I never waste food but this was one instance, where I had to throw my half swharama ! They are not authentic Lebanese. I had asked them to make the food spicy expecting that they will put some Lebanese spices but instead they put tabasco sauce(or similar to that) that ruined the taste. The people on the truck did not seem friendly and greeted with a straight face, could be because I was there at around 1:30PM and was getting late. Will give it a pass !

Didn’t feel that they were authentic food. The falafels are given in cold temperature and have no taste at all, just very plain. Old tahini sauce too and watery hot sauce.

As 2nd generation lebanese in this country, I’m pretty particular about my lebanese food. I also base all of my decisions on how the tabouli stands up. I have to say, Toum was REALLY good. Nothing compares to Tata’s home cooking, but the babaganoosh, spinach pies & tabouli are worth returning for.

OHMYGOD. My office got Toum for catered lunch, and it was amazing! The food is always so fresh and the garlic sauce is insanely delicious. The owners are so nice, and gave me a tip that the way to clear the garlic is to eat parsley immediately after. I can’t wait for them to come back!

I got a falafel platter. The falafel was too dry and didn’t taste fresh. The rice tasted like Minute Rice and was also on the dry side. The tabouli didn’t taste authentic and seemed like chopped up tomatoes with not much else. The baba was not smooth and had a somewhat unpleasant, gloppy, torn-up texture. The strong garlicky white dip was really delicious! Plan on keeping your mouth closed whenever you’re around others for about 36 hours after eating it though. I’m sad that I didn’t like the food. The truck has a very cute logo and the guys working in it were very nice. Maybe the meat is better.

Just visited this at the Prospect Park food truck rally, which was great aside from the torrential rain storm we got caught in. Apparently you order my the guy in the cab, and then the guys at the window make your food. One of the guys made me a sandwich instead of the chicken platter I ordered the first time, and then proceeded to get pissed at me for his mistake. Second attempt, they didn’t ask me any of the things I wanted included, but I ended up just taking it. I was tired, pissed and wet, so rather than argue with this idiot(other guy and the guy in front was fine). The chicken was good quality, but I didn’t find the spice blend they used very exciting; it was salty more than anything. They didn’t bother to ask me where I wanted rice or french fries, instead just giving me some rice. It looked to be a basmati variant and it was fine. The tabouleh salad was a standout, as was the hummus(again they didn’t ask if I want this or babaghanouj) and the tangy toum sauce. Actually these 2 items are the sole reason for the 3 star rating, along with the tangy toum sauce. The bread seemed to be unleavened pita bread. It was alright to dip in the hummus but nothing more. They forgot the hot sauce I asked for(really guys?). I might give this another shot if I seem it again, but given the service it would likely be only if I there aren’t any other options(deducting 1 star for that). Too bad.

This was one of the few food trucks in attendance at the Urban Mudder event. Granted I did not participate in the event and I was merely a spectator, but after being outside on a hot and humid day… I was hungry. My friend and I looked at all of the trucks before finally deciding on Toum since the other trucks were pizza(I’ll eat pizza everyday but I decided to be adventurous), Mexican(nah), and ice cream(lactose-intolerant). We both decided to get the falafel sandwich which came out to a little less than $ 10. The sandwich was in what I would call a not so typical pita bread, which is fine. The falafel itself was very very dry with little to no flavor. It claimed to have sauce on it but mine seemed to have none. Overall, it was just a VERY dry sandwich and not very filling. The employees are nice enough, hence the extra star, but the food could use a lot of work.

This was one of the food trucks on attendance for the Urban Mudder event on Randall’s Island this past weekend. After finishing the event we needed some food stat! Thought I would give them a shot as I saw others sitting around feasting on these large chicken shawarma and beef kabab sandwhich wraps. By the time I got to the truck they were out of chicken and there was still a half day remaining for the event. Really? Had to settle on the beef kabab wrap. I watched as they put it together and noticed they added french fries and hummus in the wrap. Nice. I was famished and drooling at this point. When I got back to the table with my food bounty I was all ready to feast. After I few bites I was kinda disappointed as my sandwich was really on the dry side and had little taste to it. Big time bummer. Not the kind of feast I wanted after conquering an obstacle course race. Damn, I should have went to the pizza truck instead.

