I’ve encountered rude but these individuals selling the not so discounted tickets are bitches. I ended up purchasing 2 tickets to Kinky Boots because it was my Mom’s first NYC Broadway experience for $ 180. If she wasn’t here, I wouldn’t even waste my money buying it here. There’s no need to be rude to people paying for your Shit job!

I always thought when you went to new York that you had to get your tickets in person in times square– so as soon as we got not town we went straight there to get them– we learned while talking t the people that it could be de all via the app now! Meeting them in person though did save $ 10 a ticket. It was easy and slick, great tickets

Great source for discounts! Tips:
1. Get the app which gives real time availability of tickets and discount level – it is usually, but not always 50% off – 30% and 40% discounts are used by more popular shows
2. The nonmusical line is much shorter – the musical line is often 60 minutes
3. Return within 7 days with a tkts stub and go to the front of the line
4. Do not get to the window without a Plan B, as tickets sell out before the board is updated
5. Do not ask ticket clerks for suggestions and have your form of payment ready – they want to get on to the next customer ASAP
6. Line is much shorter late in the day, although selection is less
7. Check tickets before walking away
8. Ignore posters who claim tkts only sells orchestra seats – utterly false and it is important to know where the seats are before buying

To all our Broadway-​virgin friends: Go to the play/musical’s website and buy your tickets from there. Here are why:
— Looooong… looooooooong lines at TKTS booths. I got here half an hour before the opening time and still have to wait an hour in total in a rainy afternoon. When it comes to 50% off tickets, people become very persistent.
— Because the opening time of the booth is in the afternoon, they only sell same-​day evening tickets, which means your shows will start at 7−8pm. You may get matinée (noontime) of the next day at the booth, but if you have time, why not buy tickets from the website???
— Off-​broadway is minimum $ 40/​ticket, Broadway is minimum $ 75/​ticket. This means that the only seats TKTS have are in the Orchestra area. The view is theoretically nice, but the price tag can be over budget for some people. If you buy your tickets beforehand from the website, you can choose your seat, choose your hour, and know exactly how much you have to pay. The cheapest tickets in Broadway can go as low as $ 30.

Great place to buy affordable tickets to great shows. We bought tickets for Les Miz and our seats were great. Of course you’re not going to find tickets for the most popular shows but still they have pretty good options

Great place to get discounted Broadway and off-​Broadway tickets. They only sell for same-​day tickets and it is gwnrally approximately 50% off. Everytime I visit New York, which is now about once a year, I always stop by to get tickets to a musical here. They do not have tickets to the more popular shows but they have quite a variety. There are lots of knowledgeable people that guide you towards a musical selection that you will enjoy.
Lines move pretty quickly.

This is a great way to purchase Bway tickets at half price. Although tickets are half price, they are off the highest price ticket at the show. You can use their app to see the discounts in real time. Alway a show watching people in the square.

I’ve only been to the tkts in time square and it is a busy place. Wich I explain in a bit. Look at the screen and you can see ahead what tickets they have or go to the app on your phone and see. Kind of have an idea of three shows in your head when you get to the window. Don’t let them pressure or rush you. You really need to take your time and not worry how long you take deciding because once you walk away that is it. Depending on the show the tickets are discounted pretty good. We went there the other day and Matilda wasn’t good seats and not the greatest price. I sometimes I do better going directly to theater and asking for discount tickets, Rush tickets, lottery at theater or on line lottery. We missed the lottery at the theater but went to the box office and asked if they had any after lottery discounted tickets. We got orchestra row L on the side 2for $ 80. TKTS was double that price.

came here to purchase tickets around 7pm. I would describe this as the Black Friday of ticket purchasing as there is no line, no order, and no one guiding the crowd.

