The tofu is decent here but I found the guy pretty rude towards people who don’t speak Chinese and give him change.

I would have given 5 stars for this place if the old guy(the owner?) at the store wasn’t so rude to me. Apparently I asked for an item that was already sold out. But why be so rude? It was completely unnecessary. Other than that, this place is great.

Been coming here for years since i was a little girl. I love their herbal tea and soy bean milk. It is fresh and usually always a line around 5pm. Great price for fresh tofu noodles and etc.

Been here so many times when I attended public elementary school. For about almost 10 years, I haven’t visited this place. Sad to hear right? I always wanted to buy the dou hua and soy drink as well when I came here. Now that I am finally trying to travel and revisit the places I have been to as a kid, I look forward to visit this place. Although sanity wasn’t that well here, I never minded it at all.

Been around since forever. Fresh soy products/herbal drinks. They’re cash only. They also serve congee and«tofu soup». The employees there are all cute little Asian ladies

Ah, so refreshing in the summer to grab a soy milk here to go! They have no seating(just a little stand). Only $ 1 for a bottle. The soy milk is slightly sweet and tastes much better than the packaged kind from the supermarket. Not sure if they offer any unsweetened soy milk, though.

When I was a little kid, my dad would buy douhua, and I still find this warm, sweet pudding one of the most comforting foods in the world. Tung Woo Co is literally a hole in the wall, and it’s near and dear to me. It’s a no frills, straightforward kind of comfort meal that nevertheless manages to be absolutely perfect for me: soft tofu that gently breaks into warm silky glaciers when you poke it with your spoon, and a gingery simple syrup that makes every spoonful sweet. It does not have dairy or gelatin in it and it is basically fresh all the time(they sell til they run out). The service at this stand is always incredibly efficient though not exactly friendly — to me, that’s part of the ambiance. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made the walk down here from the village in the morning to point at the large, steaming pot of soft tofu and fork over six quarters to the woman at the table to get a small dou hua(a plenty large breakfast for me, by the way) and eat it in quiet contemplation on my walk back uptown. It’s $ 1.50 that gives me real peace of mind.

Doufu fa tofu is cheaper than most places at $ 2 for a quart with 2 syrups but other places come with 3 syrups. I wasn’t particularly fond of the firmess. I like the soft ones you get at dim su or the place on Mott St.

Great value for fresh tofu, noodles and soy milk of all sorts. The store is a hole-in-the-wall, no frills, lo-tech space, translating to excellent value for your dollar! There is a line-up of 10+ people at any given time! Tips: Cash only. The tofu-fa sells out quickly!

Really glad I finally tried this place. If you’re looking for a quick hot tofu flower soup on the go, I would get it here. The tofu texture is bean-y and still smooth. Not like some of the places where it’s all gelatin. It’s not a bad price for a small at $ 1.50. Perfect for your budget and on the run. Can’t beat that it’s fairly close to the subway.

On my 4th try at around the same time, I finally got them before they closed(though they were just about). Staff was super friendly and forked over my 2 bucks for a large tofu fa spicy w/2 sauces. Will return for douhua(tofu pudding). FYI It’s attached to Double Crispy at the same address. PS

What better way to reminisce about street food than finding a small hole in the wall serving freshly made tofu! One small cup will set you back at $ 1.50 and a large cup at $ 2.00, if you’re not stuffed, I advise on the large because you’ll want more! The tofu pudding has a wonderful firmness while reatining its silkiness. You get it warm and pour simple sugar in. It comes in a nice plastic container for easy eating and snacking. Definitely coming back!

Amazing hole in the wall spot in the middle of Chinatown. I was on a dire search for some herbal tea to cure my «hot air»(the imbalance of hot/cold in your body). $ 1 for a single serving and $ 3 for the half gallon. I love their sweet silken tofu also! A great afternoon pick-me-upper on those long work days.

Tung Woo is a little shop located on Grand Street operated by an elderly couple who are extremely sweet. Here, they sell numerous soy based products(Soy Bean Milk, Soy Pudding, Fresh Tofu) and rice noodles(Hor Fun, Cheong Fun). Today, I bought a small bottle of soy milk and a pound of rice rolls(cheong fun) for only $ 1.75. You can’t even find prices like these in some Asian countries! I brought the cheong fun home, and proceeded to spruce it up with some condiments(sesame oil, light soy sauce, sriracha, and sesame seeds). The insanely fresh and springy noodles made for two portions, while the soy milk was silky smooth and exquisite. Come early because they’re always sold out of Doufu fa/Tou Hua/Soy Pudding early. Don’t forget to order in Cantonese ;)

Love~ Their soy milk is ALMOST perfect, but it is a little too sweet and a bit watered down. Their doufu hua is about the silkiest that I’ve had, without the dry, hinging on stinkiness some places have, which drove my from ever liking it as a kid. There was a lady who said that she was waiting 15 minutes for the fresh batch to arrive, which came just as I was about to order, score! Downside is that they have no ginger in their sugary syrup. But it’s still good. Got 2 small soy milks($.75 each), one small doufu hua = $ 2.75. Yay! They mainly speak canto, Mandarin is okay. Not sure about English.
