The first time I went to Tossed at this location I ordered a wrap and the guy that made it obviously didn’t know how to make it, because it fell apart as soon as I opened the packaging, the greens and vegetables all fell out so I just ate the veggies and threw out the crêpe. The second time I ordered salad. The egg I got in my salad tasted disgusting; I almost threw up after eating it. I hope I don’t get sick, it’s quite possible the egg was spoiled. The salad also tasted funny and not appetizing. It had very little veggies and mostly baby field greens. For $ 10 I expected more. The small piece of bread I got was stale and just not good. I am definitely not coming back to Tossed. Now I know why Hale and Hearty is #1 on my list for lunch places. Their sandwiches, salads and soups are amazing– fresh and simply delicious.

I have to give this place 5 stars because the service was great and my meal was fresh and delish. I will definitely be back when I’m in NYC again.

Tossed is a solid salad bar. Sadly it is not as good as Chop’ted, just because the ingredients are not as good quality to me and the salad recipe aren’t as good overall. The good point is that you probably have no line or at least less then the nearby Chopt’ed.

Tossed is mediocre. The only reason why I go there other than its proximity to my office is that I like having healthy lunch options and they have a club card that allows you to get every 8th salad free. Also, if you have a New York Health & Racquet Club membership card, you get 10% off – just an FYI! I tend to get the BBQ chicken salad with tuna instead of chicken, which comes with romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, corn, tortilla strips, jicama and shredded cheese in a citrus dressing. It’s decent but bland and a bit overpriced. It should be better than it is. They don’t have trays for customers who would like to eat-in and the place doesn’t seem all that clean. Today they overcharged me, saying that for making the substitution, I needed to pay extra. This had never happened to me before and I have been working in the neighborhood for more than 1.5 yrs. I only have one more meal to go before I get a free one, so I guess I’ll be back in the upcoming wks but Tossed needs to try harder.

I have to upgrade Tossed to one of my favorite lunch places. Their salads are consistent, and they are made quickly. The cashiers are personable and smile — a small yet significant gesture.

I’m a regular here. The ingredients are fresh, service is quick. I especially like the Southwest Chicken Salad.

Decent salads, good selection of ingredients, not /too/expensive. The place was AC’d to the max, though — most people probable take their food to go. Also, I got some soups there recently that were amazingly good.

Pretty standard make your own salad bar. If you’ve been to one you’ve been to them all, but the quality of the ingredients is what counts. Tossed is always good and fresh, but nothing about their ingredients really POPS out at you. If I’m in this area, I prefer to go to Organique because they sell kombucha and they make sandwiches as well. However, Tossed is definitely a contender for lunch spots and typically has shorter lines as well during the mid-day lunch rush.

Yikes! This might be the worst of the salad joints in the Flatiron district. I wanted to love you Tossed — you are sort of the non-franchise underdog, but I was displeased with my meal. I got the BBQ chicken crêpe wrap. It was really just, not good. The wheat wrap was practically the consistency of gum and the chicken was difficult to find through the not-incredibly-fresh veggies. I know I only had one experience with this place but between the taste of the food and the fact that my wrap took longer to prepare than any salad on the belt(10 minutes longer), because it was a wrap not a salad, is enough for me to never return.

Not a bad spot to pick up a healthier lunch. Was in the mood for a good green salad today and did not want to go far since it looked like it was about to rain. The place itself is clean, but kind of a generic looking décor. Counter person was nice and walked me through my first time ordering here. I made it easy and just ordered an Apple Walnut aalad. This was pretty damn tasty and included romaine roasted chicken, apples, blue cheese, walnuts, and golden raisins. Had it with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and they give you a slice of bread too. They also carry a lot of different drinks — Vitamin Waters, Red Bull, Honest Iced Teas, Hint, sodas, etc. Along with a drink it came out to a little over $ 12 which was a bit pricey but that’s probably because I got a Vitamin water with it. Before I left was handed a punch card to accumulate a free salad. Maybe I’ll go back again when in the mood.

