I am religious about good food. Toro was fantastic. I’ve never eaten at their Boston location(original) however hear it’s quite good. I had the beef cheek marmalade on toast– superb. The pasta dishes are fantastic. I also can say enough about their ambience and cool style in the place. I would definitely go back.

Totally underrated! We just celebrated my 40th birthday dinner at the chefs table at Toro. The atmosphere was killer. The bartenders were great. The waitstaff was awesome. The food came out perfectly timed and was amazing, the sangria was tasty. I can’t stop thinking about the pan de tomate!!! My friends raved about the octopus. Planning it was phenomenal according to my husband, who said working with them in the week ahead of our night was easy & on point. I would absolutely recommend this place, especially for large groups!

The patatas bravas were delicious and the oysters were fresh. This place is mainly tapas and drinks. Even the waitress said there’s no specialty dish. I took this as there is nothing they take pride in. My favorite part was the decanter of champagne ! It was a fun place to start the night but the food itself would not keep me coming back.

I am confused why this place has only 3.5 stars ??? I had a wonderful meal here on a Thursday night around 9pm. Toro serves small plates, and we were unsure of how many to order but our waitress arrived was SOOO informative and friendly. She told us exactly how many plates we would need based on our level of hunger. We decided on: Tuna tartare– omg DELICIOUS Brussel Sprouts — LOVED them Patas bravas — which are fried potatoes — yummm Octopus — SOGOOD, the topping on this was so flavorful and the octopus was tender Duck wings — I was unsure at first because I have never had duck wings but these were outstanding, so delicious and the meat fell right off the bone!!! I would 100% go back and recommed this to friends!

Naturally a bit expensive but I mean, it’s in meat-packing. Never disappointed from the 3x I went, all the food is well cooked and flavorful. The scarlet shrimp is succulent and one of my favorites. The octopus is also worth noting because of how flavorful it is. Haven’t tried the paella but I probably never am since I think it’s a waste of money. Wine selection is great.

Definitely a must try if you are into Spanish cuisine! A group of us split a few appetizers and shared a huge paella dish. It was certainly tasty and the waitstaff were so pleasant. Everyone working that night, from our server, to the hostess and the bartender were very kind in getting my group great service. Good food, good people, why not! The interior is clean and urban-esque with higher ceilings.

I came here with a friend of mine who has been working in the restaurant industry since college. Since I never made it to the Toro in Boston, I was super excited to try out the NYC location. Overwhelmed by all the delicious tapas on the menu, we asked our waiter for suggestions. He was patient and went over everything on the menu until we finally decided on a few tapas. The final verdict: tartar de atun, patatas bravas, chorizo y garbanzos and setas. Toro is definitely on the pricier side as the tapas really are small and you’ll need quite a few to fill you up, but that just means you’ll get to try lots of truly tasty dishes! The tuna tartare was actually my favorite and the presentation was whimsical. It was really fresh and was presented in a sardine looking tin. The patats bravas were spicy and the most filling out of all the appetizers. Looking around the room I wish we had also tried the grilled corn and paella, but that’s just another reason to come back. Everything we had here was amazing so it was well worth the final bill. Next time I’m in Boston I’ll have to try the original Toro.

Came here with a friend on a Saturday night around 7:30 for a lavish meal! Our waitress was great and I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The music was rap and hip hop, which is strange, but I guess since it’s a hip restaurant, it makes sense. As for drinks, we both ordered the montepulciano red wine which was great, but only necessary for one glass. As for food, we ordered the dates with ham, the Brussels sprouts, tuna tartare, grilled octopus and seafood risotto. For two girls, that was just enough food to satisfy us! The tuna tartare is terribly small in size, so it may be best to spend your money elsewhere. The octopus and seafood risotto were delicious!

Really enjoyed the tapas but the lobster and truffle paella didn’t live up to the expectation. The crudo and bone marrow were my favorites. The uni sandwich was kind of dry and didn’t really have much taste to it. If I went back I would definitely pick something else in the menu. Walked in during peak dinner time without a reservation but they found a table for us in a matter of a few minutes and had really good service throughout the whole meal. For a group of three we ordered 4 tapas and 1 small paella and it was the perfect amount of food.

This is one of the best restaurants in the city, without a doubt. Great vibe, killer cocktails, unique, delicious food and always a great time. If you haven’t been to Toro yet, you need to get there immediately. Highly recommend.

This place was super hard to find, if you are just walking and not paying attention. The door is hidden and blends in with the surroundings. I first heard of this place from a friend who was in love with this place in Boston. When I found that there was a location in New York, no doubt did I have to go try it out for myself. When you walk in, its like being taken to a chic version of Alice in wonderland. The décor was modern with plants veining the walls. Great place for a date night. Food: –Oysters because they added special ingredients like green strawberries. They were good, but I don’t think I would order them again so I can try something else. –The duck legs were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of sauce to compliment. –Octopus has always been my favorite and this placed has my stamp of approval. –I’ve seen so many people review the mushroom dish, and I love mushrooms so it was a must try. It was only okay. –Last but not least, the paella took the longest, but it was well worth the wait. The Lobster Truffle paella is definitely worth a try at this place. the rice was perfectly flavored and infused with lobster and truffle flavor. Dessert was a lost cause since we were so full, but none the less, we pushed through to try a little something cause everyone knows that there is always room for dessert! The churros were dense but airy at the same time since it was hollow. Definitely a great way to end the meal. I’m typically not a fan of churros, but these were pretty darn good.

