Tisch Chidren’s Zoo

This is a really great place to take your kids or even adults (as long as they are excited about getting to pet farm animals).I had come here with friends and their lil boy was absolutely thrilled at getting to feed the animals. Its a small place and you would probably take less than 30 mins to complete the tour. Its not worth coming all the way to Central Park just for this but once you are done with the zoo and the 4D show, this is a nice way to finish the trip and keep the kids happy. The feed is provided on the premises and its only a quarter to get a handful.
My favorite part of this zoo were the goats since they actually seemed to have character. Two of the goats were obvious bullies n were prancing about headbutting the quiet ones trying to pick a fight and the quiet ones were asking to be left alone. I kid you not (see what I did there?!).Thats exactly what it looked like. The other animals just stood around looking bored till they got food pellets and the pigs were too lazy to stand up. There’s a trampoline for children to jump about on and the kids seemed to be having fun.(I would have too had they allowed me on!)
Now if you get to visit an actual farm, you should choose that over coming here but since Midtown is not exactly known for its spacious farms, I suppose you should settle for this!

There is animal food u can buy at the quarter machine and feed the animals, kids will love it because the animals never get full from eating all day lol

Small little intimate petting zoo with a few key farm animals! There’s a cow, a few goats, 2 pigs, a few sheeps. My kids had more fun here than in the bigger zoo alone. They let you feed the animals, and the food is located in the quarter machines around the zoo; 50¢ for about 10pcs.
I also like how they have some areas for cute pictures. There is a turtle sculpture with some big hatched eggs where my kids jumped right into them thinking they were the hatched baby turtles. Keep walking and you’ll see the rabbit ones, you stick your head in ‘em looking like a rabbit yourself. Then some empty turtle shells, you get the point, crawl into them and you’re the turtle haaahaaha.
The admission is included in the admission with the the bigger zoo, so make sure you stop by! You have to exit Central Park Zoo and walk past the clock, walk under the over pass and there it is to your right, you can’t miss it.

Really great little zoo. Take about a half hour to get through the whole thing and the kids love it. Don’t get me wrong… you could spend some time here. There is plenty to see and do for the little ones but we were just running through it after the Central Park Zoo.
Great time killer. There is a petting zoo within the Tisch Zoo and they have sanitizer. Lots of photo ops as well.

It’s hard to complain when you’re getting free access here. I understand there is a certain level of expectation but don’t think of it as anything other than a very small petting zoo with just a handful of animals.
It’s a mini kids zoo inside Central Park that isn’t even really apart of the main zoo. It is what it is. It’s like complaining at the free mints after your meal. Nobody should go out of their way to come here, but if you’re in Central Park and you plan on going to the zoo with your children, visit the Tisch zoo.
Lamas, bunnies, sheep all can be feed, held and petted plenty.

My favorite place to take my 18 month olds twins. They LOVE it and always have a different reaction to the animals. Lots of safe space to run around and play. will be back again soon

so much fun! if only it was bigger so they could fit more animals/​cuteness in. the goats are so friendly and the pigs are so cute and the alpacas are so pretty, i just want to play with all of them and take them all home!
there’s machine that makes change out of your dollar bills so you can get coins and then use your coins for feed, so you’re not fucked if you don’t have coins to begin with. there’s also loads of places for photo ops which is cute (ex: posing like you’re hatching out of an egg, putting your face in a rabbits body, sticking your head out of a turtle’s shell) and obviously you need to do them all, even if it means looking like a fat asshole when you get stuck in the turtle shell… ahem.
it’s definitely a fun place for the kids (or anybody who likes to feed cute animals). i’d take any tourist children who visit me here so i have an excuse to come back and play more

The Children’s zoo is just about the best place for young children in
Central Park!
In the zoo besides petting the animals which of course is the high
light, there are also story times and puppet shows for the children.

The famous Delacorte Musical Clock is right above the entrance to the children’s zoo.

We went here today after visiting the Central Park Zoo (admission for the Tisch Zoo is included in the fee for the regular zoo). It was a rainy day so maybe the animals were a bit less active, but I wasn’t hugely impressed with the selection of animals that were accessible to the children.
The guinea fowl aren’t approachable and run away from children as they approach. Peacocks? Not real friendly creatures, either. There were waterfowl in the main entrance, but the foliage was so high that the 3 year old couldn’t see anything.
The catfish display was down — a small disappointment added to the mix. The only animals that actually came out to be petted were a very reluctant llama (or alpaca?) and two goats. We really expected a bit more in terms of «hands on» animals for the children… and were sort of let down in this regard. Especially so as it’s called a petting zoo by many online sources.
I was blown away by how little feed you get for 50 cents, too. I realize that the animals might get portly being fed all day by the hoards of visitors, but the amount was barely a quarter handful.
The main zoo is the main event between the two. Don’t get your hopes up too much with this one.

Okay I have to be honest and say I had way more fun in the Children’s Zoo than at the Central Park Zoo and I don’t have kids yet. Aaaaghh, I can’t wait to bring my chitlins here someday!
