Delicious espresso but the space is unbelievably noisy. Dance music, incredibly loud baristas chatting with each other as people waited, and echoey walls makes it hard to enjoy the drink, ya know?

Great ice coffee! I love the environment here as well. The place is usually fairly empty and they have one huge table to work on. The two girls at the front are super friendly and sweet. I really like this place and it is only my first time here. I will be coming back again.

Nice local spot, not crowded, spacious with plenty of light. Good spot to hangout and do some work. I had their cold brew which tasted good, nothing spectacular. I would say I love the quiet environment and local neighborhood vibe. Nice respite from the crazy crowded Starbucks atmosphere.

Favorite coffee joint thus far! Try their mocha, it’s delicious! You’ll also see quite a few dogs and their owner walking in, so that’s a plus. They also have big glass windows to view outside which is a plus! Con: No wifi :(

I came in looking for good coffee and left with great coffee. I didn’t wait on a line. The guy behind the counter chatted me up while I made a decision. He didn’t rush me or just stare at me while I chose what coffee to get. I decided on the iced coffee and it was nice. I chased my coffee with a donut what a fat man I am. The donut was great. It was fresh, light, and huge. The place is nice to go in and read a paper paper or chat with people. I was working so I was on the run. The music was good which is also a plus. The price was not as bad as I thought considering it’s the city. Check them out.

A simple yet hearty coffee shop right at the corner. Only tried their Americano but people kept mentioning to me how good the pastries here are… I guess that is worth one more visit! They do have some small tables(and a bench) inside however it is usually very crowded during the weekends. Suggest to grab-n-go.

Always great coffee and great atmosphere. It’s a mix of campers, families and non plugged single people getting their caffeine on.

— Very friendly barista — Plenty of light through the big window and good music — Many seats in the shop(good for study or meet-up) — Americano tastes great. Strong aroma and a touch a sweetness from the beans.

Third Rail gets 5 stars for the coffee but the music was playing so loud I couldn’t enjoy sitting in the store to drink it. They serve excellent coffee from a roaster whose name is escaping me. I started with a pour over made with a Rwandan coffee. It was a nice, bright cup that only comes from a lighter roast. It was excellent. I also had a drip that was Indonesian. Also a very nice cup. I only wish the music wasn’t so loud. I was hoping to enjoy a relaxing morning wake up on a beautiful morning but I couldn’t with Santigold blasting away. I’m sure I could have asked them to turn down the music but I just left and sat across the street on a bench. I’ll definitely return for the coffee, even if I don’t sit in the restaurant.

Excellent brew. Drip, pour over, latte… whatever your style they do it all right here! I also enjoyed a madeline in the shape of a bear. Nice texture, buttery.

Lady who takes the orders is awesome(barista not so much) i complained about my ice coffee today and she actually took a sip of it to help offer an explanation and was super nice the whole time(note to self: never add half and half to cold brew… Sticking with milk! Ended up with a latte and it was fantastic. Barista did not GAF.

My favorite lattes(regular/soy/almond) in East Village, albeit pricey as with most Manhattan coffee shops these days. Service is alright and really dependent on the barista serving you, but the lattes more than make up for it! They have a decent selection of pastries, as well as Doughnut Plant donuts. Space is pretty small and there aren’t any bathrooms. No wifi provided either. However, it’s generally easy to grab a table to yourself in the late afternoon on a weekday(around 4−5PM), and I have managed to get a decent amount of work done here.

Great latte. No bathroom. No wifi. Guess they don’t want you to stick around, despite there being lots of space(by NYC standards, anyway).

Got a latte with heart design. Not bad but wish they filled it up to the top on an already super small cup. No bathrooms or wifi here. Windows fog up inside.

Went here just to kill time before Ippudos opened around the corner but so glad we did! One of the best lattes I’ve had! Got the almond latte and it was nice a smooth and exactly how you want your latte. There was even a small art heart on it. Both the regular and large have 2 shots of espresso so you just get more milk in the bigger one. I got the regular and thought it was the perfect milk: espresso ratio. So if you get the large, I would get another shot of espresso. The baristas were very friendly and seem down to earth. Def stop by!

I’ve walked past Third Rail a handful of times as it is on the way to a friend’s place. So, my boyfriend and I finally stopped in today. We ordered a cold brew, iced latte, butter croissant, and a ham + cheese croissant. The ridiculously hip barista that made the $ 5 iced latte didn’t even fill the already tiny cup. And on top of that, it was too milky. The cold brew was average. Lastly, they didn’t have anything to heat up the pastries, which was a disappointment. I would not recommend Third Rail, unless you’re into mediocre hipster service.

Outstanding coffee… I heard about this place as an interested watcher of one(?) of their barista, Mike’s Youtube videos of How To series in coffee making. And what do you know, my place is literally a block from this place, and I pass by it everyday to the subway station. So, leaving for work half hour early, I stopped by here to get a cup of Americano. A fairly spartan, modern-looking interior has cement floors, row of bar counter and stools all along couple sides of walls, and a table for 4. So it’s not a big place. Outlets are ample for the laptops. The coffee is on the expensive side — $ 3.50 I think for the«large» Americano which is… 12 oz? — but not outrageous. The aroma and taste though… full of deep flavor and medium body, it went down so smoothly! And what the barista did while pouring, created swirls with the crema that looked so cool! How do you do that on an Americano? I didn’t pay attention to his pouring but next time I am going to. I also had a croissant which don’t think was freshly baked but still tasted pretty darn good. Best coffee I’ve had in the last few months, since Sambalatte I think.

Love this newer location right near Stuy Street. It’s literally twice the size of the other 3rd rails I’ve been too and has decent amount of seating at most times. The coffee is still top notch wherever you go. Their blends and straight up drip coffee is strong just the way I like it. Good selection of pastries that are a little costly at around $ 5 – 6 a piece but hell for a nice light breakfast with coffee on the side I’ll take it! The baristas here are not complete coffee snobs and are really amiable! Yo also major brownie points for throwing it back to SHAGGY playlist couple days ago!

I got a Doughnut Plant donut here and an iced coffee. Coffee: Delicious! I really loved the flavor of the coffee. It was fresh, not too bitter, not sour, and not too watery. Donut: I got the vanilla glazed donut here. It was a little disappointing as I heard Doughnut Plant donuts are really amazing. It seemed a stale. Don’t recommend getting donuts from here, rather get them at the actual Doughnut Plant store.

Love this place. Love coming here after yoga to grab a cortado. You can always grab a sit and enjoy your Counter Culture coffee. Very chill ambiance and there’s usually plenty of lighting. Cute latte art. Hipstery crowd. The baristas are usually funny and sarcastic, and they also seem to enjoy their job. I think they serve donut plant donuts, which is a great plus. You can get a free pastry if you come here next to closing time. I’m not sure about the wifi situation, but I think I would get a lot of work done here.