Purchased 2 $ 80 tickets for a show at 8pm. Ticket agent got me a ticket for $ 2pm instead.
When I tried to exchange the tickets they blamed me for getting the wrong tickets! I was accused of not checking my tickets the second they were sold to me. And I was called «messed up» for waiting a day to change my ticket.
They refused to refund me or even change it for another day. This is absurd!
Make sure you double check what the agent purchases for you because TKTS does not take responsibility for their own mistakes.
They should consider tweaking their customer service policy because the treatment I got was rude and unprofessional. They might also want to invest in computers instead of human agents

I’ve been here three times over the last four years. Whenever I make a trip to New York, I make sure that I see a Broadway show, and what better way to get the best seats and best deals than at TKTS.
There are three locations — Brooklyn, Times Square, and South Street Seaport. I would suggest researching which location is the closest to you and to see if you would rather watch the show during the night time or matinée. Only certain ticket booths will sell matinée for either the day of or the next day so research your preferences before you start waiting in line.
Every time I go, I check the times the booth opens and go and hour earlier. It’s nice to go with someone else in case you have to run back and forth to the bathroom or the stores. (I recommend using Starbucks bathrooms since they’re close by and the McDonald’s ones are always ridiculously packed).
The first time I went in the spring time and watched Sister Act. I sat in the front right area. The seats were pretty good, but I like sitting in the middle better. The second time I watched Newsies, which is such an entertaining musical. We sat in the left front area and they actually just added two regular seats for us, so we didn’t even get that great of a view since some structures inside the building blocked us. The third musical I watched was Kinky Boots. I watched this a few weeks ago and they let us sit in the back center orchestra.
Overall, they do offer good prices because I always pay about 50% cheaper than the actual listing prices. The seats are not always what you want because they give you what they have based on availability, but I was never disappointed with where I was sitting. Also, all the shows no matter what turn out to be really good so don’t be afraid to watch something you know nothing about! They also hand out pamphlets while you wait so it’s nice to get little synopsis of each of the musicals so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

I love the Bright Lights of New York by Broadway & West 46^th Street! I am such a tourist just snapping away taking pictures! Lol I have loved the Bright lights of New York since I was a child!

Plus d’une heure avant l’ouverture une queue énorme est déjà formée, alors si vous venez en été, n’oubliez pas de prendre de quoi vous hydrater car vous pouvez rester debout pendant plus de 2 heures en plein soleil.
Les réductions sont vraiment intéressantes mais pensez à prévoir 3 à 4 spectacles de rechange pour né pas être déçus d’avoir fait la queue pour rien.
Personnellement je suis allée voir une pièce de théâtre «of Mice and Men» (3ème choix après Hedwig and the Angry Inch et Jersey Boys) avec James Franco et Chris O’Downd et je vous le recommande

Walked up, checked the board for what was available on a Friday night. Got 10^th row and on another night 6^th row center orchestra. The reps were helpful and patient. Got my tickets in 5 mins tops and headed over to the theater. There was a big crowd around the booth but turns out most were just milling around. Just two people in front of me. Excellent customer service, ticket prices and had a fantastic time at the shows.

Still 5 stars. Still awesome. Updating because I just learned something rad: if you’ve bought a ticket at TKTS a within 7 days you can by pass the big line and go to a 7 day fast pass line by showing your ticket stub. Save yourself up to 40 minutes this way! We just learned this today when buying our last set of tickets this trip but it’s good to know for the future!

TKTS is a great company that sells broadway tickets for 30−50% off the day of the show. They offer tickets for both matinée and late night shows.
To make the best of your day show up early (8am for the matinée shows and 12pm for the 8pm shows) and you’ll be in and out before you know it. A great tip is to always check the TKTS app to see what shows they’re offering before hand and also to see the pricing.
P. S. they only take cash so be prepared.

