Tung Sing

Not sure why anyone in their right mind would open up an Asian Fusion restaurant right next to another Asian Fusion restaurant on a quiet side street in midtown (yes there are a few of them).Tung Sing opened its gates a few weeks ago. They have been aggressively handing out menus as well as leaving signage outside their front door. Today I decided to give them a shot. I phoned in an order and was told that they didn’t have Pad Thai-​even though it was on the menu they handed out. Determined to give them a chance I ordered the $ 5.99 Lunch special of General Tso’s complete with a Diet Coke. Not bad, not good. I think they were surprised I walked through the doors to retrieve my order. I think they will be closed for good in about 6 months. This site seems cursed-​it was once a pretty decent, albeit scary, Indian buffet type place that switched owners repeatedly. Now Tung Sing is trying to make it work. For mediocre Asian food I can go to the $ 4.99 buffet on east 33^rd…

This restaurant just opened recently and they had passed out their fliers to where I worked, so I decided to check it out. They have lunch specials on Mon– Fri from 11:00am — 3:30 pm. This a Chinese and Japanese Restaurant mixed cuisine. I thought their prices even with the lunch specials are more expensive than the ones in Chinatown and their food doesn’t taste that great.
PROS:
— nice décor and good music.
— wait time for take out is average.
CONS:
— lunch special is a LIE. the flier clearly says served with rice, brown rice, fried rice, salad & soup. Well I got the Mango Chicken lunch special with fried rice to go. I did not receive the salad & soup as mention in the flier. Instead of that, I got a can of soda.
— Mango Chicken — meh I have experienced better. I did not like the BAMBOO SHOOTS in this dish and they put so much of it in there. The whole dish was just really salty. I am wondering if they put a lot of MSG in this…
