The UPS Store

Worst store ever. Bought a ups shipping label. Brought in the item and my envelope and they refused to give me two pieces of tape to ship it. Said I had to pay for it or come back. DO NOT GO THERE.

Find it deep in the back of the lower level of Toys R Us, past the weird ice cream shop. Not busy when I was there at noon, and again at 6pm on a weekday. Prompt and competent service. Convenient location if you work around Times Square, although it takes a minute to walk through the toy store lobby to get there.

The 9:30 PM last drop off is great. However, the last two times I have used this store (because of the late drop off) I have not been able to track my shipment. Per my client, both times, I shipped using UPS Ground. They were only going across town, here in New York. Yet the shipments were delayed and it was a long time before they showed up in UPS’s tracking system. On the surface, it was as if they dumped my package in a back room pile and got to it when they felt like it.
The thing is, I used this store because of the last drop time. Yet, it seems it would not have mattered if I had waited and gone to the UPS store, or drop box, up the street the next day. At least there, I know I can track my packages and I know there won’t be any delays.
The first time the delays and non-​trackability happened, I wrote it off as an anomaly. This is UPS. Logistics is their business. However on the second time, I am very disappointed.

i wouldn’t use these guys if I didn’t have to. They have tight constraints over their supplies, eg, I ask for an envelope and they won’t give me any even though I come here every now and then (although I expect to use them more frequently going forward). This is annoying given that Fedex readily gives people supplies, no questions asked. How am I supposed to use the service? just ridiculous. Service is ok enough, just that the shipping supply situation is annoying and they aren’t conveniently located. Why do you think there are more Fedexes than UPS stores? oh, their pickup time is usually early too as opposed to 9PM for most Fedexes. uggh.