Waited in line for 45 minutes and ended up with great tickets to a Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder FOR HALF PRICE.
TKTS is a group that helps promote access to Broadway and Off-​Broadway Shows for everyone by selling discounted tickets that the theaters have left over. I went in the winter time (and in some cold weather) so the lines weren’t nearly as long as usual. The line starts forming around 2pm and a video board will list what shows have tickets available. At 3 when the line starts, the board is continually updated with what is still available.
When you get to the front you need to know what you want and you won’t have the option to pick specific seats. It’s remarkable how many people they move through the line but they clearly do it by moving quickly. I had a list of a few shows we wanted to see, but was lucky enough that our first choice was still there. We paid $ 75 a ticket for seats 12 rows from the stage. Everyone around me seemed to pay roughly the same amount for their tickets.
There are several uniformed workers that are very helpful and will answer any question you may have. A few other tidbits, there is a specific line for plays only (non-​musicals) that is way shorter. Also if you buy a ticket then come back within a week afterward, you can show your ticket stub and skip the line entirely. Lastly, they do take all credit cards.
If there is a specific show that you want to see, then you definitely want to get tickets ahead of time. However if you want to roll the dice or have several shows you would like to see, it is definitely worth the time.

When I was younger, I had no problem waiting for discount broadway tickets for two hours outside.

What’s trippy about TKTS Times Square, while on line waiting are the characters outside trying to hustle you. They try to sell you off off OFF broadway tickets to see their shows. Some people buy into it, never ever leave your spot in line.
One time, I just got out of the military and I’m waiting in line with my girlfriend. I have these yahoos with candles chanting in the same tone as the Marine Corps Evening Colors Routine, Stop the war. stop the war. I wanted to trip one of these clowns.
Anywhoo, great place to get discounted tickets! My wife went to see her grandmother with her sister so I grabbed my boys and said lets try to get tickets for The Book of Mormon! We waited but it wasn’t happening. I said Rock of Ages or Shatner’s World?

This line actually moves quicker than you think it would and you get quite a bit of info from the people that are pushing the different shows while you’re in line. We were there on a Friday night and it was extremely cold (about 20 w/​wind chill), which made it feel longer than it really was to stand in line.
My wife and I had the rare opportunity to see Tony Danza speak with us about his new Off-​Broadway show and gave us info about it, it was a very cook experience, one that I’ll remember for quite a long time.
Once you get to the booth, you have many different choices, but it’s a good idea to give them 3 or 4 diff shows that you might want to see, some may have already sold out or only have 1 seaters available, plus the pricing varies quite a bit for each different show.

SERVICE: lines are like the airport or Disneyland where they snake in parallel lines, and there are staff members directing you to where to go. Staff is also there to answer any questions you might have. I think asking them questions helps their day go by faster so if you have questions feel free to ask them. Seems like they’ve seen most of the shows or at least know a good idea of what each show is about to answer any questions you have.
LINES: yes the lines look LONG, but don’t be discouraged, the lines move fast, once you get to the front there are 10 ticket windows, and they work fast to line you up in each one, and at the window they are efficient and fast to get you what you want. It’s almost like the soup kitchen on Seinfeld where you gotta know what you want, say what you want, buy what you want, and get out of there and move on. Both times I’ve done tickets here it was a 30 min wait… not bad. Look for the red stairs in the middle of Times Square. You can walk up the stairs and hang out there to get a good panoramic view of Times Square.
HOW?: there is a sign with red digital lettering that tells you what is available, but honestly don’t wait until you get to the front to look at it. Look online or download the app then delete it later when you don’t need it anymore after your visit to NYC. You can favorite what shows you like so you have it ready when you get to the window. Pick at least top 3 shows you’re okay with seeing in case the top one you want is sold out.
TICKETS: you wait in line for the SAME day tickets. If you want matinée tickets then you wait in the morning line up until 2pm. If you want night tickets, then you wait from 3pm+. You can line up ahead of time. I trust that they offer me the best seats and just say yes ok and pay. Double check your tickets before you walk too far away.
SHOWS: I’ve seen Spiderman and Chicago by doing TKTS. Chicago was 2 tickets for $ 151 for Orchestra level seats. They have had shows like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, Cinderella, and so many more.