I enjoy the salad here. It is accompanied by a free slice of wheat bread. I like their salad because of the dressing — strawberry-balsamic and balsamic vinaigrette. I normally create my own salad of baby field greens and a bunch of other veggies. This is a perfect size lunch and you can collect punches for a free salad!

The Bad — Not much selection for veggies — If you like a lot of dressing, this place isn’t for you. — It’s called«Tossed» cause they toss your salad once. — Some tofu wrap I got was so bland and all I tasted was the tortilla. The Good — Frequent buyer card — Has wraps, soups, salads and sandwiches The Bottomline– Decent salad place. Can’t taste dressing much. You get a free slice of bread. I don’t see a point in it but it’s free. You also get a free bag of chips. Not much ingredients.

Crêpe wraps are a great way to take a step away from the everyday standbys — sandwiches and salads. But A) they’re pre-made & stacked on the counter and B) there wasn’t any chicken in my chicken & goat cheese wrap. Actually, I take that back there was chicken dust in mine. blech.

Blah. Ordered off Seamless the other night. I created my own salad. The ingredients were all fine and generally fresh. The problem was the dressing. As in, I could barely taste it! these people are STINGY with the dressing. For the first 5 bites I was pretty convinced there was no dressing at all. Soon after, I basically gave up on my salad. I like veggies and all, but sometimes a girl needs a little bit of dressing, ya know? The strawberry banana smoothie was good(not great), but what’s with charging an extra dollar for the fro-yo? And next time(not that there will be a next time), please don’t forget the straw.

Things I love about NY: the variety of restaurants, cheap manicures, and make-your-own salad places Things I don’t love about NY: The pace; the pushing and shoving. Tossed did a pretty good job of combining my loves and hates of The Big Apple. They had every vegetable and salad topping known to man. The choices were endless, but the man behind the cash register told me I had to pick my toppings immediately. And I was being shoved/pushed by the hungry New Yorkers behind me. AAAAHHHHH– the pressure! I wussied out and opted for one of the pre-made salad option, the Southwest Blacked Chicken Salad. Finding a table would have been another stressful situation if it wasn’t for my 2 New Yorker lunch companions who did some pushing of their own to get us a table. The salad was delicious and probably tastier than anything I could have created myself; my useless skills in the kitchen often translate to making my bad salads. Another thing I love about NY– there are so many food delivery options that there’s never a reason to cook!

If someone in the office feels like eating«healthy,» we end up getting Tossed. I got the BBQ chicken salad, which is crisp hearts of romaine, freshly roasted chicken in chipotle barbecue sauce, roasted corn, chopped tomatoes, roasted onions, jicama, cheddar and tortilla strips with citrus chipotle dressing. Sounds awesome, right? It was just decent. It was accompanied by a slice of bread, and as much as I appreciate the gesture… when it comes to food, it’s not really the thought that counts. I found myself longing for Cosi’s bread, and that’s not really good for anyone. Unless you are going to eat there, I would not recommend getting the dressing mixed in, as it gets a bit soggy. But you want to get your salad tossed.* If you’ve never had that done before, and are a bit apprehensive… it’s surprisingly enjoyable. I’ve also had the pleasure of eating the«crêpe» with pesto chicken, fresh mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and baby field greens with lemon basil vinaigrette. That was much better than the salad, and in the future I think I’ll stick to «crepes.» I put«crêpe» in quotes because it’s really just a wrap. I’m just trying to limit the confusion in a complicated world. *Oh, I meant«chopped.» Silly me.

So i’m all healthy now and always watch what i eat. So. i had lunch here today. We ordered the blackened chicken crêpe and the turkey BLT crêpe and split half and half. Delicious and satisfying. There IS healthy food that does taste good! Came at the height of lunch hour. Crazy crowded. So you know everyone likes this place. I was checkin out the salads that the people had next to me; they looked really fresh and appetizing too. gotta try em next time.