During our trip to the Belmont Stakes there was a couple of food trucks that were parked outside. We didn’t go until after the main race was over so the line wasn’t that bad, but some of the food trucks were already closing up shop. That is when I saw Toum NYC and their authentic Lebanese cuisine. Click and drag to move This was my chance for Shawarma! So, I chose the Chicken Shawarma sandwhich that they offered. Since this was my first Shawarma sandwich I was a little confused when French Fries were in it, but they were a good addition. It was fairly pricey, unsure if this is their norm or if it was just because we were at the horse races. They were quick once I ordered. Upon eating my sandwich it was fairly good, but I wish it had a little more flavor. For our options that night there could have been worse.

I bought chicken shawarma with rice today from your food stall at broadway and 40th. The shawarma did not taste good at all and I felt it was too expensive @ $ 13. Items that came with my order: 1. Chicken shawarma — WORSTEVER !!! I think this was just boiled pulled chicken and NOT the rotisserie type shawarma. Also, it had no spices and was too salty. 2. Rice with vermicelli — It was just to bland and tasteless 3. Salad — This was the only good part. The salad tasted good and crisp. 4. Hummus — Tasted ok not great. 5. Pita bread — I would not call that pita bread. It was as thin as a paper. Did not taste or look fresh at all. It was very dry and chewy. 6. Pita Chips — I think those chips were fried atleast 10 times as they had so much oil or it was put in oil when the oil was not hot and the chips just absorbed all the oil before getting cooked. Overall, I would not recommend my friends to try the food at TOUM.

Went to the urban space booth and had an amazing Kefta sandwich. Very tasty with lots of great flavors. Want to check out more they have to offer.

Best falafel in NYC and probably in the world outside of the actual Middle East. Wish they had more trucks though. Anyone that does it recognize how good this falafel is just simply doesn’t understand anything about falafels.

The food was pretty good. Location for the downtown Toum one was perfect — right by the pier, perfect for lounging and chilling on sunny days! Guys at the joint were very friendly and remembered faces/struck up conversations. Actual food prep took a while. but the sandwiches/hummus/falafel were worth it! :)

This truck was by the South Street Seaport one afternoon a couple of weeks ago and this looked like the best food truck option out of the bunch. I really wanted to have the tabouleh and hummus here, but I had a dinner res later that night for Mediterranean food, so I decided on the beef kabab sandwich instead. The bread was excellent and had an interesting flavor. The french fries inside were a nice touch. It was filling and yummy, but a tad too greasy for me as my stomach told me an hour or so later.

I got the Beef Kabab sandwich with lettuce onion hummus tomato pickle and this definitely fell short of my expectations. I actually regretted spending that much money. The beef was tough, gamey and flavorless. The pita bread was good and crispy. The veggies were few and far in between.

Falafel platter — $ 10 for 5 falafels, hummus, tabouleh salad, fries, and side of pita. Pretty good deal and I was extremely full and satisfied once I finished. Sure, it wasn’t the best falafel I ate, or the best hummus(for some reason it tasted like mashed potatoes), but for the price to quantity to quality ratio, I’d say I’m pretty satisfied. Definitely a nice change to the overly expensive, not so great tasting cafeteria food my company provides. People might say the falafel is overcooked, but I actually liked the extra crispiness of the falafel. I’m no expert in what good Tabouleh salad should taste like, but I enjoyed it. Fries were also crispy and in large quantities. I am still slightly baffled by the fact that I had mashed-potato tasting hummus.

One of the food trucks that accept credit cards. They are on Park Ave and 48th on Wednesdays. I had the kafta platter, which was good, not outstanding, and my friend had the chicken shawarma, which she said was OK. The folks were nice and friendly. Overall I like Bread and Olives better.
