The UPS Store

Young kid who works there has a poor attitude and never opens up on schedule. Last time I dropped in I had a prepaid label but still wanted to charge me then snapped at me for trying to explain to him why he was wrong. Went to another ups store and they took it for free. This is the second time I’ve had a similar issue here and now refuse to go back.

Every time I have to use this UPS to drop something off with a prepaid label, the young man who opens the store in morning is always late. I have waited over 20 minutes on numerous occasions, a couple times I had to give up and lug my package to work on the subway. A real pain. When I mentioned to him that I was waiting for the store to open in the morning he wasn’t apologetic at all and had a attitude. I guess he is the owner’s son, because I don’t know how he gets away with it. 8:30 AM is not to early, especially in the shipping business.

Was there tonight — needed to scan 70 pages to PDF in a hurry for work… the man working there was nice, polite, price up front… in and out in 5 minutes… Asked for a card and plan to revisit — -lived in the neighborhood for 15 years and just found this place tonight…

Confirming Denise’s review that the place is never open at 8:30am, even though it says on their website and the sticker on the window that they should be. This has happened to me twice now, and finally today I realized that there is a Staples on 87^th and Lex just a block away which opens at 7am (and actually is open when they say they will be). They have UPS drop off, as well as a wide range of other services. I would advise everyone to just go there instead, as I did. The woman who was working there at Staples today was cheerful and competent. Needless to say I’ll never go back to this UPS Store.

This location is supposed to be open at 8:30. It says so on the web site and on the window. I cannot tell you how many times I have waited at least 10 minutes for someone to arrive so I could drop off my package. When I have to wait, it makes me late for work. Often, I could not wait any longer and I had to lug whatever package (s) I had onto the subway and then to work because whoever is supposed to be there at 8:30 can’t be bothered to get to work on time.
In addition, if you need to drop off a USPS package, it will cost you $ 5 for them to walk down the block from Lex to 3^rd to drop it off. (I would go there, myself, but the post office doesn’t open until 9am). When the location on 3^rd b/​w 91^st & 92^nd was open, they never charged for dropping off USPS packages.

I tend to avoid blasting businesses on Unilocal,unless something is clearly over the line.
I stopped in with a small item. I asked the young guy, who I believe is referenced in other reviews, if he had a large shipping bag, or a small box. A very simple request. (I had the label, as it was a return)
I was abruptly told there’d be a «packaging fee» of $ 11.95.
I had a bit of a laugh, and just asked to buy a box, explaining that I didn’t need him to «package» it for me. I put the item in the box, started to affix the label and close up the box, when he arrogantly said it’d be $ 8 for a single piece of tape, to fully seal the parcel.
I unpacked the item, gave him back his box, and simply walked out. There’s a post office 4 blocks away, a FedEx in the area as well, not to mention numerous options by my office as well.
So needless to say, Mr. Packaging Expert & Tape Extortionist won’t be seeing me again.

«You got ripped off,» says my lawyer.
«Well, of course I did,» I think. «I just overnighted you 4 pages of legal mumbo-​jumbo.»
But it turns out that I paid $ 43 for the privilege, when UPS’s online listed price is $ 25. That’s just unconscionable.
I don’t care how nice these guys are, I’m not using their services again. Unless the lawyer’s paying.

I shipped something from that store yesterday and the two guys working there were super-​friendly, plus they had a bowl of (large/​wrapped) chocolate candies on the counter for customers.

Awesome customer service at this center. They take care of everything and are nice as they come.