Absolutely worth more than the current 3,5 rating. Great staff that gives splendid service. Very good food and extensive selection of Barcelona style tapas. The Sepia Risotto en su Tinta is to die for! Can be a little noisy.

Based on the reviews I’m seeing, it’s possible I had one too many drinks but I had a fabulous time. I went here for a more«turnt up» kind of girls night and Toro was our first stop. Now, my memory of that night is pretty foggy but here were the standouts at Toro: Tortilla Espanola, Patatas Bravas, Paella Valencia and Pato Con Albaricoque. What I liked about Toro was how reasonably priced everything was. For 5 girls, it came to $ 60 each and that includes plenty of food and drinks to get us moving.

Having tried the original Toro restaurant in Boston, I’m torn since this location doesn’t live up to the reputation created in New England. Don’t get me wrong. The food here is still good and the décor is beautiful. However, the food didn’t have that knock your socks off quality that I experienced in Boston. That being said, you’ll still have a great time. Make sure to get the following: 1) Jamon Serrano– Salty, fatty and straight out delicious on some crusty bread 2) Corn with Cotija cheese– I call this crack corn because you can’t stop once you try it 3) Dates filled with blue cheese– perfect combination of sweet and salty

I booked dinner at this place for my husbands birthday. Then I checked Unilocal and instantly regretted it, but I really wanted to take him to some place hip, cool, and different. We had a reservation for 6:30 and his parents were late so we sat at the bar waiting from them until 7:40(yes an hour late) and drank. You will not be seated unless your whole party is there. They have happy hour were you can get Spanish style apéritif from 5 – 7 so you can get cheap little things to eat($ 1-$ 3). The drinks are amazing and the small items to eat were very good. The bartender was soo nice, it was after 7 and they had leftover small items they were just going to throw away so they gave it to us for free! On to dinner so I was apprehensive after reading the reviews and suggested we stay away from the paella and stick with the small plates. My husband’s mom has celiac disease and can not eat gluten free and they were very accommodating made every dish the could gluten free. We had: Sardina Y Mantequilla de Cabra, Maiz Asado con Alioli, Cod Croquettas, smoked duck drumettes, Brocoli, Grilled shrimp with chilies, Pulpo, Patatas Bravas, and the Marinated Skirt Steak. The good: Patas Bravas is a typical tapas dish, it was delicious and tomoato sauce was amazing. I was nervous about the Pulpo after reading another review but ours was excellent. I lived in Spain for a month and I love this modern twist on a tradition Spanish tapas. Surprisingly the Sardines on toasted bread with tomato sauce was amazing, not salty or fishy tasting. The skirt steak was great had an excellent marinade just too many sweet onions. Corn was excellent probably a thousand calories with the melted cheese but delicious. The smoked duck drumettes were also very good. The bad: The shrimp was nothing special, the sauce was underwhelming, shrimp itself was small. The cod croquettes were under seasoned, lacked any flavor, and came with what I think was mayonnaise as the dipping sauce. The Brocoli was clearly not blanched because it was extremely bitter… A little bitter is good, when you can not taste anything else in the dish because it is soo bitter that is not a good thing. The service: Was great!!! They were very accommodating as we had someone with a gluten allergy, and when I booked this reservation I told them it was my husbands birthday and without having to remind them they brought us a free dessert with a candle.

I would give this restaurant a 3.5. The pros: the ambiance and price IF we didn’t order the lobster paella. Unfortunately for $ 90 this was not that tasty. We should have definitely ordered the smaller one and totally regretted ordering paella. The squid I found extremely salty. Overall the dishes were average. It’s such a shame as I thought there was so much potential!

AMAZING!!! Honestly, don’t bother with the negative reviews, they’re all about quality of service and other b.s. The food is phenomenal(which is really all I care about) but the décor and the vibe is top notch as well. We ordered the bone marrow(amazing), the chorizo with garbanzo(classic favorite), and the fried potatoes with serrano ham and fried egg(not on the menu but they’ll make it for you). We had plenty of drinks and the cocktails were not that great but they did the job. The paella valenciana we had for dinner was probably the tastiest paella I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried lots of paella. Great place, great food, service was fine as well, would definitely recommend this to anybody. Cheers.

Great place for tapas! They are a little on the pricey side, but the food here is pretty good. The location is a little hard to get to and it’s not really on 10th Ave. The entrance is on 15th Street. The waitress told me that for two people they generally order 6 – 8 dishes. I ordered 6 since my dishes were all pretty heavy. Uni Sandwich: Phenomenal! So creamy and flavorful. The bread had the right amount of crispiness. Who knew that an uni sandwich would taste so good? Grilled Octopus: The octopus was not overcooked but could’ve used a little more flavor. Bone Marrow: This was good for the first few bites, but then it definitely gets to be a little too much. It was really salty and really oily. Very interesting to try once, but I don’t know if I’d get it again. Steak: I’d pass on the steak here. THe quality didn’t seem that great as the skirt steak was really chewy. Squid Ink Risotto: The flavor in this dish was exploding and had a lot of seafood in it. The only thing I didn’t like was that they used orzo instead of rice, so it didn’t really seem like a risotto. It was more like a pasta dish. Foie Gras: Very tasty! I didn’t like that this was the last item that came out. I would’ve thought this would come out first. It’s super heavy so eating it last was kind of hard. I was already pretty full and couldn’t savor this as much as I could’ve. If you order this, ask for it to come out first.
