The Windsor Florist II

A male friend gave me a hug in front of this place as I had just gotten surgery at the hospital down the street. One of the workers was sweeping outside and gave us a disapproving look and shook his head, then stared us down. WTH? For one, how dare he assume anything about me or my friend. Secondly, that’s not even an okay response no matter what he thought. I would not recommend this place to gays or their allies, nor to any of my friends as long as they have such an unwelcoming atmosphere.

An old family friend from Paris sent (via TeleFlora) a beautiful white orchid plant to our family for the holidays. It was delivered to the wrong address (to the building across the street from us) but as it turned out that was the least of our problems.
Once the delivery situation was sorted out, we unpacked the plant. One of the blooms in the back was a little flaccid but it didn’t seem like something to complain about, after all the plant was covered with flowers. As it turned out that flaccid bloom was the first indication that something was wrong.
A day later it was clear that flower was a gonner. But then a day after that another flower went limp, and so on and so forth.
We have other orchid plants in the house and know that this is not normal for a brand new fresh orchid plant. I was hesitant at first to call the florist. But knowing how expensive it was for our friend to gift us this plant I decided to let the florist know. Unfortunately the man I spoke to was not helpful. He claimed to be the owner but kept asking in spanish how he should proceed to some other gentleman in the shop. Repeatedly I asked to speak to whomever he was talking to, since it was apparent that although he claimed to be the owner he was not the decision maker. But unfortunately he would not come to the phone.
Before hanging up he wished me «a good day» and a «thanks for calling». I told him it was not necessary to add insult to injury. I was not a happy customer but a very disapointed one.
Their website uses terms like «You can trust The Windsor Florist II…», «your trusted local florist», this sentence even has the word trust twice «Our network of trusted florists even offer trusted floral delivery nationwide.» And «…so don’t settle for anything less than the best.» As it turned out just platitudes and empty promises.
