely not worth it in my opinion. Save your money and eat elsewhere!

If only the food was as good as the restaurants atmosphere, then there wouldn’t be a problem We tried the hamburger and lamb burger. They were both very bland The French fries were decent The smoothies are lacking, 75% ice

If you are thinking about stopping by and eating here, DON’T. Walk another avenue to Chipotles or another street to Roti Roll. Both of which are much better options than this place. I ordered tandoori chicken wrap with salad. The whole thing along with a can of soda was 9.75. Which was not too bad I suppose. But the taste made it not worth it. The wrap was really bland, so bland that I suspected whoever made it might have forgotten to put the sauce. It is supposed to come with mango chutney, which I thought was supposed to be similar to a jam, but instead there were tiny pieces of mango that seemed like they were just randomly tossed into the wrap. The whole wrap tasted weird. Enough said. Not coming back.

Pan-Asian, Middle Eastern, and(presumably) Mexican Fish Tacos on the menu. What could go wrong, right? It ends up being a smörgåsbord nightmare. By trying everything, they get it all wrong. The kitchen has neither an Asian, nor Middle Eastern, nor Latino touch. Bland and in the middle. Perhaps what chop suey(does anyone even eat that any more?) tastes like when cooked in Ohio. Wait that wasn’t the right analog, but you know what I meant. Tyranny of the median.

If there were an option to give 0 stars. enough said. ordered off seamless and got something from another restaurant, or so i thought based on the stark difference between my food received and the picture painted for me on the menu. Ordered the Falafel pita which came with lettuce, tomatoes, tahini etc. it was a pita which was soggy from the wet lettuce, making it stick to the falafel like glue, thankfully there were only 2 falafel balls. The sandwich was dry, no tahini, no tomato, no onion. just wet lettuce, less than 1⁄100th of a cucumber. Got the california hummus. which was a slap in the face to the word hummus. I ordered it because it had jalepenos, lemon, lime, etc. i would be shocked to hear it had salt. it was green, tasteless, over priced and came with one pita which for mysterious reasons was also wet??? BIGGESTLETDOWNEVER.