For some weird reason whenever I’m in time square I end up here… I see the huge line and then just walk away… The Times Square TKTS Booth sells day of performance tickets only… Its best for matinees… Some days the wait is ok and other days its unbearable… There is so much to do in NYC… not getting a ticket you want to a show… is not such a big deal… but it would be nice and yes the shows are fun to watch! You can get good seats at TKTS… especially for the matinees when they aren’t sold out… so good luck!

So crowded here and for good reason. it’s the middle of times square and within a few blocks from all the broadway shows that they are selling tickets for. They sell tickets for the shows that start in a few hours and are usually 50% off regular price. The lines here can get a little crazy with security guards telling you which way to go to wait in yet another line. Then there are the people passing out flyers to try to convince you to watch their show.
Go to the window prepared or the people behind you will be staring you down. They have an app with real time board listings of the available tickets so look at the app while on line. The actual board will mostly be blocked by people.

C’est LE bon plan pour aller voir une comédie musicale à Broadway. Les tickets invendus pour le soir sont mis en vente avec des réductions allant jusqu’à 50%. Attention, ça reste quand même cher, en effet, les comédies musicales plein tarif sont à 120 $.
Pour un ticket pour Cendrillon, ça nous a coûté 88 $ (taxes incluses). C’est onéreux, mais ça vaut le coup. On est loin des scènes européennes dans des Zenith, à Broadway, il y a un petit coté intimiste qui est très appréciable!
C’est à faire et refaire sans aucun doute!

Wer preiswert an Musical Karten kommen möchte ist hier an richtiger Stelle. Leider haben wir uns keine Karten dort geholt, da es The Lion King leider nie gab. Aber rechtzeitig hin gehen da sonst die guten Musicals weg sind.

Tolle Sache das!
Wir sind morgens aufgestanden und wollten abends gern ein Musical sehen. Die Karten für die Abendvorstellung werden am Times Square erst ab 3 pm angeboten, vorher werden nur Karten für die Nachmittagsvorstellungen verkauft. Deshalb gingen wir kurzerhand zum TKTS am Seaport (direkt ggü von Bodies & Dialogue in the Dark, falls man ohnehin plant hinzugehen). Wir waren 20 min vor Öffnung um 11 am da und hatten vllt 10 Leute vor uns.
Draussen steht eine TKTS Mitarbeiterin für Fragen zur Verfügung. Die Auswahl an Musicals war riesig (bestimmt 30+ Namen) und nach Beratung entschieden wir uns für Memphis für 70 $ pro Karte. Die Plätze waren super (auch wenn das Theater sehr alt und von den Sitzplätzen her eher auf kleine Menschen ausgelegt ist) und ebenso die Show. Der Herr am Schalter schilderte uns auch vorab genau, wo unser Plätze wären, sodass uns die Entscheidung einfach fiel. Einziges Manko kann sein, dass man nur Plätze der besten Kategorie zum reduzierten Preis bekommt. Aber ganz ehrlich: Wenn ich ein Musical sehe, will ich keine 40 $ dadurch sparen, dass ich in der letzten Reihe links im Eck sitze. Für mich also kein Problem!

Ja, bei TKTS bekommt man Musical Tickets für bis zu 50% unter dem Regulären Preis aber für Eine Abendvorstellung unter der Woche reduziert 170 USD zu bezahlen, ohne dass man auch nur den Hauch einer Chance hat die Plätze vorher zu sehen, finde ich schon krass.
Dazu kommt, dass der Service recht ruppig ist, um es mal freundlich zu sagen. Alles in allem kann man hier sicherlich Schnäppchen machen, es ist aber nicht alles Gold was glänzt

Wer das gerne preiswert machen möchte, dem sei der Kartenverkauf von tkts (
) empfohlen.
Sozusagen eine Restebörse für die Vorstellung am gleichen Tag.
Bis zu 50% des Ticketpreises kann man sparen. In unserem Fall waren das p.P. statt 120 USD dann 62,50 USD für das Musical Memphis (
) im Shubert Theatre, Abendvorstellung gleich um die Ecke. Hinzu kommt noch eine Bearbeitungsgebühr von 4 USD.

Zur Bezahlung kann ich sagen: Es wird auch Kreditkarte genommen, nicht nur Cash oder Travellerschecks, wie im Beitrag von K-​Käfer zu lesen ist. Möglich, das es damals so war.
Auf einer grossen Anzeigetafel wird angezeigt, welche Aufführung noch zu haben ist. Wir hatten Glück-​unsere Wunschvorstellung war noch zu erwerben.
Es gibt 3 Vorverkaufsstellen,
— Time Square– (Duffy Square/​47^th Street, EckeBroadway)
— Front Street (am Hafen)
— Downtown Brooklyn-(Ecke Jay und Myrtle Ave).
Der Andrang am TimeSquare ist am größten. Hier gibt es eine unendliche Schlange. Im Januar bei Eiseskälte war das nicht so prickelnd.

Die Mittagsvorstellungen werden bis 2pm verkauft, dann ist eine Stunde geschlossen und dann bildet sich schon die nächste Schlange für die Abendvorstellungen, die ab 3pm verkauft werden.
FAZIT: Hingehen, anstellen, es lohnt sich

Ich liebe TKTS! Es gibt zwei von den TKTS Schaltern, wobei sich beide nicht viel beim Warten und Anstehen schenken.
Der eine Standort ist direkt am Times Square, Broadway, kann man nicht verfehlen ;) der andere ist etwas schwieriger zu finden. Man fährt mit der Metro zur Fulton Street, das ist im Financial District und von dort aus läuft man noch 5min in die Front Street.
Wenn man samstags oder sonntags hingeht, habe ich die Erfahrung gemacht noch Karten zu den sonst ausverkauften Shows zu bekommen und wir musste ungelogen nicht länger als 5 Minuten anstehen, wenn man in die Mittagsvorführung will. Wirklich ein Traum.
Die Preise schwanken je nach Vorstellung zwischen 30 — 60 Dollar. Für Mamma Mia! habe ich z.B. um die 40 Dollar bezahlt, wir saßen mittig und für Phantom der Oper etwa 45 Dollar, dort saßen wir sogar in der 2. Reihe auf dem Rang!
Bei Equus war es sogar noch besser, wir saßen in der 8. Reihe Mitte und haben nur um die 30 Dollar gezahlt.
Also es lohnt sich wirklich.
Für Abendvorstellungen steht man allerdings bis zu 2 Stunden an, trotzdem sind die Preise unschlagbar!

Wenn man Karten für ein Musical in New York benötigt,
bekommt man diese am einfachsten und günstigsten bei
TKTS am Time Square derzeit wegen Umbau in der 47^th Straße, ist aber gut ausgeschildert. Man sucht einfach nach der Schlange bzw. der Menschenmenge, wenngleich das am Time Square nicht ganz einfach ist ;-).
Dort bekommt man die nicht verkauften bzw. zurückgegebenen Karten für die Vorstellungen am gleichen Tag für ca. 50%. Allerdings bekommt man kaum Karten für die ausverkauften Shows. Lion King hab ich z. B. zweimal vergeblich versucht, mag inzwischen aber anders sein.
Es kommen auch immer wieder mal Kontingente rein. Meist hat man die Auswahl zwischen 10 — 15 Musicals (auch Theater etc.), es sollte also für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei sein. Kostenpunkt i. d. R. 50 — 70 $ (Achtung nur Bargeld, ggf. Reiseschecks)
Man muss also nicht in Deutschland teure Karten kaufen, es sei denn man will unbedingt ein ganz bestimmtes Musical sehen.
